Anyone who has been in a home defense situation will tell you that 9 times out of 10 just racking the slide wont deter anyone, if they’re in your house while you’re home they probably mean you harm and dont care that you have a gun.
I've been in more than one. Spent a good portion of my life in sketchy neighborhoods. It's pretty safe to say that most burglars who encounter homeowners, don't plan on those people being there. Most will run at the sound of a door or a light coming on.
If they function as a team, generally they're making a ton of noise anyway so racking isn't doing shit for you. General sop in that situation is to announce that you have a weapon and order them to leave. A lot of states require that in fact, you leave if possible.
Fortunately, I've never had to shoot anyone who forced entry into anywhere I was living or staying. Glad I didn't. The few times I actually got a chance to see the intruder, they were kids. Piece of shit or not, I'd rather not turn a teenagers chest into mincemeat.

Larry Vickers even mentioned in one of his videos (or article) a while back that only a minority of members in the overall SOF community would be considered “gun guys”. There's one thing in the M82 gameplay footage at 18:15, that just makes me wonder why there was no comment about this. As they are talking about the ship there was an enemy surviving a hit to the chest/shoulder region by the .50 cal. I'm pretty sure, that's not something one would just brush off IRL.
In CoD this makes sense though. All sniper rifles in this game would have different calibers in real life, but share the same damage values in game. This includes the recently added ZRG 20mm.
Sniper rifles seem to be the top tier of unrelistic weapons in CoD, but they can still be fun to play and I'd say that's what matters most in a game.

So what he means with suppressors with sub sonic and super sonic is: the suppressor is more or less quieter to the shooter’s ear as well as a close vicinity such as people around 10 yards. However... there is a difference between subsonic and super sonic rounds. Subsonic rounds travel at a slower speed so they don’t break the sound barrier when they travel past the barrel. Supersonic rounds travel faster than the speed of sound making the sonic boom, so even if your a good distance out, you’ll hear the sound of the bullet traveling by before you hear the sound of the gun, if you hear the sound of the gun. Of course there are ways to reduce a supersonic to sub sonic such as the MP5 SD. You port the barrel near the base, you get a suppressor that will screw on at the bottom of the barrel. Upon firing, the gas will push the projectile out and past the ports. Once past, the gas will escape the barrel into the suppressor while gas in the barrel is still pushing the projectile but at a slower rate. The projectile will leave slower and the gas has cooled down before reaching the end of the barrel so the firearm is much quieter.

I could let it go with a previous video with Cameron but I can't let it go here the .50 BMG was not designed originally as an anti armour round. It was designed during WW1 in response to a need for anti aircraft weaponry. The thing is though with anti aircraft weapons you have to either have mass or velocity in order to reach high enough to hit a moving plane. As a result many anti aircraft weapons are useful against armour as well. For instance the DShk was also designed as an anti air weapon. The Flak 88 and 128 also anti-air but all had applications as anti armour weapons.
The devs should total up how many rounds of each different type have been shot over the course of the games life, then tally up the amount of money it wouldve taken to pay for each individual shot fired :P
They DO keep track of all that stuff by the way, every shot fired, every grenade, every death, in every multiplayer game.
They did that sort of thing on black ops 1

4:12 the flashbangs detonate like a second after throwing. it had gone off way before he entered the building (you can see the hitmarker on the center of the screen).
also, flashbangs do in fact, in every game, flash the thrower. you can even see it on the next clip
also also, a lot of guns have multiple redundant attachments because each one of them increases the gun's stats (recoil, weight, aim down sight speed, hip fire accuracy, etc), on top of the functional physical laser or sight, so it benefits you, for example having a sight and a laser because the laser increases the stats, provides a hip firing laser pointer, as well as you having a scope to aim down if you need the distance
50BMG was developed by The Godfather of guns John Moses Browning along side his M2 machine gun originally as an anti-aircraft gun. The round was designated as an anti material round and was later used in rifles. Though it could be and was and is effectively used against tanks, it was developed for planes.
