The Most Frustrating Part About Assassin's Creed Shadows...

- It's been over a week since the reveal of Assassin's Creed Shadows and there has been a lot of negativity surrounding the game. Ubisoft decided to offer some of the most overpriced special editions for a game I've ever seen, and it's incredibly frustrating to me because I would like to be excited for the game, but Ubisoft always has to make some anti-consumer business decision that kills my motivation to talk about the game. When will this company stop hurting their own reputation, with these absurd business practices?

When a single player game has it's own store, we have a fucking problem.
as long as their only selling skins. And not Quest or some shit like that they can do it
didn't Ubisoft start selling this nonsense with ACU? or was it before that?
either way i agree, however i really don't trust Ubi anymore, this whole getting comfortable with not owning our games we pay full price and with the evidence of them taking away such games off of the chosen platform, yeah i don't trust them, they can go broke for all i care, i will not be purchasing any of their games now or in the future.
i want them to go broke so they have to sell their entire IP library to someone who cares about these games and the gaming industry and not some shady company who's only interest is endless money for mediocre trash games.
@@Gurkensuppe007no not even that. Skins should be unlockables for progression and achieving feats in the game. Each skin locked behind a paywall, is a cool challenge or unique mission that could’ve been made instead.
It’s only justifiable in FTP games and maybe live service games.
I honestly don't care. I just buy the standard game and unlock whatever I can..... I'm never tempted by any special outfits.
@@Me_Myself_Maly I most definitely understand what you mean, but I feel like it's an acceptable thing under certain conditions. If a game has a good amount of skins to the point where you'd have trouble using them all, I don't think it's completely unreasonable to have a couple of SUPER high quality skins in a shop (at a reasonable price ofc).
A good example of this is with monster hunter rise which has a billion different styles both through just crafting, layered armor crafting, or through challenges. Still, there are a couple of layered weapons and a couple of layered armor sets in store and it caused an uproar. The game has so many cosmetics you can earn just by playing that the couple of sets in the store genuinely have zero effect. It just looks really cool or is something goofy like stuffed animal weapons.
But either way I think it's a case by case thing. Someone games definitely don't have the right to put skins in a shop, some games I feel could get away with it, if done right.
When I play a game, I want to be left wanting more, not being told there will be more.
Well said. Nowadays developers are like "guys guys pwease wait 8 more years we will fix all the bwugs great DLC incoming we swear 🥺"
Not the Developers@@rekhavmenon1507
Bruh..Exactly ! Im so tired of marketting campaigns trying to convince me of stuff to come while trying to get me to pre-order. Just SHOW ME.
So you want DLCs, but not a confirmation they exist?
What
@@rekhavmenon1507I mean, most likely, the devs are just as victims as we are being pushed to such unreasonable deadlines and being forced to such demands that probably ruined the game, but ey, if they wanna get paid they have to do what they are told
They’ll get cheaper eventually.
I normally wait on ps plus extra 😅
Just so you know, you're part of the problem
Exactly sure the prices are absurd for a game you haven't seen shit for but also ubisoft games are notoriously known for going on sale in lightning speed
Yeah, just give it a few weeks
Shit gonna be 20 bucks in 5 years with bugs fixed.
Or just you know, ☠️🦜🏴
Ubisoft is as greedy as ever, nothing new about that.
Y'all are ridiculous. AC II was $60 in 2009. That's ~$87 today, accounting for inflation. Yes, the $130 edition is overpriced and doesn't have proper value - SO DON"T BUY IT. Just buy 1-3 months of Ubisoft+ and beat the game for $15 to $45. Stop whining about price. If you're that broke, you shouldn't be spending dozens of hours gaming anyway.
True
Honestly I Don't get it Ubisoft always used to Overprice their games with 130 dollars with their other games, I don't know why People noticed it now
@@syatekimagine being mad at your fellow worker when companies spread inflation bs when it's completely unnecessary. Ubisoft is a bad studio that owns a great series. I like the newer games but the prices and micro transactions are a terrible business practice.
@@syatekYou just admitted it’s overpriced and doesn’t have proper value. We the people complain as much as we want. Go cry about it lil bro. Inflation ain’t got nuffin to do with this. Most games are still 60$ 🤡🤡🤡

