- I love this impromptu performance Crowe and Jackman did, I like it more than the movie version. But it always bothered me that all the recordings of this were flawed in some way. All shakey camera, bad audio. So I did an edit that utilises the sound from the best sounding one, and all three camera perspectives I could find.
it’s amazing what actors can do when they’re not deprived of water for 2 days and actually given good stage direction

Because he wasn’t forced to sing full throttle for take after take after take. There’s a reason why musicals on film record the songs on an audio track separately from the live action.
Because Tom Hooper shouldn't be allowed to direct musicals.

Russell Crowe's career started as Eddie/Dr. Scott in Rocky Horror Show. He's a theater guy. Les Miserables was directed by an incompetent guy who didn't understand musicals.

The movie had a ton of production issues. Which led to their perfomances being off due to countless problems. This set-up is much much simpler where they can focus on performing while ACTUALLY hearing the music this time. 😂

The production on the Les Mis moviewas a disaster. They're lucky no one permanently destroyed their vocal chords. Not that the cast was a brilliant grouping of West End geniuses to being with, other than Samantha Barks.

I thought the live singing was a fantastic change. The singing feels real and authentic, unlike lip-synced movie musicals. What I disliked was that Jackman and Crowe tried too hard to "act" the songs instead of singing them, so their vocal support was shallow, and a lot of the lyrics had to be "talked" instead of sung, and others got chocked off because of too much emoting. They could have sung just like this during live takes, but they were too focused on chewing up the scenery with their "acting", especially Jackman.
For some reason Russell Crowe sounds much better in this than the movie for some odd reason And I love Hugh Jackman‘s voice to

Love watching the folks behind them, Kevin Durand who played Little John in Crowe's 'Robin Hood' was there. He's so tall, his nickname was 'Tree' in Mystery Alaska, also with Crowe; as they are great friends.
If you noticed, Alan Doyle and Scott Grimes were there as well.
