my public service notice about EyeSight, especially for people who think they are used to it - KEEP YOUR WINDSHIELD CLEAN. you likely have seen the winter fog/frost warning message "EyeSight is Off". The tricky thing is, one smashed insect in just the wrong place, in the summer, will make EyeSight blind and the car will NOT notice it nor warn you. The only symptom is lack of the "following a car" symbol, and lack of slowing down, on cruise control for traffic ahead. This has happened to me, once in 36,000 miles.

We have a 2015 3.6R Limited. About 33k it began to make a sound that was exactly what wheel bearings sound like when they are going out. I replaced the tires with Michelin Premier A/S tires and WOW, what a difference. Silence. Way quieter that it was even when brand new. Plus they ride better and are absolute MONSTERS in the wet. It is unflappable in even heavy rain or standing water. We don’t get much (or any) snow down here in San Antonio, so I can’t speak about that, but otherwise these tires are the single best upgrade we’ve made. In a few thousand miles I’ll be doing the same to our 2017 Forester XT Touring.

We average 4-5 feet of snow in the winter and we’ve never had a problem with it. We do have to go into X mode to get up our private road and into our garage.
We only have 10K miles on it and it’s now 3 years old.

Bought a 2012 Outback for my first car when I was in college. I know, a 20-year-old wanted a wagon? Well, I really liked it because I could fit all my friend's gear and we would head to the mountains to ski. It was very versatile and I was able to move myself from my parent's house to my dorm. I liked the AWD system since I am from New Jersey and we still get pretty bad snow storms. The system held up well during my trips to the Catskills for skiing and for my daily comute. Never felt like it would slip really. It's been pretty reliable, 110,000 miles, and other than oil changes, it's been great. I got the 2012 with the backup camera and navigation and those have been great too. My next car will probably be a newer Outback with brighter headlights

From the for what it’s worth file, I had a 2005 Outback with very high mileage. I commuted from Colorado to North Dakota on a 15 and 6 schedule. Just under 1000 miles each. A lot of 2 lane highway and a LOT of wildlife to avoid. After 2 near misses where I was able to avoid the elk but lost control of the car I made 2 upgrades. I added a larger rear sway bar and a tower strut bar under the hood. Now the Outback was never a performance car to begin with and with 200,000+ the original suspension was fairly worn out. An emergency maneuver would result in the rear coming around. I absolutely could not believe the change those upgrades made. The car cornered much much better. If they was to make one additional upgrade I would suggest that strut bar under the hood. Probably less than $250 and an easy install.

I have a 2019 3.6R with those same Bridgestones. Bought the car brand new back in November 2019. The tire noise (3:52) has been excessive from the get go. The CVT has done well in the mountains of Western PA. Highway mileage is about 30. City mileage is about 23. A couple of trim issues, which was disappointing. Interior trim around the sunroof opening came loose. Also, a piece of black plastic above the passenger side A pillar was loose.
I'm most concerned about waiting for the cracked windshield issue to appear. I've read about the windshield issue on Subaru forums and how Subaru has not been supportive to its customer base on the issue. If I have this same experience, I'll trade it in before having to replace the windshield several times plus the camera re-calibration costs

Me. I went from an ‘13 Mustang GT to a ‘17 Focus ST to a ‘17 CPO Fusion Sport over 5 years. I made money on both the Mustang and Focus ST by buying them at a huge discount as leftover models from the previous year and then selling them privately to enthusiasts before depreciation negated that discount. Those profits left me at a net positive from where I started even after switching to a fully loaded Fusion Sport, which I bought CPO at a huge discount since the dealership needed to make room on the lot for the new Rangers. I also raised my credit score 120 points in 3 years by paying off the first two loans early. Not all car buying decisions are bad, contrary to what the internet says.
I have to admit, I didn’t do all that to make money though. I switched to the Focus because I moved somewhere that gets snow. Then I switched to a big safe sedan because we decided to have a kid. I was just able to make it work out in my favor financially with careful planning.
I’m inclined to think a fella that wears his shorts that high didn’t let himself get upside down on his car loan either. He even bought the last year of a generation to get the most reliable version rather than buying the first year of a new generation so he knows what he’s doing.

First Subaru was in 2008, Had 5, so about 1 new Subaru every 2 years and a few months. This is not a Strong supportive case for long car life. They never had any problems with the CVT, well I hope not. My daughter still drives a Toyota Corolla I purchased new in 2008. We and She never had any trouble out of it . Subaru was a fine car company, then they went CVT, CVT means do not buy. The Subaru CVT costs about twice as much to replace than a regular automatic. Even if it lasts as long as a regular tranny (which I doubt) the cost of transaxle replacement is too high. Also according to Autoguide and Your Mechanic ( both have presence here on CZcams ) Place the Forester in the top 10 most expensive to maintain over a 10 year period. CVT failure and Head casket failure. As a Perspective Fiat has no cars in the top ten.

I'm not too sure what the purpose of this video was. I guess TFL wants to show what owning a stock Subaru Outback with a cheap license plate frame, horrible looking exhaust tips and an annoying owner is like. I don't see how this video adds to the channel in any way. TFL, if you read this comment, make some changes! Showing old folks and featuring stock, run-of-the-mill cars surely doesn't lower the age of your viewers or get more views, which is why I presume you added Tommy to the team.

The Outback 3.6R is a brilliant sleeper luxury car and it's surprisingly quick. Does a respectable 7 second 1/4 mile and will hit almost 140. Love the 3.6R 6-cylinder and it's a shame it's being replaced by a turbo 4-cylinder. They don't handle that well and braking is not great but otherwise it's one of the best cars on the market especially with the 6-cylinder.

I want to see how reliable the 2.4 turbo is before considering one. In a couple years we''ll see how it's holding up. The specs are there more power and torque plus better fuel economy and performance at altitude. A 260 hp, 277 lb-ft flat-4 in the Outback is going to be a fairly quick wagon not sports car territory but respectable performance.
