Could be that it's the timeline where v spares him but then passes away. Smasher obviously would get a new body but become even more deranged and obsessive of finding another opponent that could do him in like v seeing as he never got a rematch and thus no satisfaction. Just like how he had his obsession with Morgan blackhand
