"Frightned children, they're scared to hell!" that some doom metal lyrics by the end. This band is criminally overlooked; absolutely amazing stuff

The 3:50 - 4:33 section never had a better recording. This is the best version of Armageddon.

    lyrics
It's a holocaust coming from the East,
A great angry bird, spreading its word,
And we're gonna be its feast,
The sky will be red and the ground will shake,
The day of Judgement has come,
    Armageddon has arrived.
    [Chorus:]
Who will balance my life against yours?
Who will hold my soul in his hand?
Who will deliver me to the Devil?
Who can rid the Earth of this evil?
The World is in the bloody hands of Fate,
    Warheads burn, they can't return,
    The hour is too late,
The Sands of Time are running dry,
The bird is in full flight,
    Armageddon has arrived.
    [Chorus]
Marching, marching, off to war we go,
Leading, leading, our bloody seeds to sow,
Onward, onward, life is bloody fine,
    Marching, marching,
    We haven't got much time,
Atomic rain falls from the sky,
To wash blood from the land,
    Frightened children are praying,
The sky is red with the Fires of Hell,
    Destiny is stillborn,
    Destiny is stillborn.
    Frightened children,
    They're scared to Hell,
    They've heard the tolling of
    The Great Black Bell,
    They're so scared,
    They're scared to Hell.
    Frightened children,
    They're scared to Hell,
They've heard that Satan has a tale to tell,
    They're so scared,
    They're scared to Hell.

a good bridge between 70s heavy metal and Misfits' style of punk! with a singing style that surely had a great impact on James Hetfield (he sounds almost the same on his early demos)

that's what I thought, but their voices are compatible too, james doesn't struggle like he does when he is trying to mimic Sean Harris voice

A bit deeper here than James. He was definitely using Harris as a blueprint.

This was far better than the album version and lyrics better on 'Frightened Children' part. The extra lyrics they added on the album ruined the atmosphere of the song

    • @LarryBarry39
      @LarryBarry39 Před 6 měsíci +1

Agreed. There was so much echo on the new version, too. Only the “marching, marching, of to war we go” segment really sounded better.

@@Nightbreakereturns It's a similar vibe, yes, but not even close to what I call a rip-off. A rip off would more be Killing Joke taking The Damned's riff and subsequently Nirvana using the same riff for Come As You Are. This doesn't fit, I think.
