Here's why: The Manics- also from Wales- did a song called Patrick Bateman, who Christian Bale played in the film adaptation of American Psycho (amazing book and film) Bale later went on to play the lead role in film, The Machinist (brilliant film)- from which the Manics sampled the line "what if I turn into a werewolf or something?" for their track Peeled Apples on Journal For Plague Lovers. (ok think it's safe to say I like a few Welsh men)

I think its incredible to listen to him act, he pulls off the american accent so well when he plays one, yet his british accent is so pronounced. Very few actors can pull this off convincingly.
I love how this shows he can have some legitimate fun while not doing what everyone tells him to do. Even if interviews aren't his favorite thing, I love seeing him enjoy them like that!
Plus, he's been living here since he was 17...in one interview he says even in his daily life he catches himself switching accents and sometimes needs to remind himself that his 'normal' voice is British.

I've seen various interviews where he's had drastically different accents suiting whatever film he's just stared in or about to star in suggesting that he works incredibly hard with a vocal coach when preparing for the roles so much so that it sticks after the film - this interview being case and point. The same year as this interviews show him with an american accent as he was in Equilibrium.
