Insta360 has always struggled with audio. The original insta360 one r had horrible audio even after numerous firmware updates. That's why I went with DJI action 1 back then. I am not surprised to see insta 360 is still struggling with audio.
From Insta360 ---- There is a bug in the pre-release firmware that affects the wind-noise reduction mode (which is currently set as default) and in some situations the audio will be really quiet like what Ben experienced in his video. However the stereo mode works fine. There will be a new firmware update this week to fix this issue.
Not convinced with insta 360’s video quality again. Still has that compressed pixel look and jittery. GoPros are still more clearer and smoother. The audio on the one RS sounds like a zoom call.
The audio should be fixed in a firmware update later this week! There was a bug found in the "wind noise" reduction mode which is the default setting for ONE RS. The audio is actually pretty good quality with the additional mic that was added in.

The new DJI and this new Insta360 makes no sense, to many steps back and to many issues still not addressed that are so important, like the not replacable lens, so stupid. Action Camera's market is in a really bad state, none of the companies release a product that satisfy what we been asking since years. Is not that hard having the bunge of feedback they have c'mon. Stop innovating with stuff that nobody ask for and release something practical, with a decente image quality, realiable and durable. Is it really that hard?
I love my gopro Max and I love my insta360 one RS with 4K boost lens also. Insta gives much room for creativity and is very versatile. It has active HDR video and footage looks awesome with it.
I think a lot of people (including myself) are really wanting an alternative to GoPro due to their lack of reliability and software issues. Unfortunately we're still waiting for a product to come along and be a viable alternative. DJI should have just updated their Osmo Action (and kept the same physical size) and that would have probably been a great alternative. As for the Insta cameras, their 360 x2 is nice, but the One RS just doesn't seem to be anything too exciting. The newly introduced, so called action cameras are getting as big as the miniature camcorders from the 90's. These companies are losing site of what an action camera was meant to be. Great video quality and reliability packed into something the size of a GoPro 4 would be welcomed. BTW, Nice video and comparison/review.
ive heard the gopro 10 is reliable. the action 1 is still available on the market. the rs definetely not exciting its repackaged one r. gopro is really the only company that pushed the specs so far. im looking forward to other type of cameras they come up with.

Counter to your statement regarding the mounting prongs. I prefer Insta360's approach having the cage be the mounting bracket. Means I can pop out the camera and change the battery without having to get that angle back on my helmet mount perfect every time. Having the bigger battery have that built it is perfect for people like you who prefer it built into the camera. I think Insta360s approach like this, giving us both options is the best way to do it.
Sure Go Pro should step up and innovate a little but after 5 years of owning a Go Pro, first a hero 3, then a 7 and now a 10, I can’t complain. The 8 and the 9 were major ufffs but the 10 is a big win. No more freezes, no laggy screen, great stabilization, high frame rates. Now, my favorite insta360 is still the go 2. Man that camera is a blast! But I mainly use the action cams for scuba diving and still, the best option is the Go Pro.
Really? I just returned my go 2 cause I couldn’t stand the image quality. Too grainy and noisy. I love the concept and easy to use. But the result was kinda disappointed.
You a paid shill or what man? Im returning my hero 10 tomorrow bc it only records for 5min intervals at 4k 60fps... Sometimes it will record a solid 15mins... but then overheats and splits video files randomly. This is unacceptable. I have a sandisk extreme plus.. v30... Oh, and the battery is garbo.

@@abundantharmony I have a gopro 3 black and videos were split to avoid losing the whole video file when something goes wrong. mine splits every 11 mins. as per the battery life, try other battery or plug a powerbank and you're good to go. cheers!
A huge difference you need to know is Insta360 One X2 and RS are using cold-weather performance batteries, which are able to work under as low as -20°C or 4°F. The latest battery of GoPro HERO10 comes with -10°C or 14°F. This is critical if you use action cameras for winter sports.
Its gotta be really cold before a accu gets below -10°... My friend and I used his GoPro H9 with the normal and enduro(winter) battery while skiing, no problem at all. And these are just numbers just like accu life or water resistance. The normal accus which I think are rated at around 0° easily overstood -10°, I wouldnt mind about that unless you live somewhere where its -40° regularly lol
Hey man appreciate the video! The stills of RS clearly look more vibrant than the Hero 10! In terms of the audio though, I'm still pretty on the fence with its quality, just checked out Potato Jet's review and it actually sounded quite nice in his video lol...
Every user has their own way of looking at things. I just watched the footage shared by 9to5toys, looks very legit and impressive. The best way to find out is to get one and test by yourself.
Great vid! I was trying to talk myself into an insta360, I’ve always had GoPro’s. Gotta say, the audio sucks on the insta, and the video on the GoPro looked way better imo. The photos on the insta I think looked better but I don’t think I’ve ever taken a single photo on my GoPro’s. Still, the “360” is still a cool feature. I’m still trying to talk myself into it but was hoping it’d be an easier sell :/