NOTHING will happen if we play it 3 days late
NOTHING will happen if we play it 6 months late
But THIS is what happens when we keep paying these outrages prices
imma just buy the standard edition. fuck all that.
that's what ive been doing! "oh awesome new game! im gonna wait until it's 50% off to play!" and it's what ive done. i have tons of other games to play along the way!
People on the internet are the Minority
Why would I wait 6 months to buy and play a game that everyone is going to be playing day one and three days early? I'm a day one fan and we finally get to play in Japan! I've waited so long for this moment.
Dude it's just our world now I completely agree with what your saying but everything is expensive now a days
I know this has been said quite a lot, but…
If buying digitally isn’t owning, then pirating isn’t stealing.
According to Ubisoft, buying is owning. Paying for a subscription is not owning.
@@HahahMamaman they really said that ??
One day that is not going to hold up in court
How can you sit there and argue that buying a subscription is owning the games you play? What fucking planet are you from?!
You buy a subscription, and you play a game, you don't own that game. You're paying for playing rights.
Still illegal, copywrite infringement, and if standardize would kill the industry.
I don’t understand why this is news every year. It’s the same thing basically. Why are we farming outrage over and over again? Buy it or don’t. Vote with money.
Ubisoft needs to get comfortable of me not buying their games. Honesty anyone who has a 3 day fomo for a single player game really needs to evaluate themselves.
There's no way people feel jealous about having to wait 3 extra days 💀
Apparently they are seem like Ubisoft got they sauce back 😂
Everyone is acting like ubisoft hasn't been pricing their ultimate edition versions of their games that's $130 since 2018
People are waking up and it's never too late
Isn't this a problem nonetheless?
Just because they have been doing it for a while does that make it okay?
Yeah, It's pretty standard for companies to have this sort of pricing model. I'm not sure why all of a sudden people are frustrated with it. Honestly wait until a sale goes on if its a concern because unfortunately these companies want profit whether it is through this method or others: microtransactions. It works for them; people will buy it and all the skins etc. They are going to do it until it doesn't work.
@@masterassassin791 I say for the amount of things you get and can do it’s worth it .
The thing about this is Ubisoft has been doing this for years I personally will never buy this premium editions. Honestly, the number one thing that pisses me off is the game isnt on steam on pc. I was considering pre ordering it but then I realized I could get ghost of tsushima on pc for 10 dollars cheaper I think u can guess which one I picked lmao

I just want to remind everyone to get the standard edition. Everything included in the gold and ultimate editions, is available in the store. Try the game to see if you like it, and then buy the season pass if you want.
Exactly. It makes no sense to discuss the Ultimate edition's pricing as if it was the base price. Anyone picky can just wait a little and decide later.
Not everything, you miss a filter, five skill points, and a single mission. It’s vital content!!!11!
@@lukethelegend9705 I’m not sure if you will miss the filter, but it will probably be in the shop. The mission will be released to everyone soon after launch, and who tf wants 5 skill points.

why can’t they just make everything in the store obtainable by playing 😢

Who buys the gold and ultimate editions of these games? I'd never even consider it and from what I see online, everyone who likes AC, hates these micro transactions and "special" editions to the games. So why does Ubisoft keep making them? Who actually buys them?

I mean to each their own oppinion the hate on yasuke is dumb though
I can't really understand the point of all this. There are many expensive games that don't offer to the gamer even half of the time and the experience ubisoft games (especially ac series) offer to us. In any case whoever finds this overcosted can wait to buy it in discount.
The issue is the rewards 130 dollars for cosmetics and a filter is obsurd and 3 days early access is ridiculous the problem isn’t the price but what you pay FOR I don’t want to pay 40 dollars extra to play the game on launch
@@Envixin753 then dont pay 130, problem solved

Ubisoft doesn't deserve to have Assassin's Creed as a franchise. They've done more harm than good to it, with their greed. And I don't think it's the people working on the game, the higher-ups force them to add this stuff in. I want to like AC Shadows, but I won't get excited, just to be let down. Going back to the old games won't save this game, either. They need to innovate. Push the envelope instead of making the same game in a different time period with a new aesthetic.
The greed does not effect gameplay at all. $70 for a game is totally understandable especially ones like these because they cost hundreds of millions to make
@@letschatMwithJ no no wait he’s got a point

