Iâve never heard of hair losing curls when itâs short, Iâve gone from long to short and my hair only gets curlier lol, though my hair is the kind that will curl even after Iâve fried it with bleach (from experience) so perhaps if you have a looser/weaker curl it could be affected by not following the same hair routine from when you wore it long?
You did a great job getting some curl action back! Diffuser hack: take a lightweight cotton tee or sock and fasten it over the hairdryer nozzle with a rubber band and use a lower heat/speed setting while you dry from below/underneath. This has worked for me in the past. Hope this helpsđđŒđ
Guys. Yâall donât need to gatekeep curly or wavy hair. Curls can be loose. Waves can be tighter (smaller S wave pattern). I went to cosmetology school and one thing I learned really fast is that thereâs all different types of hair.. and for some reason people are really sensitive to the word âcurlyâ. Curls come in all shapes and sizes. You can have kinky tight curls all the way to loose big curls. Itâs just shape and how it grows out. It isnât that deep. Her hair in the longer picture looks to be around a 2b which is technically waves but I canât say for sure that she doesnât have any actual curl patterns in there as well.
Thank you for being a voice of reason for this comments section. People are seriously sensitive to the word curl. I have "wavy", as they call it, hair and I've had waist length hair that was cut into a bob. And let me TELL YOU the curls that I got when it was short. I have fine, fine hair, but a LOT of it, so there are plenty or curls, or waves, whatever you wanna call it, but only if it's a bob or shorter for me.
If you want volume try styling it upside down & scrunching/ploping toward your scalp. Also, you can try plopping it into a tee shirt to dry rather than using a towel.
I would recommend you use a diffuser attachment on a hairdryer and you dry it the pixie method, so you collect the hair in the diffuser while itâs off, and when it reaches your scalp, you turn it on and once itâs dry you turn it off and take the diffuser away and do that all round your head (doing it this way reduces frizziness, thatâs why you turn off the hair dryer before putting on and removing it)
funnily enough I have the exact opposite problem. I used to have wavy hair as a child but not anymore, but then suddenly for no reason, when I cut my bangs and front pieces a few months ago it suddenly got rlly wavy which is,,, now I look like a jellyfish bc the short front of my hair is curly but the long parts aren't đ đ đ
Same here. Use to have completely straight hip-length hair but after I started cutting it short I suddenly have wavy curls. I mean, I should have guessed, looking at my dad's hair doing the same, but it still caught me off-gaurd
Lol, don't tease me to cut my daughters hair short lol I always wanted to have kids with curly hair and since my husband has curly hair I assumed that I have a greater chance... Well my daughter has wavy hair so beautiful đ but I wish it was real curly đ like her dad and when her hair was shorter it looked more curly and right now her hair is long but I'm tempted to cut it.... But I shouldn't lol....
I use a tshirt towel. And silk pillow case so my hair is the healthiest it can be. Ive tried getting one of those brushes where the Brissels move so itâs not tugging that much on your hair as well. Itâs been helping with my curls a lot.
Something that works so well for my hair is whole blends hair honey! After I bleached my hair for highlights my hair wasn't as wavy as before, but I started using the hair honey after taking a shower and it worked! I definitely recommend it and it will help bring back more of the wavyness.
I think we have the same hair type! When mine is short doing the finger curling technique along with using mousse works for me. I also use a root volumizer and it helps to bring my curls back, too
Wouldn't recommend to wavy hair people. Wave & curl is 2 different thing. Curly hair gets curlier the shorter their length. Waves need the length to further make the wavy visual more prominent, thus the belief of "loosing wave when it's shorter". You have to research what class of wave is your hair before researching for the style. Mine is 3a/3b, couldn't rock the 2a/2b hairstyle as I hoped.
I can tell that your hair isn't necessarily curly, it's wavy. Mine is curly, once I cut it the curl pattern became SO much more intense. However yours seems to do the opposite, the curl pattern gets less prominent the shorter it is
Itâs the other way around for me. When I let it grow it becomes more wavy, because itâs too heavy to sustain the curls. But when itâs short I donât have to do any styling whatsoever, just let it air dry and I get curls.