I am UPSET with This sh##t camera (INSTA360 OneR). 3rd time It stopped working. I sent It 2 times to Solectric. It worked 1 hour and then It stopped again!!! I have 2 Gopros and never had any issues. The Camera, again, cannot record or take photos anymore and ti switch It Off I have to hold the Power Button during 20 seconds!!! I am very angry with Insta!!! There is no HARD RESET Button with is crazy for a camera that is 100% dependant on a software. Am I the only one? :( 😌😌
Great video comparison. I was ready to pull the trigger on the One RS and after seeing this, I absolutely won't. I'm sorry, but the colors on the One RS looks horrible and not even remotely accurate to real life. The GoPro is the winner in daylight footage where I'll be using it.
if you only have the budget for 1 item, get the RS, If you already have old Gopro 7/8/9. get the one X2 for better stitching line while recording on 360. However RS has better low light now compared to Gopro Hero 10.
Still can’t believe you do this now Ben for a living….. still love this!! I’d bought the GP10, actually I’d bought 3 for additional “specials” on stage with bands, and back into my ATEM 2 M/E. Even without recording those, they nearly all would frequently overheat, or get file errors. So…. just for the craic I started putting little mic stand mounted cooling fans just beneath them - no more crashes - very poor cooling internally I suspect. Anyway…. onwards, so for climbing and bouldering videos I’ve just ordered two of the 360 One RS twin kits. Very interesting points you’ve raised about the sharpness, about the lack of 30fps etc. All very valid, but in the UK we run most of our stuff at 25fps anyway, as we’re on 50hz and not 60hz like in the states. I wanted and hoped that the 11 would resolve the 10’s issues but having borrowed some for the trip I did to Baltimore last week…. overheating issues again. So, for now I’ll be adding some insta to the mix, let’s see how that goes! Hope you’re well Ben!!
Sadly, lots of bias and resell links make people omit problems. 1. Artifacts are a massive issue. 2. Over sharpening 3. Color science is off, most creators aren’t telling people they are adjusting in post. 4. Audio is 💩 5. 4 year old 360 tech with garbage grainy video that for some reason they refuse to adjust. Their response to me was because computers and phones can’t handle it. I think they forgot qoocam has an 8k option, people aren’t complaining about 8k over there. They also don’t tell people 5.7k os just 1080p when reframed. Nor do they share how bad the camera is in lowlight. I’d love to see videos of just low light performance. Not compared to any other camera, just by it self. They claim this camera is so innovative let’s see how innovative it is. No noise reduction outside in the dark guarantee it’s grainy and looks bad. 6. The 6k looks to have latency /lag when swinging back and fourth. Abs the grass looks over softened. Which is weird because they always over sharpen. 7. Slow motion… enough said 8. Action cam lens non replaceable? Poop
Just bought the OneRS because I want a 360 option plus the added bonus of the other lenses, but after watching this video I’m a bit disappointed. I might be returning it and getting the Hero 10. Dang I really wanted some 360 footage.
Im no gopro fan, but the segment between 02:40 and 03:05 made me seriously doubt your credibility, particularly for a channel that brands itself as giving authentic tech reviews
Hey Ben, are you able to share the taking footage out of the camera and into the PC for editing? I read somewhere that this RS version allows direct transfer without going through the Insta360 app which means lesser step. This is the primary reason I never consider Insta360 cameras because of this extra step in the past. Thanks mate!
nice comparison, but from ur shots the GoPro was looking better. Definitely make a comparison video between the new RS and the Old R with the DJI Action 2. the main seeling point of this camera is the twin edition with the 360 mod
Our eyes are different. I was thinking the OneRS looked super soft at the beginning when you said it was sharper/oversharpened at 0:55. Though I am happy it looks soft because the footage from my OneR was super gross on things like grass and I'd welcome some blur there. Also at 3:10 you say the GoPro has more clarity/sharpness but you show that the gopro clock is completely blurred and the OneR you can actually read the clock. It seems like in this case too you said that in error. Your animation also focuses on the clock text. I love these side by sides though because they help me figure otu what camera matches the "flavor" I like. GoPro seems to have the infinite focus oversharpness I didn't like in my OneR, the reason I still use my phone for video instead of it. I am excited to get the OneRS because the extra brain will give me the ability to shoot 4k and 360 without swapping lenses, and the footage shoudl be good enough to replace my phone. I might still need to mic up though :( I would like to see an OneR vs OneRS.
The sharpening on the RS looks too strong, see 1:09 and 5:16 the ground; might need to be tuned down a bit. Looking into getting an RS for night shooting along with my Hero 10.
Great video Ben! Sad to see the audio issues continue on the ONE RS. Hopefully they get it worked out with firmware. Even with the firmware updates on the original ONE R, I still prefer the audio on the GoPro.
Funny how come this camera getting high review for having useless audio recording.. In this video I'm pretty sure they increased the DB to 10000% just to get an audio. Not a single CZcams reviewer ever talked about this Major Flaw. I'm beginning to think these reviewers are bribed. Seriously..
@@valcrist7428bc thats not a real issue.. i know your comment is old but still, it was some kind of bug in the "wind reduction mode" at the very early release and since that was set to default most people "had" this bug at the start. But they could always just switch to stereo audio mode and the sound was and is incredibly awesome..
As much as I despise the GoPro brand and the 10 Black, I would like to find another brand to use but... It seems the GoPro 10 Black is the best so far.