Any time they’ve tried to innovate the fanbase has hated it, and just relying on the old games didn’t work too well either. They’re gonna combine the two, I’d call that innovation to a degree. Also yeah the greed really doesn’t affect gameplay unless you get sick of XP grinding and buy a time saver, which is just your prerogative. Greed affects pricing, somewhat. That’s it.
I'll get it when it's on Steam, and on sale. Not before.
Ubisoft is a push and pull between genuinely great devs, superbly made worlds and games and the demands to make money from the company itself.
I wouldn't say they take massives loses. Avatar was great, Xdefiant has been a relatively postive launch and never take those dislike plugins at face value - those are unreliable.
Stuff like this makes the game feel more like a product then a work of art. Like they’re adding stuff just to monetize it instead of it being good for the game.
The problem with preorders before even seeing the gameplay is that there are a LOT of people who preorder the game, so there's no reason for Ubisoft to stop doing that. I know I won't be playing this game at launch and at least a few months after.
Buying the game at launch means paying the most for the worst version of the game
Game’s base price is 70$ like any other game. Games like Elden Ring and GOW also have special editions of over 100$.
Nobody is forcing you to buy the 200$ editions. Just buy the 70$ one!
I think the reason people won't complain is that :
1. It's from fromsoftware they know exactly what they'll get
2. GOW hit the nostalgia and also it's an exclusive PS5 games and usually PS exclusive games are good so they know what to expect
While this game is from Ubisoft who is on a downhill in quality in these past few years, so people don't exactly know what they'll get. And also there's no gameplay shown yet.. and worst the other version have quest unlock behind it so it's like it's either you buy that version and get the quest or you don't.
@@user-ms3do7tf3dFair Enough but lets wait see if the game is good enough to justify the price…..
The problem is that the increase of price is nowhere near equal to what you get. We don't even know if the game is good.

So if you don’t wanna pay why can’t you wait 3 days? Everything “early and exclusive” is always extra.
Its still so baffling too me how long it took them to make a japan assassin's creed game, LIKE BRO NINJAS AND ASSASSIN'S GO TOGETHER LIKE PENUT BUTTER AND JELLY !!!
I would blame the higher-ups at Ubisoft for such selfish greed and perversion to their own franchise. When a SINGLE-PLAYER GAME has a fucking STORE, we have a problem. If we have an anti-consumer CEO blatantly telling gamers “You don’t own anything.”, we have a problem.
@@kevinle1083 soooo how does this explain why they didn’t go to Japan until now?
@@Envixin753 I dunno, I heard a part of the video mentioning preorders and the negatives of ubisoft
@@Envixin753 Because it's so cliche. The west is obsessed with Japan and I know for a fact Ubisoft didn't wanna go the obvious route and make a ninja assassin game. They did good standing on business tbf.

Because they just need a game to succeed and appeasing to the masses of weaboos who wish they were Japanese is the easiest way.
As you can tell I'm disappointed by their decision. There's so much more places you can go to that'd actually be unique in the gaming industry. If you want to keep the violent unifier villain why can't we assassinate Qin Shi Huang the first emperor of China? If it's about the dangerous foreigners why can't we kill a British governor in 19th century Colonial India? Both of those in Asia. Hell what about we explore the Sahel in a Mali creed game, the Red Sea in a Ethiopia creed, the entire German coast in a Hanseatic League creed. Anything but another Japan game
I mean they've been doing 3 editions for more than 10 years now, with the same content, why is it a problem now?

