Recently switched over from an Apple Watch and now I am using a galaxy watch 7 and loving it. Although the Apple Watch was accurate I had issues with a few models over the years with the heart rate sensor dropping out. Some days I would get one hrv rating and some days it would be four it was inconsistent and twice during marathons the sensor would just stop working for thirty minutes at a time.

One thing that keeps me from going back to Android/WearOS is the Apple ecosystem support for Diabetes monitoring devices. My CGM connects directly to my Apple Watch Ultra 2 so I can continue monitoring my BG even when I don't have my phone on me. There is actually no official support for CGM's on WearOS devices, you are forced to use 3rd party apps and none of them really work well. If my CGM worked with WearOS and had the same experience or better than my Apple devices, I would likely switch back in a heart beat.

When I'm running I could not hear the audio from the AWU2, it's very loud with Samsung Ultra useful for reps and Hr readout etc. Better user experience with Ultra so easy to use the new ultra watch faces put it level with the Apple in terms of looks.

The Samsung Ultra is a very cool looking watch, but it’s the lack of fitness and hiking support that kills it. There is no apps like WorkOutDoors that has hiking maps or TRIMP based heart rate workout and training load suggestions like Athlytic, Gentler Streak or Healthfit on the Android platform. Garmin and Apple are way ahead right now in the fitness space. Which is too bad because this hardware is pretty awesome and the software experience is superior in many ways.

My Apple Watch in Nav, I just glance at it for the turns.
And let’s be honest who is using a watch to browse?
    Workouts:
Never had it where I needed to count steps and workout. The iPhone auto does step counts when the watch is busy.
Blood O2 yeah fortunately all of us who got tech before then are just fine.
Odds are they’ll have that sorted by next watch season. I mean… a company that big… they got money to grease a few palms just like Samsung and Google.
    Sleep apnea:
Yeah that’s cool, but if my partner has to slap me to get ne to start breathing again due to snoring, I’m sure I’ll know without the watch.
Workout detection: yeah apples had that for a while. It kicks in after a few minutes for me. Can determine indoor vs outdoor walk, run, etc…. Fortunately me just saying “Siri start X workout” or doing shortcuts if it’s that interesting is simple enough.
As for phone compatibility yeah that’s cool might be an issue I guess, but I don’t like Google. They made the operating system and profit by stealing data about what I do on my stuff.
My stuff is my stuff. Just my pov.
    I like my iphone.
    AI.
Yeah watchOS 11 I’ve been testing it. Has cool AI features.
Still in beta till September so not all features are out just yet.
But as of yet the voice transcription is by far the best of any watch (yes even pixel watch)
Overall it’s a nice watch. But Google has enough data. And I’m not comfortable giving it to a company that sells my data without me also profiting. I did have to buy the device they use to steal from me after all.