@@bagivox. haven't had any overheating problems in winter. Summer time if u keep it to shorter clips, or lower frame rights it does ok. Battery life isn't good for all day use, recommend buying additional batteries or a portable battery bank to charge during downtimes. Other then that it's been a great super durable camera with amazing looking footage.
so insta360 one rs twin will get you the 360 effect? the gopro 10 will not give you a 360 effect?

It's such a shame that the audio is still completely unusable on the Instas. I would love something other than GoPros but I can not do anything with a camera which sounds like crushed and/or muffled robo voice.

have a motorcycle trip coming up where we will ride into Yosemite national park. The ride video should be epic! Leaning towards the insta360 oneRS. As for the audio I would throw some music over the video in "post production." What cam would you recommend for my trip? I'm an action cam beginner also....
I got my Insta One 360 RS on Monday. I will be returning it for repair on Tuesday. Everyone else seems to be happy and has a working camera. I received a unit that seems to have a faulty Wi-fi chip. Tech support and I tried every possible remedy without success. I assume they will send me a working unit someday, but I learned that if you cannot make the initial setup via Wi-fi, you have a worthless piece of junk that can do nothing. If it has a bad Wi-fi chip, that does not speak much for quality control. Am I the only person in the world who got a defective unit? Customer service has been helpful, but I will be without a camera for several days or weeks.

I’m still learning but I thought the the GoPro video looked better but maybe I’m not understanding your explanation why you thought the Insta360 looked better in some of your comparisons. Great video. So the constant power, Would I be able to hook up a USB power sorce to power it to record a Motorcycle trip? I know with the Hero 9 I can remove the batter and plug in a USB power sorce and can record all day until the SD card fills up.
Hope this question is not too stupid. I am upgrading from a hero 5. I was thinking of getting a Hero 8, value for money for what i do with it, its just the best. However i can get the insta 360 one RS for just about 15 euros more. Is the insta360 ONE RS a big upgrade from a Hero 8?

Just got today a gooro 10 black. Number one : batteries charge only 90% Nunber two : goes extremely HOT Number three: why i have ho pay 50$ a year to gopro?? Don’t you squeeze the lemon enough already? Tomorrow I’ll return this gopro first thing in the morning. Btw, ain’t my first one and i was aspecting way more .

I'd rather suggest that the huge difference is that you cannot replace the lens on the 360 where you once could. You can on the GoPro...
Avoid the GoPro 10 as it overheats very quickly and especially filming at 4k

I’d love to see videos of just low light performance. Not compared to any other camera, just by it self. They claim this camera is so innovative let’s see how innovative it is. No noise reduction outside in the dark guarantee it’s grainy and looks bad.
6. The 6k looks to have latency /lag when swinging back and fourth. Abs the grass looks over softened. Which is weird because they always over sharpen.

Just bought the OneRS because I want a 360 option plus the added bonus of the other lenses, but after watching this video I’m a bit disappointed. I might be returning it and getting the Hero 10. Dang I really wanted some 360 footage.
I hear the GP Hero 10 overheats a lot, especially in 4K. Something to consider.

Hey Ben, are you able to share the taking footage out of the camera and into the PC for editing? I read somewhere that this RS version allows direct transfer without going through the Insta360 app which means lesser step. This is the primary reason I never consider Insta360 cameras because of this extra step in the past. Thanks mate!
If it is a non-360 footage, yes it can be export directly from the camera with built-in stabilization.

