- Growing citrus trees from seed is very easy. The germination process is fast and it is fun seeing your little citrus tree grow.
You can use any kind of citrus seeds you have: orange, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit etc. In this video I have grapefruit and lemon seeds and I also show you how the germinated tangerine seeds look like.

I meditate for 5 minutes for everyone who donates in order to live in health, abundance and Love. 🙏 ♡
In the video I show you the whole process of germinating citrus seeds. I use the wet paper towel + plastic container method.
Before germinating the seeds I remove the outer shell from around the seeds. This helps the seeds to germinate faster.
After the seeds have germinated I plant them into normal potting soil that I mix with some perlite. I water them when the soil starts to get dry out.
☆ How to germinate citrus seeds - The process ☆
1. Collect the seeds and wash them well.
2. Put the seeds into luke warm water for a day.
3. Peel off the outer shell (use a cloth or paper towel to remove the remaining fruit flesh from the seed if it is too slippery).
4. Put seeds into clear plastic container, onto wet paper towel and close the container.
5. Keep the seeds warm: put the container into a warm room or on a warm surface.
6. Wait for the seeds to germinate. Once the roots appear plant them into soil.

I grew two lemon trees from seed. They were 7 ft tall in 4 years . They had rich green leaves. No blooms yet. But I had to sell them. I got $100 for each one. I miss them !!!
Haha, you might’ve sold them lemon trees that will never produce fruit. Only time will tell, but fruit trees are notorious for creating rootstocks that don’t bear fruit, or bear very different fruit than the parent. Props on the entrepreneurship though!
Only 7 ft did you give them any nitrogen
@@awieloubser6016 they were in pots. They were limited
They were going to bloom !!!!!
im sorry u lost ur trees
This is exactly the introduction to germinating and growing citrus trees that I was looking for. Thank you so much.
I did this and now my plant is 12" . So beautiful, but I will put inside next week , because it can die in cold weather
I tried to germinate 6 lemon seeds. The only seed that has become a really nice tree was the tiny, chipped seed. You were very right that it can still grow :)
Indeed, I planted all the seeds - It did not matter for me. And all are growing the same.
@Richard Jimenez she said it helps speed up the process (referring to the other comment). No it's not necessary, but it's definitely quicker putting seeds in water for 24hrs first.
@Richard Jimenez Did you soak and peel the outer shell from your seeds? I ordered some Meyer Lemon tree seeds from Amazon snd I want to give them every chance to grow successfully. Thank you.
@Richard Jimenez and her pointbwas it speeds up the process. You can't talk about "let it grow naturally " when you yourself are using potting soil. Lol
Tried this without removing outer shell and it worked fine. Thanks
thank you for sharing my wife home school my daughter's and they have a garden class and they watch y'all videos for study this is great thank you so much my kids learned so much thanks to my wife and your videos
+Stak Amillion I feel honored that your family is watching my videos to learn. I hope they will have many successes and that they also get lots of joy from gardening. I wish you all the best and happiness for your daughters and to your wife as well.
Make a video of how to grow a coriander seeds
aww, those seedlings are so cute, I can almost hear them calling you mommy haha...
Aww, that is cute. 😊
I want to thank you! Because of this video I started two grapefruit two orange trees unfortunately one orange tree passed and the grapefruits passed but I have got a very beautiful orange tree that is now coming up, so thank you again for your wonderful advice it works wonderful
Thank you this was an amazing tutorial in the first 2 days I had 3 out of the 10 tangerine seeds germinate
After germinating my own guavas in March my oldest daughter saved some mandarin seeds to try grow her own. It was pure guess work with the guavas so I thought I should probably look up how to do it properly after watching my mother in law try the paper towel method and fail. I wouldn’t have thought to let them dry first and then soak! My daughter is very excited to watch her seeds germinate and grow. Thanks for this informative video!
Beautiful explanation! Last year I was focused on avocados and now I have about 10 little plants. I love them. So this year I'm focusing on citrus trees. Thank you for the video:)
Thank you for the tutorial! I didn’t know the step where you should remove the outer shell. 🍊🌱🌱🌱
You shouldn't. It will take longer to germinate. It's a completely unnecessary step and a waste of time.
i just have to tell you! my orange seeds are germinating! wish you could see me do my happy dance! will definitely be doing the lemon seed! thank you sooo much!!!!!👍
Yaay!! Great! I am so happy for you!! :) Keep me please updated (if you would like to) how they are doing.
Little Home Gardener absolutely i will let you know! :-)
Little Home Gardener how do you know if it germinating
@@miriamrodriguez7977 You will see a small tail coming out of them

How did it go for you?
I just did that with my lemon seeds today. Im so looking foward to their germination😍
Hi
Great video, I've got six orange trees growing now after seeing this vid.
To remove the outer skin I just nipped off the pointed end of the seed with nail clippers and then they were easy to peel.
Thank you! After watching many videos - You stated that it's the ROOT that first emerges! Now I know to plant Root down.
Great video! The leaves on your plants there look so healthy, clearly the compost mix, care and environment suit them. Well done!
This video may have taken a bit of time to get through, but you have given me all that I need to try and germinate my own clementine tree. I look forward to using these techniques to grow my own tree. Thank you.
+Shawnaayy Rix Hi! Thank you for watching the video! Good luck and have fun germinating the seeds.
This was really nice . I already have two orange plants , which i germinated my self , and they are looking so pretty . Now , gonna try the same with lemon. Thanks for the tip about put the seeds first in warm water . I didt know that. Success with everything.
You should be a hand model!
Thank you for the video. I have some seeds from Seville Oranges and now know who to germinate them!
Your hands are so beautiful and well manicured. I'm jealous. (The video was great, too.)
Oh, thank you! :)

