I will never tire of watching this video, thank you so much for sharing
masterclass!
Can't thank you enough for sharing John! I tried reverse engineering how he makes his cups but did it a different way. I learned a lot while doing it but happy to see the final result. Thanks again.
I love that the beauty is in the imperfection. I've found a new rabbit hole.

He was using Highwater clays in Asheville, but nay be getting StarWorks Clay now?!
Nice Job
absolutely amazing to look over that. When he applies the slip is it really just sand? or what would be the material to look for if i want to try that myself?
He probably just takes his clay body slip and adds sand. You can just use your clay body and wet it up to a slip. Good place to start. I have a video on this channel showing how...but you don't need to thicken it too much. Just start slow and try to use you body.
@@johnbrittpottery thanks a lot for taking the time to reply! I assume its silica sand. Will try that :)
How many pounds of caly would you say that chawan was?
Guessing ...1.5 - 2 pounds..
He is working like when I having a bad day throwing haha, Its a joke ,I understand this art.
I'd love to know what the name of those metal things was to get the pot off the wheel!
Pot lifters
Does anyone know the recipe of the mud he is applying to bowl's? He mentioned grog, chunk feldspar and sand. I have no idea about the ratio...
I don't know. He probably uses his claybody slip and just adds a bit of fine grog or sand (try 10%) and just a bit of chunk feldspar to make glassy spots. You can get chunk feldspar from Pacer industries in South Dakota (also makes Custer Feldspar). The slip is basically to "taste" meaning whatever look you like.)
@@johnbrittpottery Thank you, John! I will try this.
