  • You can cycle from Earlsfield in south west London to Morden entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.
    The route is 5.5km long (3.4 miles) and makes use of the Wandle Trail, some quiet streets, as well as two newly surfaced sections of cycle path.
    The journey takes 20 minutes to ride, which is quicker than the public transport options available.

    I discovered the Wandle path by accident after cycling from Kings Cross to get to Wimbledon common. It's a ride I like to make frequently and by now I've discovered many alternative routes, but I still love to cycle by the Wandle; especially in the summertime.

      It’s lovely with the sun through the trees isn’t it

      @@Londoncycleroutes It is. And the smells of nature with the river and all the bushes in blossom. London has so many little oases that you only really find on your bike.

    Great video
    CS7 starts directly outside Colliers Wood station. If you’re in need of a meeting point, Merton Abbey Mills is located along the Wandle river.

    Many Thanks. I used to live in Morden, and jog through the park and up the Wandle way path to Merton Abbey Mills and back.

    @5:09 I like the way you (consciously or unconsciously?) mimic the way the train announcer would say the names of the stations

    Great video! So cool to see these connections being covered on London Cycle Routes as they are super useful for all sorts of journeys in the area. Also great to see a new bridge has been installed at 9:30 ... the old crossing was quite a pinch point before 🚲

      Yes great point about the bridge! Thank you for pointing it out

    The car park (8:46 - 8:50) is for Dean City Farm, which is a popular family destination.

      My partner (who used to live around there) was just telling me - she went as a kid and was scared of the chickens haha

    As I’m sure you know, from your start point, the route can extend northwards all the way to the Thames via King George’s Park with a few tricky bits negotiating busy roads. From the end point, again as I’m sure you know, the Trail continues south as far as Beddington etc. It’s very pleasant to do the whole run when the sun is out. Lots of wildlife to be seen etc.

      Thank you- yes I wish they would sort the bits in the busy roads! It’s a lovely corridor

    I think the Wandle goes all the way from Lewisham to Croydon. Lots of route potential there!

      @Londoncycleroutes  Před rokem +2

      You might be thinking of the waterlink way - follows the pool river! Unfortunately not all the paths are quite surfaced on that one though I think there are some plans to fix

    nice route, if you bypass morden and continue through morden park, and keep the wandle to your left you finish almost at croydon.

      You mean Morden Hall Park?
      Morden Park is about a mile south west of there.

    The tram is a bargain if you travel from Wimbledon all the way to New Addington.
    A change of tram is required, however, it falls within TFL's "Hopper Fare" system.

    Your videos are amazing! Thank you so much for all the work you put into them. 🙂I live in New Cross and work in Motspur Park so have cycled the CS7 a few times; I'm trying to piece together some of these lovely routes you've worked out to have a nicer journey. Looking forward to your review video of that cycle route if you decide to make it.

      Thanks so much and wow that’s a long commute! I wish they’d do more improvements to CS7. Definitely want to do a video reviewing it asap!

    Another nice route.
    Why don't you create a respective playlist for northern and southern routes. It will make it easier for people to search routes and also result in more views.

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před rokem +2

      Not a bad idea! Although people should look at the map of routes it’s good!

    As they build up the Barking Riverside area, I would love to see more of it on your channel, still early days but the plans and what they've built so far looks good.

    Do you have any reccommendations to cycle from Kensington Olympia to Marylebone? Google tries to take me down either Holland Park Avenue or Kensington High Street, both of which are a nightmare!

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před rokem +1

      Unfortunately it’s a really tricky one and yeah I would basically go down Kensington high street - it badly needs a cycle lane asap as there aren’t good alternative routes, but the council is being obstructive.