Thank you so much! Ive always wanted to grow tangerines, but never knew how to! Your channel helped a lot!
THIS WAS A COOL CLIP. I LEARNED SO MUCH. THANK YOU.
Thank you for your time and attention to detail. Video was awesome!
Very nice I love seeds. What a beautiful blessing and gift God has given us. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you very much !! Wonderful explanation, step by step and easily understandable
Another process that worked well for me is to do the same process but instead place in moist soil. Wrap the top with Saran Wrap and place in sunny area. Like paper towel this creates a greenhouse effect. Cheers
I have watched several videos on this topic, and yours is by far the most helpful. Thank you!!
Thank you for the video. It is well done. I am excited to grow kumquats from seeds I kept from fruit I ate in China!
Thank you, thank you! I didn’t know to remove the outer shell, now to try again. I’m hoping to have some trees next year!
Thank you random lady on yt. I love clementine in the winter and now I will grow my own!

Thank you for the write up in the description box. Very elaborate.
I am germinating my first Clementine seed today, I followed the exact same steps.
Thank you for your help.
The first attempt wasn't successful. I tried again but this time with cotton instead of napkins, all of the seeds have grown up.

Very informative and beautiful looking trees! Thank you for sharing this. I just started / continuing a pine tree seed with this method. I believe it's either a spruce, Scots or a Douglas Fir but not certain as I found the seed on the ground just starting....the size of your germinated seeds in this video. I should do a video about it. I'm going to try and start some citrus with this method...again thanks for taking the time to share.
Excellent video. Many thanks to you for your help.👍

Thank you so much. I tried planting some bitter orange straight in the soil without peeling the shells and they didn't grow at all. Now thanks to you, I know what to do.

Thank you for watching it!
For everyone wondering if this actually works, it does! I definitely do not have a green thumb but my seeds germinated after just a few days. I’m going to wait for the roots to grow a bit longer and will then put them in soil.
Thanks for trying to make yourself understandable, I know English is not your first/native lingo, I understood you every step of the way...keep it up! I enjoyed the vid and will follow your instructions carefully.
Good luck germinating the seeds!
Thanks for your efforts.
this was rlly helpful !! thank you :]
Great video!!!
You answered so many questions for me that I’ve been having issues with that I didn’t even know how to ask! My Kefir Lime tree is now going to be well on its way! 🥳🤩😆
I am glad I was able to answer your questions in the video. 😊
Love to watch a video
Focusing on your clementines
For are so rare to cultivate
Fascinating🙂thank you very much.
Im just waiting for them to sprout ... good tutorial thank you
bob just gave you a shout out so i came to this video. thank you!
i cant tell you how happy i am that you are sharing this.
i have tried everything i could including peeling the pointy end a little ways down like a banana peel and even that didn't work.
i saved seeds anyway so now thanks to you i know i have hope and as a new subscriber i am HAPPY! :-)
Hi and welcome! Thank you for subscribing and watching the video! What seeds are you germinating now? Did you succeed in removing the outer shell of the seeds? They are tricky to remove and if you let the seeds soak for a few hours it will be easier to remove them.
Little Home Gardener i am going to sprout some lemon seeds for sure now.!!
i seen that bob's pineapple seeds have sprouted so now i can try mine!
i am watching your videos so hopefully i can sprout an avacado seed. i have had these in water, in soil, in a baggie of water. i have tried them in the light and in the dark but watching you i feel i have hope!
the ones in water i have tried suspending it in the water, i have tried sitting in a glass of water filled halfway up the seed. i have left the papery stuff on, i have removed it.and still no luck.
the closest i ever come is the bottom will start splitting but that's as far as i got. no root ever showed up. i tried not changing the water for a week as well as changing it more often.
then there is people like you that could just look at a seed and make it grow! :-)
i tried sprouting a mango seed once. i planted it in dirt and waited 4 months. nothing. but i did not know that the hard covering was covering a seed!
SO happy to watch you!! :-)
Good luck with the lemon seeds! I put the avocados into luke warm water. I change the water every day or when I remember, but don't let them dry out. And!! As soon as you get the seed out of the avocado put it into water. If you let it be on the air too long without water it will germinate slower - this is what I found. So immediatelly put it into water. You can clean it later if you don't have time, just let it be in the water. Once the bottom splits just continue to keep it in the water. It needs some time. I have now 4 germinating, and one grows quickly, it already has a nice root, while the other one even though it split already, there are still no roots. It can take weeks for it to grow a root, just wait for it! :)
Mangos are not so easy to germinate, once they get too much water, the other time it is not enough, they become rotten easily.
My Mom once said that I am growing the plants just by looking at them - which might be true. I like staring at them telling them how beautiful they are and then they grow. :D (But once I don't do that...)
Little Home Gardener thank you for letting me know about putting the avacado seed in water straight away and clean it later. and the warm water is definitely something i am going to try!
maybe i won't have to beg it to grow now! lol.
Your dexterity is amazing
Thankyou so much! This was just what I was looking for. Just subbed too ❤️
Thanks! My seed germinated and looks soooooo cute
Yeah, they look cute. 😁 Thanks for watching!
I've had no success with growing from seed, now I know why! Thanks for this.
I hope you will be successful growing them from seeds next time. Have a great day!
