  • This Big Alberta Black Bear was guarding his bait, when he smelled a new scent he came strait in, stared me down and walked right to the stand. After a few minutes of staring me down he decided to get a closer look and got up on the tree.....FUN TIMES!

Nice bear. It's the ones that climb up while carrying a crowbar and a Sawzall that you have to watch for.

I too was once an ‘ignorant animal rights bleeding heart liberal’ like these commentators but I grew up & learned that it IS our hunters who are the true animal activists & conservationists by ensuring a healthy population of species instead of an overpopulated, sick & dying a most lengthy & painful death because of starvation!

You were never an animal rights activist. Hunters are not conservationists. You're one of those stupid bitches who believes whatever your new boyfriend tells you to believe. Fuck you!

You are the one actually open minded to truth. That's what open mindedness is - not jargon to lose your opinions for someone else's. Thank you for looking at things honestly. Now if we can make them understand cutting SOME of the forests is good to prevent forest fires... next episode. :)

Makes me appreciate the size of a black bear. Most of the time luckily in these instances bears are just curious. Being up in a tree like that is already a sign of caution for most bears.

One quick swipe and he would have had you on the ground. These big boars hunt calf moose, a human would be ripped apart.

Smart animal - is why it survived to be a prize sized bear. This is why I carry a .44mag Ruger when I hike in addition to bear spray.

Smart man. Almost everyone who was KILLED and eaten ALIVE by a 🐻 BEAR did not have a FIREARM. I take a 12 gauge with grizzly shots s and a 45 revolver for back up when I go to my cabin in the Adirondacks

Is there some reason you don't carry a large capacity pistol while hunting? It can really come in handy.

You COULD carry a sawed off shotgun with slugs (which ARE legal in Canada). I't get a double barrel in that setup.

Never play dead for a black bear attack. If they're angry when they see you, it could be not be an attack but an emotional surprise.
If they approach silently in stealth mode like in this video with their ears pointing up they aren't being yogi bear friendly. It's stalking and a potential sign they see you as food and result in an attack. Imagine if this was at picth black midnight. This video is quite interesting, perhaps the bear was already full or testing the waters for another occasion.
