From the Field -- Dancing Wings/Bitgo Hobby PT-17 Stearman Detailing

- There were a couple of things I wanted to go back to on the DW PT-17 from Bitgo Hobby as out of the box, the tires are too small and kind of hard and there's no pilot included. Well, with a few simple replacements and touchups and the addition of a 1/6 scale US Navy Pilot with moving head from warbirdpilots.com (these pilots are awesome!), it really helped bring the model to life. So, in the video I show the tire replacement with Robart 3-3/4" diamond tread, dry brushing on the engine to help bring it to life, and then installing the pilot with my Random Servo Motion Generator. The captain is calm as can be putting his Stearman to work! (as you'll see from the onboard footage) 🤣

Such a brave pilot to be so calm. He's an inspiration to us all!
Indeed, haha!
Great work as always! Thanks for sharing. 😃🛩👍
Chris that pilot is just the finishing touch on an already great plane!
That pilot has nerves of steel! Never cracked a smile on that whole crazy ride!
Great stuff!
Haha, he had his game face on for the camera 🤣
Great flight Chris, so love the turning head. 👍🏻
These Dancing wing models are really outstanding. So glad to see a Warbird pilot in there! I use them in all my larger models also. Beautiful flying Chris, beautiful model!
They are pretty nice. Couple of tweaks and they’d be even better!
Nice touches...the pilot is awesome!👍👍
Excellent, great stuff and great advice as always. Love the pilot. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
Dry brushing is one of the coolest ways to add details.I have never flown a bipe, the PT-17 is on of my favorite airplanes. I love the pilot, I almost had to force myself to check out the rest of the model.
Very cool Chris!
Looks great Chris! Love the engine idea! I’m stealing it! 😂
very different from your normal videos, but every bit as GOOD : )
You are in a world above all others.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for the kind words!
Slammed it again Geek Man 👍
👍👍😊😊
Beautiful plane Chris. I don’t know but that canopy glass could use a nice 3D printed or use a different one. The instrument panel is Awesome. Nice flying brother 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Thanks! Yeah, the canopy glass bugs me, haha
You would think a $800 plane would 😳
@@eqrc7587 Mate!
Ken is kinda back online?
TWO PIOLOTS NO FEAR LOOKS LIKE ROOM FOR A PASSENGER ALSO CHEERS
Excellent. I would like to do something with my windshields to flimsy. I may build from scratch notice yours had same issues. Grate job.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the windscreens. I had recommended something different, but not sure that was addressed unfortunately.
Brilliant!
My Pilot head servo would need to be faster, making His Head Shake at the RC Kook trying to style.
Great show RCG.
Haha
Beautifully done as always Chris. Nice work on the upgrades. I’m wondering if a a length of carbon fiber could stiffen the top of the windshield.
Gorgeous plane!
It ultimately needed to have been made from a more rigid plastic. Adding to stiffeners to the frame would help though for sure.
Awesome video! Can you tell me which motor/prop you went with?
It was what I received with the model. I believe it was a tomcat 400kv motor. I don’t remember the prop offhand.
Very Cool! My PT 17 is on the way so checking out everybody’s tips and mods to help me. One question didn’t you put the flying wires between the wings? Any reason?
I didn’t do the flying wires mostly because I didn’t want to bother with it, haha! It was going to be tedious and I was lazy. 🤣
It's a beatiful model.
Btw, are you shiping to EU or NA only?
Yes, I ship internationally. 😊
Hey, what throws have you on elevator?
I don’t recall offhand but I go over that in my flight review: czcams.com/video/9Gb98pURRN0/video.html
Have you ever used VESS props? I think it would perform & look better.
Can’t say Ive ever heard of them.
@@Thercgeek great quiet prop. Very smooth power band. You must be mindful of a prop strike as they are made of wood.
Nice. The wind-screen needs upgrading ...
Indeed!
The turning pilot head is EPIC cool. But all the work into scale modeling goes out the window when that dorky little electric motor kicks on. A Stearman sounds like an angry Harley. Go get a radial engine for this thing!
Haha! She’s a bit small for the available radials out there. A glow four stroke would sound cool though.
I thought it was mandatory for all bi-plane pilots to have a scarf trailing in the breeze. Haha
Haha, indeed
Windshields looks kinda flimsy.🙁 Everything else is good 😊
They are, haha! I had recommended something a bit more robust, but not sure they made it into the final offering.
I order the 1400 mm version of this plane and it arrived damaged 2 weeks ago. It's been radio silence from Bitgo Hobby about sending a replacement part. I've called, emailed, used their chat, etc. and have received no communication for two weeks. I would not recommend this company.
Has your problem been solved?