Okay that makes so much more sense Iâve had my hair shorter than a bob for a while and I was really confused because I knew I had some pretty waves and curls but it always looked straight, and then I shaved it all off lol
I really love that everyone is being really nice and respectful telling her that itâs because she has very loose waves and not curly hair. Keep it up guys :)
They are âSâ shaped Curls Sure they arenât âCâ shaped Curls or Coils but they are still regarded to be curls. She doesnât have layers so weight makes it lose curl volume and appears wavy. Which waves are still considered a curl pattern, just a lot looser.
Also try shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie w/silk and neem oil (basically a hair coconut oil) and then strunch it in. Do it right after you get out of the shower but blot your hair and brush it first for the best result. I use it on my hair. my hair isnât as short as yours but it will do a lot mine is shoulder length but a wolf cut.
don't use sheamoisture - the intense amount of butters and oils in their products dry curly hair out (and we all know curly hair is already naturally dry) and the products are super damaging
Iâm always so self conscious about the fact that one side of my face seems bigger than the other and my hairline sits higher on that side making it seem more like that. But you have similar characteristics to that and are so beautiful! It makes me more confident that Iâm not the only one with an asymmetrical face đ
My hair is a similar length, but a tighter coil pattern. From the video, it looks like you brush your hair back while it's wet after washing it. This can straighten out looser curl patterns, especially on shorter hair since the 'clump' of curls is smaller. Brush your hair before washing or while conditioning it, and then only use your fingers to sort of separate out the clumps of curls. Also, make sure your hair is like dripping wet when you put the mousse in, and dry it with a cotton shirt instead of a towel. I find that drying the hair after applying the product helps distribute it evenly and prevent that crunchy texture. Good luck!
Usually... if you do have curly hair, the shorter it is... the lighter it is... which accentuates the curls... Where as in your case... you only have wavy hair lovely. So when you cut it short... you must've cut it to the start of your natural wave pattern... taking away the beginning of your waves... they'll soon come back once you've grown back a couple inchesđ„°
To style your hair in a French bob, follow these steps: 1. Start with clean, dry hair. If your hair is wet, blow-dry it first. 2. Part your hair in the center or on one side, depending on your preference. 3. Take a section of hair from the front, about an inch wide, and comb it straight down. 4. Cut the hair to your desired length, keeping it slightly longer in the front and gradually shorter towards the back. 5. Continue cutting small sections of hair, working your way around your head. Use the first section as a guide to maintain a consistent length. 6. Once you've cut all the hair, use a comb to ensure it's even and adjust any uneven sections if necessary. 7. Style your French bob by adding texture or waves. You can use a curling iron or a straightener to create loose, soft waves or curls. Alternatively, you can use a texturizing spray and scrunch your hair with your hands for a more relaxed look. 8. Finish with hairspray to hold the style in place.
Girl use some gel with your mousse and individually twist each strand to help your hair settle into a nice structured curl, you will LOOOVE the outcome

Girls I got some news for y'all but if your hair looks like her beautiful hair in this video, it's wavy, not curly. That's why you're having a hard time getting it to curl; it's not curly lol it's wavy.
I guess it also depends on hair type, like if your hair is too thick or heavy the waves wont show?
You did a great job getting some curl action back! Diffuser hack: take a lightweight cotton tee or sock and fasten it over the hairdryer nozzle with a rubber band and use a lower heat/speed setting while you dry from below/underneath. This has worked for me in the past. Hope this helpsđđŒđ
Shes givin serious Lorde vibes
I have short hair that curls up while wet. Brushing it out before they dry makes them flat
Mine is the same. The shorter it is the straighter it is. Wavy the rest of the time
it looks amazing after the mousse
Your hair is so beautiful.
I was just about to come comment on how you must not have graduated bc her long her is not even close to a 2B but I see other ppl beat me to it đ
Love your long hair look!
If you want volume try styling it upside down & scrunching/ploping toward your scalp. Also, you can try plopping it into a tee shirt to dry rather than using a towel.
