Slippery stairs can be a hazard- be careful! Be sure to add a hand rail. I’ve found carpet to be more safe then wooden stairs even as on wood stairs you still need an anti slip strip
It depends on following regulation size of each of the stair steps, the height of the risers, the wood, and the finish. Wax on stairs is dangerous. Not all stairs are slippery.
Carpet on stairs can be a breeding ground for all sorts of bugs, we had carpet on our stairs and I was forever vacuuming the stairs and when we pulled up the carpet, I was so embarrassed and disgusted 🤮 by what was still in the carpet even though I kept a clean home all the time, the guys that pulled up our carpet said this was nothing compared to what they see in some carpets, hence why we have a one story home now and no carpet, just floor rugs which get regular professionally cleaned and can easily be replaced..😊
Came to the comments to see if anyone already said what I was thinking. It looks 1000 times better and especially with that closet gone to the left but after several falls, you’ll need to pick a different style. Not trying to be negative bc we remodeled our first house and I know the pride, time, money that goes into doing work like that.
I really wanted to like this. I’m proud of y’all for trying. Those gaps underneath the LVP will guarantee that you’ll be dealing with dust and dirt gathering until the air flow dries out the liquid nail and everything pops apart
We stripped all the carpet off our stairs a year ago. Stained the steps and it was beautiful. But after at least 1/2 dozen people slipped down our stairs I’ve purchased some no slip pads on Amazon…now we’re good
@@CameronSadiei think he's talking about the future buyers of this house. Remember its not about how you like the house it's all about the resale value and who's the buyer.
@@Wowsers101 just as how they ate changing things they don't like, the new owners can change things as well. Why ate they paying a mortgage and living in something they don't like just for a "future buyer"?
Those stairs are so hazardous. The outside edge of each one is going to cause someone to catch a toe and fall down the stairs. These would never pass any building code inspection.
I wish more TT gave the names of materials and tools. I am going to quit liking when folks don't name materials and tools used Otherwise, it doesnt do us any good THANKS❤
Good job. My only suggestion is I would never use liquid nail to glue transition. 100% silicone adheres 100x’s better. I’ve had liquid nails fail on transitions multiple times.
When we bought our house in ‘91 it had carpeted stairs and a metal railing. He took all that out including the construction wood stringers and stair treads and risers and put in oak. He even put in an oak banister an upper railing with a shoe rail. (Which you’re not supposed to do with wooden ballistics. They are supposed to go down to the step or the floor.)
Sometimes, it's better to wait and get solid treads. Going cheap on wear items many times means redoing again. I've learned this the over time. It would've been better to paint and put a runner down them for a time until you get the budget. Stairs go through a lot of abuse and the bullnose _will_ be a minor trip hazard and just because they make it doesn't mean it's the right material to use. You need to at least tack nail those down, glue isn't enough long term. Temp changes, moisture, impact, stress friction...you'll be needing a handrail as well, there are lovely economical ones out there. Beware standing water and it should last for a while at least.
What is the wood sheets you used called? Also, everyone eho says these stairs are a hazard: ive grown up in a country where literally no stairs are carpeted or even has runners, and it's totally safe
I have hardwood stairs & they CAN be slippery. That’s why even really old hms have treads on them. You look like you used composite or plastic flooring. To me that looks like a death waiting to happen. They do look nice but be careful!
This is sooooo much CLEANER than nasty carpet. And I am sure (I read the other comments) that you chose something that is slip proof. It looks like the rubbery material resembling wood but has grip, like the stuff that is on the floors of my mom's assisted living. I am inspired. Great job! 👏👏👌👌💙🌎
@terencemerritt First off, the listing realitor will tell the sellers about things that must be changed to get the best price such as bold paint colors must be neutralized with muted tones and low quality or crafty aspects must be fixed or replaced. If the sellers don't change these things, then the sellers will likely have to discount the asking price by about at least 2 times the estimated cost to fix or replace the problem item. Either way, a seller loses when unskilled or crafty projects are done to a house. The bottom line is don't use low quality products or use unskilled workers to do things because it will end up costing you at least twice the cost later.
So with this stair project. The wrong material was used that will make the surface slippery. Using the bull nose molding in this application is also a trip hazard. This material is not intended for this use. It will likely cost $500. to remove it and $1200. to install the correct material, depending on the market it is in. A home inspector will likely point this out to a buyer as poor workmanship and a safety hazard. The buyer will want to deduct $3,000 from the purchase price to fix it so they can have it done professionally.
@@terencemerritt ANY real wood would look better. How do you know it was pine? The treads were painted and looked like milled treads. The cheap crap they put down looks ridiculous.

The bullnose is a trip hazard. The tread should be completely level.
It’s how they were meant to go
Yes, it is. And room separating pieces are also trip hazards but are installed in millions of houses every year.

I would add a pretty runner
Add some battery operated sensor lights to every 2 to 3 stair for safety...The LVP can easily look like one floor when going downstairs. Great job!

Be careful these are slippery with socks super unsafe 😬

A sharpened flat shovel is the best tool to remove staples from the floor.
We’re going to have to get our hands on one when we remove the rest of the carpet!

Be ready to remove it all if you sell the house. No one will want that crap.
I don’t design my house based on what other people will like
Usually if they sell and the buyer doesn’t like it, the buyer changes it. Just a random thought
