- Inspired by true events, Sitting in Bars with Cake follows best friends Jane (Yara Shahidi) and Corinne (Odessa A’zion) navigating life in Los Angeles in their twenties. Corinne, the ultimate extrovert, convinces her shy-but-extremely-talented home baker best friend Jane to commit to a year of baking cakes and bringing them to bars, with the goal of meeting people and developing confidence-also known as “cakebarring.” During their year of “cakebarring,” Corinne receives a life-altering diagnosis, and the pair face a challenge unlike anything they’ve experienced before. It's giving _Beaches_ for Gen Z, and it even has Bette Midler as a nod to the original _Beaches._ Love it. I wish Hollywood made more films about friendships.

I have been waiting for Yara shahidis work on screen for MONTHS. It kills me that she doesn't get to promote it because of the strike, but in the long term its the best for the writers and cast and crew in Hollywood. Im so excited to see this show. Seventh Sun here WE GOOOO!!!

I worked as my mom's caregiver when she was sick. This got me right where it hurts but it feels cathartic. I look forward to watching this and having a good cry.

Yall are highly confused. The depth of a character is based off of the writers, not the actor. Yara can barely act, same with zendaya. Zendaya can only play one role well & that's one that's nonchalant.

@@ValenciaRose. from what i've seen of her in euphoria (mind u i haven't watched the show only a bunch of scenes) zendaya played rue with real depth. she portrayed the vulnerabilty/irrationality of a drug addict, the shame of an older sister disappointing her little sister, and the betrayal she felt from jules extremely well.
