Closkelt Pipe Band runs into a shower at the 2024 British Pipe Band Championships in Forres

- Closkelt Pipe Band performs a March, Strathspey and Reel set at the 2024 British Pipe Band Championships held in Forres. Full results for all the day's band competitions are at bit.ly/forres24.
The band's selection of tunes was:
March: Lord Alexander Kennedy - James Honeyman, c. 1850 - c. 1890
Strathspey: The Shepherd's Crook - traditional
Reel: The Smith of Chilliechassie - traditional
Mixed weather was forecast for the day - and that is what we got. Closkelt's performance started in sunshine but a heavy squally shower soon took over.
Closkelt Pipe Band is playing under the direction of Pipe Major David Chesney and the Leading Drummer is Brendan Megoran. Ten grade bands competed in the Grade One contest and this band and was placed tenth.
Closkelt Pipe Band is based in the townland of Drumgooland in County Down and dates from 1938. It wears the Drumgooland tartan.
The championships were organised by The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in conjunction with YBD Music Ltd. They were held on Saturday, 8 June 2024 in Grant Park, Forres.