I bought Mirage and never even played more than 4 hours of it. I hate the gameplay of AC now, I hate the bland cutscenes, I hate the dialogue, and I hate the pricing. I’m likely to never play another AC game ever because I don’t see the point in it and it’s getting too expensive for me to handle.
Ngl I quit ac a long time ago and stopped watching this channel but I’m back and start watching this again

The answer to your big question is very very simple - Because people will and are paying for it. No one is being held ransom, we all know it will be cheaper if we wait, so if money is the issue, just wait, its a single player game, your experience won’t be effected. $100+ for a game is a lot for a kid, or someone without a full time job, but lets be serious, this franchise is not meant for kids, and the sales numbers don’t lie, I’ve seen two articles so far boasting strong pre-order numbers. As long as sales remain strong, nothing will change, vote with your wallet. In addition, a lot of people expect to get 350-500 hours of gameplay out of this, so I think that is a pretty good deal compared to most other forms of entertainment. I personally got the Ultimate Edition of Valhalla for $29.99, best return on investment I’ve ever had on a game. If I knew I would have enjoyed it so much, I would have jumped in on day one.
Your best argument so far that can summarize the whole video "at this price I'm expecting a real Katana" and that's how I feel 😂
When pricing where I'm from gets converted to USD, the game is
49.81 Base
77.30 Gold
92.76 Ultimate
Man seeing these prices man I hope that Ubisoft doesn't mess up with shadow because I'm really hoping that it will be amazing
As an AC Fan like you, it breaks my heart as I can already see the game not living upto fans expectations or outdoing Ghost of Tsushima and Ubisoft loosing their foothold, their stocks falling 🥲👍
I'd like to point out Ubi's pricing for Shadows in Canada is ludicrous. Base game is basically $100
The games 130 clams in USD too. I think it’s like 140 or 150 dollars here in Australia which is just bonkers. And yeah, the standard is 70 bucks, but the point still stands
The reason they continue to do it is because people keep pre-ordering

Whataboutism to justify scamming people is definitely an opinion 😂
The best thing about Ubisoft is they release new games every year or two. Look at other medieval games like dragon age, dogma, elder scrolls, Witcher. They take decades, I can’t wait that long for a sequel
Ign said that the samurai is gay is it real or fake
AC Valhalla costed 59.99, it's Gold Edition was 109.99, and its Ultimate was 129.99. This was four years ago. If you look up pricing for Odyssey and Origins, it's very similar. Technically it's cheaper now that games are a base of 69.99 and there's four years of inflation to account for.
Seems like Ubisoft has been pricing their games the same and people hate Ubisoft more than ever.
That 130$ version becomes 150$ Canadian after tax. That’s insane! For context, the standard edition, no bells and whistles, is 89.99$ before tax, and 101 and some change after tax. I want to play this (just the Standard Edition), but I’m going to try wait for a sale and hopefully avoid spoilers.
The most frustrating part… an assassin game base in Japan called Ghost of Tsushima was already made #Masterpiece
i remember paying $120 when i pre ordered origins ultimate edition
the cinematic trailer got ratio'd over yasuke and its stupid as fuck, the game is obviously fictional anyways
Hahahahahahahahahaha stop making excuses. They are blatantly dipping into the DEI woke pool AND they’re raiding your pockets with these dishonest marketing practices. You're right, these prices are a disgrace.
But I don't agree that they are the reason why the trailer got a massive dislike ratio, when looking at the comments you understand it's more about the choice of Yasuke as the protagonist.
70 dollars/euros is a lot, but the worst part is it is 60 pounds, and the last thing I heard was the pound inflating. :(:(:(:(:(

