Atletico Madrid defeated us and knocked us out of the quarter-final.

You don't "deserve" a trophy. Valencia in 2001 was one of the best teams in the world and they too lost in penalty shootouts against Bayern Munich in their second consecutive final. That was their last chance to win it, and they ruined it. That's how football is.
