- This is the first vlog to our Sandals Ochi series. In this trip we have a butler level poolside suite and explore the beautiful resort in Jamaica. We being with flying into the country and having a DISASTER of an experience with Club Mobay. We check in and receive our butler and venture off to the first dinner, Valentinos. I really don't see anything to complain about in this video. It's pretty much a standard all-inclusive resort with butler service. The only thing worth complaining about is the fact that they never emailed your reservation to the lounge people at the airport. Other than that, I honestly think you are reaching- especially the guy. I also sensed that the girl was feeding off the guy's energy. It's funny how someone being negative can transfer their energy to the other person. Must have ruined the entire trip for her. You can't convince me otherwise so don't try.
I’ve been dreaming of and saving for going to Sandals Negril for over 20 years. Finally booked it for 9/23. I’ve watched every promotional video and was so hyped. And along came you. Glad my expectations are knocked down a peg. But also bummed.
I am glad you came across our videos. You are staying at a different sandals resort in Jamaica, so just remember it could be a different experience for you as each resort is very different. I am hoping you have an amazing stay, my only thing would be the food is not what we expected but we are big foodies. Our experience was not what we expected, But every resort is different, so I hope you have a amazing time. Let us know how it is!😊
We love Sandals. Ochi is the cheapest resort they have and is also spread out. It also hasn’t been updated in a long time. I wouldn’t be deterred. You will have a fantastic time

We are at sandals ochi right now. Club mobay went great. It was a million percent worth it. The lines are awful if you dont do it. Our room is great, service has been terrific. So far, so good.

There is another airport (KIN) however it’s about the same distance to sandals ochi

We leave Sunday for this trip to Ochi. We have club mobay. And a private lift to the resort. We booked the candle lit dinner because of your review.
We do not have a butler room but club level. We plan on booking a cabana several days. Anything you would recommend?!?!
That is exciting!! You will absolutely love the dinner it was amazing. Definitely try and plan dinner around the nightly entertainment as we found it was AMAZING and the staff there wonderful. Other than that sounds like you have a perfect trip planned!
Very informative video. My wife and I will be visiting Ochi in December staying in the Great House. It's our first time trying the Butler level so we want to see if it's worth it and what the hype is about.
I thought about getting Club Mobay but I feel like it's not worth it when you're only in the lounge for less than 20-30 minutes, and there's a Sandals lounge at the airport. I thought Club Mobay came with the private airport transfer but I guess that's an extra cost. Either way, a little disappointing to spend nearly 2 hours on the tiny bus when they have the larger ones available, especially at Butler level.
I was under the impression that Butler Level got private in-room check in with your butler but that doesn't appear to be your experience. Also a little disappointing. I'll be on the lookout for that while we're there.
Finally, we visited Sandals Antigua for our honeymoon in 2021 and because we're big foodies the first thing I asked about was restaurants. I had a spreadsheet made up with hours, cuisine, and attire so I could easily select reservations when we arrived, only to be told everything online is incorrect and the restaurants have different hours. That was annoying but we rolled with it and got to eat everywhere we wanted, but definitely not wasting my time with that this time.
Overall I try to tamper my expectations and enjoy relaxing. I feel like there are a lot of things that can go wrong but as long as I have a good time, have some drinks, and am full, I'm pretty happy.
Thank you for your comment! We were also surprised at the tiny bus for being a butler level suite. Now, technically, we did have a butler, private room check in. However, we had to go to the main lobby first and then she picked us up and drove us there and showed us the room in about two minutes gave us the phone and then headed out.
That is funny you say that, I am very tight day, and I also had the same thing typed out and brought with me. I even had a itinerary made to give to my butler, right when we got there. And of course everything had to be switched around you two things online being incorrect.
I hope you enjoy your experience, we did overall enjoy our stay, but it just was not exactly what we had expected prior. Let us know how it goes! ☺️
What was your opinion of the Hop? Something turning me off of Ochi is having to take the transportation between like it’s almost a different resort. But was it not bad at all? Did you stay beachside or hillside?
We found the hop to be pretty quick and convenient! We were on the hillside. However it was kind of annoying having to take a bus anytime we wanted a different restaurant, show, or just the beach. It wasn’t bad I would say but it was a bit annoying/inconvenient. Luckily it was never a really long wait
Pre-Covid they had a full bar in the Sandals lounge - sadly I doubt they ever bring it back.
Wow good to know! Yeah many things pre Covid for a lot of resorts haven’t come back sadly
Well Sandals get to cut back on what they put in the Sandals lounge.
We always use Club Mobay and we definitely always book direct!!

How much did you tip the butler after 5 days? Is there a daily norm window?
Sadly there is no norm window per say as we talked to a lot of people and each was very different. However we tipped between $20/$25 each day!
Did you book 2 different suites? Also are you posting. Any more Ochi videos?

With club Mobay did they assist with luggage? Thinking it’s worth the money to skip the lines but not sure of all the amenities with that!
They assisted with your luggage once you got through all of the security checkpoints. Once you get to the lounge area, they take your bags for you!
No offense but you guys picked the cheapest and worse ranked sandals resort. What do you expect?
Unfortunately we did not know there was a “cheap and worst” sandals resort. We thought all sandals were held to the same standards. We liked the location and how many restaurants were available. We were unaware it was even the cheapest. Figured all sandals were held to the “high sandals quality”

Not sure I’d base my opinion of Sandals, on Ocho Rios. Realize it’s there company, but they also own much better (in my opinion).