Ubisoft Try Not To Be Absolutely Terrible For 5 Minutes Challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
I'm just really pissed with Ubisoft after what they did to the Crew...
I'd like to speak from the PoV of someone who is a collector specifically. I have pre-ordered every AC game since Syndicate (Bar odyssey because it didn't look interesting but then I found a half price untouched collector's edition). I buy the Collector's edition for the physical stuff, the statues, the steelcases, the art books etc. The in game content I could not care less about, the pre-order missions are usually short and boring, skill points are just meh I'll get them anyway and the skins I doubt I'll be running them because I like to keep the OG robes/outfits as much as I can (or turn them assassin-like, for Valhalla and Odyssey). This still pisses me off that the editions are this expensive for the standard game and some extra content. I expect the collector's to be expensive. Not the standard and gold and ultimate ones
The problem for me isn't really that they sell different editions with different perks. The bigger issue is that the stuff you get in these editions don't justify the price at all imo. Unlike many, I'm fine with 70$ being the new price for standard editions. However, paying like 30-50$ more for editions that basically just offer season pass, some exclusive in-game items and a 3 day early access, which probably won't mean much anyways since I'm guessing most people aren't buying those editions is insane imo.
The way I see it, standard editons and collectors editions are the only game versions that are really worth buying as I don't really see the appeal in exclusive in-game stuff, and I generally think you should only buy expansions once they themselves release. Paying that money up front for expansions you might not even care about seems a bit silly to me.
Totally agree. The base price I feel is justified for games like this. It’s an experience. But you don’t get much more for the extra editions
The most frustrating part is it's 6 months to go
Seeing corporate greed like this makes me not want to play the game at all, honestly. I want to get excited about this, but I just can’t when they do things like this. Player enjoyment should always come first in gaming. And I don’t wanna judge something before I’ve played it, but stuff like this makes the game feel pre-maturely hollow
Mirage was a step in the right direction and now we're progressing backwards. Shame :(
Ubisoft had their chance. Heck, LOTS of them.
when AC was in its prime we were BEGGING for a ninja game and now... well, ghost of tsushima exists and just came to PC.
I got a tip just don't preorder just wait the 3 days extra and you do not need 5 extra skill points.
Just play the game.
Picked up Mirage for %50 off the other day. I do the same with every game. There's so many games now a days, just playing something in my backlog till new games go on sale is never an issue.
Normally, I would agree with people on the outrageous prices of the assassin's creed shadows gold, ultimate and collectors editions, but i never heard of anyone complaining about the gold, ultimate and pantheon editions of assassin's creed odyssey:
1. Assassin's creed odyssey gold edition price: $109.99 plus tax.
2. Assassin's creed odyssey ultimate edition price: $119.99 plus tax.
3. Assassin's creed odyssey the pantheon edition price: $219.99 plus tax.
Its only because i never heard of anyone complaining about those prices leads me to believe that the "ubisoft has gone woke because they decided to include an actual person from the time period for assassin's creed shadows" problem is no longer working for certain people so now they want to make up being angry for the prices of the other versions of assassin's creed shadows and not speak out when it was more of a problem back in 2018. As for me, I'm excited for assassin's creed shadows, and i don't "need to buy a more expensive edition just to play it." It's getting tiresome, and for the people who are true assassin's creed fans, including me, have already pre-ordered this game last week and have no complaints about the direction that the assassin's creed series has taken.
I view the ‘3 Day Early Access’ the same as the 6 month early access for the preorder mission. Both are unnecessary and are done to impulse marketing incentives.
Ubisoft+ subscription is the reason for the high buy price. Its pathetic.
Just pay $18 for the ubisoft+ subscription and call it a day, 1 month is more than enough for most people to play the game anyways and most of them never return to "old games", expecialy in single player based games