All those work around tricks needed for the OneRS makes it cumbersome to use. I just want the video to look and sound its best right from the start.
nice comparison, but from ur shots the GoPro was looking better. Definitely make a comparison video between the new RS and the Old R with the DJI Action 2. the main seeling point of this camera is the twin edition with the 360 mod

Not if you want audio that can be understood right out of camera. Terrible audio on One RS.
Also compare price difference which is almost double than insta 360
Our eyes are different. I was thinking the OneRS looked super soft at the beginning when you said it was sharper/oversharpened at 0:55. Though I am happy it looks soft because the footage from my OneR was super gross on things like grass and I'd welcome some blur there.
Also at 3:10 you say the GoPro has more clarity/sharpness but you show that the gopro clock is completely blurred and the OneR you can actually read the clock. It seems like in this case too you said that in error. Your animation also focuses on the clock text.
I love these side by sides though because they help me figure otu what camera matches the "flavor" I like. GoPro seems to have the infinite focus oversharpness I didn't like in my OneR, the reason I still use my phone for video instead of it. I am excited to get the OneRS because the extra brain will give me the ability to shoot 4k and 360 without swapping lenses, and the footage shoudl be good enough to replace my phone. I might still need to mic up though :(

Great video Ben! Sad to see the audio issues continue on the ONE RS. Hopefully they get it worked out with firmware. Even with the firmware updates on the original ONE R, I still prefer the audio on the GoPro.
Funny how come this camera getting high review for having useless audio recording.. In this video I'm pretty sure they increased the DB to 10000% just to get an audio. Not a single CZcams reviewer ever talked about this Major Flaw.

@@valcrist7428bc thats not a real issue.. i know your comment is old but still, it was some kind of bug in the "wind reduction mode" at the very early release and since that was set to default most people "had" this bug at the start. But they could always just switch to stereo audio mode and the sound was and is incredibly awesome..
As much as I despise the GoPro brand and the 10 Black, I would like to find another brand to use but... It seems the GoPro 10 Black is the best so far.

@@bagivox. haven't had any overheating problems in winter. Summer time if u keep it to shorter clips, or lower frame rights it does ok. Battery life isn't good for all day use, recommend buying additional batteries or a portable battery bank to charge during downtimes.
Other then that it's been a great super durable camera with amazing looking footage.
OneRS has built in flow state stabilization if I recall currently and you don't need the app to apply stabilization

Any news on if the sound was ever fixed on the Insta 360? It sounded AWFUL in this review and a couple of others I've seen.
Maybe I missed it, but did you discuss the 1-inch mod/lens? That's one of the biggest reasons I like the Insta360 is their great low-light shots.

It's such a shame that the audio is still completely unusable on the Instas. I would love something other than GoPros but I can not do anything with a camera which sounds like crushed and/or muffled robo voice.
The muffled audio was due to a bug that was found in the pre-release firmware. It will be fixed with a firmware update this week!

As for the audio I would throw some music over the video in "post production." What cam would you recommend for my trip? I'm an action cam beginner also....

I got my Insta One 360 RS on Monday. I will be returning it for repair on Tuesday. Everyone else seems to be happy and has a working camera. I received a unit that seems to have a faulty Wi-fi chip. Tech support and I tried every possible remedy without success. I assume they will send me a working unit someday, but I learned that if you cannot make the initial setup via Wi-fi, you have a worthless piece of junk that can do nothing. If it has a bad Wi-fi chip, that does not speak much for quality control. Am I the only person in the world who got a defective unit? Customer service has been helpful, but I will be without a camera for several days or weeks.
GoPro has clearly won the chapter.. hands down..!!

Great video. So the constant power, Would I be able to hook up a USB power sorce to power it to record a Motorcycle trip? I know with the Hero 9 I can remove the batter and plug in a USB power sorce and can record all day until the SD card fills up.

Hope this question is not too stupid. I am upgrading from a hero 5. I was thinking of getting a Hero 8, value for money for what i do with it, its just the best. However i can get the insta 360 one RS for just about 15 euros more. Is the insta360 ONE RS a big upgrade from a Hero 8?

I really don't like the colours of the insta 360 it is to blownout, find the gopro footage more crisp and sharper then the insta.

I just purchased a GoPro 10 and I just head about this camera. I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase.
Just got today a gooro 10 black.
Number one : batteries charge only 90%
Nunber two : goes extremely HOT
Number three: why i have ho pay 50$ a year to gopro?? Don’t you squeeze the lemon enough already?