I would recommend you use a diffuser attachment on a hairdryer and you dry it the pixie method, so you collect the hair in the diffuser while itâs off, and when it reaches your scalp, you turn it on and once itâs dry you turn it off and take the diffuser away and do that all round your head (doing it this way reduces frizziness, thatâs why you turn off the hair dryer before putting on and removing it)
If I get the ends point cut, I still have wave and curls depending how I style it. If it's blunt cut, it tends to go more straight.
You got waves ma'am.
Yes, this happened to me too when I cut my hair, I have almost no curl pattern now but itâs way less work to maintain so I love it
funnily enough I have the exact opposite problem.
This happened to me too. I donât cut bangs anymore đ
Same here. Use to have completely straight hip-length hair but after I started cutting it short I suddenly have wavy curls.
I mean, I should have guessed, looking at my dad's hair doing the same, but it still caught me off-gaurd
Lol, don't tease me to cut my daughters hair short lol
I always wanted to have kids with curly hair and since my husband has curly hair I assumed that I have a greater chance...
Well my daughter has wavy hair so beautiful đ but I wish it was real curly đ like her dad and when her hair was shorter it looked more curly and right now her hair is long but I'm tempted to cut it.... But I shouldn't lol....
You looked so good in long hair â€
You could try curlers, or finger waves. Your hair cut looks so 20's -- really cute bob. đ
same. used to have ring curls when i had long hair now i have cut my hair and i have wavy hair in some parts and straight in others
Noooooo thats so sad
I use a tshirt towel. And silk pillow case so my hair is the healthiest it can be. Ive tried getting one of those brushes where the Brissels move so itâs not tugging that much on your hair as well. Itâs been helping with my curls a lot.
Looks good on you girl
Something that works so well for my hair is whole blends hair honey! After I bleached my hair for highlights my hair wasn't as wavy as before, but I started using the hair honey after taking a shower and it worked! I definitely recommend it and it will help bring back more of the wavyness.
I think we have the same hair type! When mine is short doing the finger curling technique along with using mousse works for me. I also use a root volumizer and it helps to bring my curls back, too
Also trying to find a stylist that works with curls to get a curly cut might help too!
Carol's daughter products, works for me
Brad mondo wave tech might help. Denman, plop, diffuse. Ouidad makes a great gel too. The humidity control one.
Gotta scrunch it and use curl cream. Your hair is lovely!
I had the opposite effect⊠but I really started loving my curls / waves so much more when I went short.
Yes!! I went through this too! Definitely get more of a curl when my hair is long!
Just a small tip, if you want mousse to work really well pop all the bubbles in the hand before rubbing it in. Helps with even saturation.
love it! next time i recommend "plopping" (a t-shirt wrapping technique) instead of using a towel at all, even if it's gentle
Your WAVES need more length, you don't have curls.
I really love that everyone is being really nice and respectful telling her that itâs because she has very loose waves and not curly hair. Keep it up guys :)
Scrunch it. You'll get the curls you want. A little curl gel and scrunch it. That's how I styled my short hair when I had it
Your hair is wavy girl not even trying to hate just saving you from the stress
Those aren't curls
They are âSâ shaped Curls
Sure they arenât âCâ shaped Curls or Coils but they are still regarded to be curls.
She doesnât have layers so weight makes it lose curl volume and appears wavy.
Which waves are still considered a curl pattern, just a lot looser.
Wavy curly hair does that. I have ringlets when my hair is long but they disappear when it's short.
I'd highly recommend Brad Mondo's Wave tech. My husband uses it, and it creates the most beautiful curls.
Try a denman or the brush with the separated bristled sections. Will work magicđ
Your hair is wavy not curly ..............
You are so gorgeous with long hair
To style your hair in a French bob, follow these steps:
8. Finish with hairspray to hold the style in place.
here is a tip! if you dry your hair w a shirt instead of a towel it will be WAYYYY less frizzy
Iâd look into wavy hair routines. Usually you want your hair to be pretty wet when putting in products and a few other techniques
SO CUTE!!!
Get a diffuser. It makes all the difference especially on shorter wavy hair
She had more trust in that towel then I have in myself
curly hair gets curlier as you cut it, you have super cute waves tho đ«¶đœ
Let it grow.
Girl use some gel with your mousse and individually twist each strand to help your hair settle into a nice structured curl, you will LOOOVE the outcome