Got hyped for the game initially and then saw the prices for the different editions and the hype died
Why Ubisoft needs money it's to expensive to make game and realize it every year
And giving money to the Share holders
Someone needs to buy Ubisoft and change the Company honderd dollars money I rather give that to the poor
The fact that this will be the fourth game with an ingame store means the first three worked well enough. Making the whole idea a genius one. Mostly infuriating, but also genius.
Here's the thing I don't get why do people care? About the price of the editions. just don't pre order the gold edition
I love AC, I've played every game and enjoy them all for what they are... but. The fact that ubisoft has taken so many hits in recent years and still have the balls to push such corporate greed is just sad. They probably wouldn't survive a legit boycott, but I'd be surprised if we make it further than hex without one.
I have a feeling this game is going to be more samurai’s creed than assassins creed
I dont understand the hate. I mean you dont have to buy anything else than the standard edition and that is with 70 $ a normal price for today. The game is also not comparable to AC Mirage because it is 2 times as big and for that I think 70$ are pretty fair.
With all these so called “extras” for AC shadows makes me question whether or not I’ll even buy this game. It’s all just corporate greed.
Shadows is a joke. Ubisoft is a joke.
Ur a joke
No, what's absolutely crap besides the pricing?! Is they made our "Black Samurai" Gay. (Even though in real life, he had a wife and a child) I have 0 against the community, but your crap does not have to be in every show and video games. Shame on Ubisoft..
I blame the people who pay for these editions, it’s the same as how ultimate team modes have ruined sports games
I like what I've seen so far as far as the setting and the protagonists go. But I need to see if Quebec has done *anything* to change the janky, overly exaggerated and poorly animated combat from Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.
I've enjoyed all 3 of those games immensely, but combat has always been my least favorite part in all of them. The animations don't look satisfying or like they connect, the weapons are often oversized, and there's no finesse or style like in older ACs.
After playing Ghost of Tsushima for the past week and a half on PC, I can't imagine something as inelegant as Odyssey's system being forced to work with traditional samurai weapons. I might genuinely just skip this game if the combat is 90% the same mechanically and animation-wise.
I don't mind a checklist map + padded playtime if the core mechanics are satisfying and player expression in stylish combat is present. But if I have to trudge through hundreds of camps using nothing but the same weightless, dodge spam-heavy combat from the past 3 games, this might just be the first mainline AC I wait for a sale on.
This is alongside the ridiculous pricing that's more than worth the criticism shown in the vid. The fact that Ubisoft has gotten away with selling cosmetic MTX in all the mainline ACs for years, like they're fucking F2P games, is also horrible.
Quebec only worked on Odyssey, out of those three. Not sure why you brought up Origins and Valhalla
@@JFVideos960 They built on Origins' combat with Odyssey, which Montreal then built on with Valhalla.
That is to say, Quebec rarely changes mechanics on a deeper level. They just iterate, like they did with Syndicate. I'm hoping Shadows is a step outside of that, and that they actually came up with a combat system that isn't just wildly flailing weapons around in exaggerated ways.
@@SalvationCode true
although i understand the argument i also don't understand why people just don't buy those dumb editions , the ultimate edition price is definitely outrageous but the gold edition pricing seems to make sense and it isn't that unusual to me idk maybe i'm just seeing something different
Just wait a month for it to go on sale or even Black Friday (2 weeks after launch in this case). That's how I've been getting my Ubisoft games for years. They can't help but put their games on sale within the first month. It would probably also have a patch or two by then too.
Just wait a month on any ubisoft game they get at least 30% off on regular editions
I just don't understand why some fans like in this video are upset over Ultimate editions which come with two paid DLCs. Other games do this all the time. To me, it's more of how big a fan of this franchise are you? Do you want to go ahead and already buy the planned DLCs? I'm not a fan of the prices either but Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla all had Ultimate editions and I don't recall as much hate. All of the games had mostly cosmetic microtransactions and we all know none of the games are pay to win. I'm not defending this but it seems more like Ubisoft hate rather than a good criticism.
I can't fathom the hate myself, it is unlogical.
But from the other side, hating on ubisoft is a trend that gets you views
@@moatazamrelrawy9765 I guess. I wonder why these people don't hate on other companies that are worse?
@@ac_nerd9794what companies are worse though? And don’t say EA, because Ubisoft has just became worse than those mfs
@@JFVideos960 EA is definitely more scummy. Most of their games are either pay to win or have pay to win items that are mostly behind a money wall. Activision and Blizzard are both significantly worse than Ubisoft, most mobile developers have shitty business practices such as terrible gatcha systems. Bungie is terrible as of now, I'd argue Microsoft is disgraceful as hell with how they have monetized nearly every facet of Halo Infinite. If anything, Ubisoft has at least delivered single player games that still are much better than most reviews give them credit for, especially on CZcams. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora wasn't phenomenal, but it sure does have many good reviews on Xbox and the game looks fun. All of the Assassin's Creed games whether you like them all or not are some of the best open world games in gaming. You have standouts that can beat them but Ubisoft isn't even that bad. The people raging on about how they said people don't own their games didn't even see what it was about. Just took someone's word for it. That's scummy. If you have a problem, do your own critical thinking and research.
@@ac_nerd9794 I’m talking AAA developers, not mobile. And with the release of XDefiant, you could use the same argument against EA for Ubisoft as well. Or most live service Ubisoft games anyways. Microsoft isn’t worse, be for real. Sure, Halo Infinite is now a milking machine for them, but they still have some good IPs like Forza that they’re not milking. Activision and Blizzard are probably 3rd and 4th worst, behind Ubisoft and EA, and Microsoft would be maybe 5th or 6th after Capcom or Konami. And yes, Bungie is pathetic now
