Back in 2002 I transferred schools: i did this because no one taught me to how to pronounce duncanyounot. It was truly one of my most embarrassing moments in life and I knew I had to leave the school to start anew. I thought this would be the best decision for me, and to some degree I still believe that it was a good decision, but I did not know what would happen at this environment I was not adapted to. I was walking through the halls with my binders and a pencil case to head to my next class. I was going from Drama to English class when I accidentally bumped into Eric Rogers in the hall. It was a pretty crowded hall, for some reason the hall was smaller than my previous school despite it being more populous and in the same school system, but I digress. Papers spilled out from my binders, pencils flying everywhere. He was a big guy, and he looked me dead in the eye then said "Watch where you're going, twerp." Everyone stopped and looked at me including his hot cheerleader girlfriend.
It made me so flustered that my cheeks turned amber red in an instant as if I was a traffic light. One guy obscured by the crowd of people blurted out "Prepare to stop guys! Traffic light is turning red!" because of the stereotype that Asians are yellow. After this I scurried my stuff together and ran out the front doors. I bolted through the bolt of my house's lock and covered myself in my blankets, letting all my emotions flow. I couldn't get out of bed for days, and that's when my drama teacher reached out to me because she knew I would never want to miss a single class of drama, let alone 4 classes in a row.
I explained in a vague fashion that I was 'going through some tough times' as I didn't want the principal to get on Eric Rogers' case. If the principal did, I fear what would happen to me for getting him in trouble. She suggested I talk to the school counselor but I declined, after all, I'm a man. I should be able to man up and solve this on my own. So that's exactly what I did. October 1st, 2002. I did a query on Whitepages to find his home address and I took my fathers loaded .44 magnum revolver; he called it his 'magnum opus'. I also took his keys as I figured it would be a long drive, about 23 minutes to be exact. I pulled up to his residence at 1:44 AM, and I knew that the coincidence between my guns' caliber and the time in minute markings was no coincidence. It was god and he knew this had to be the fate of Eric Rogers. I ran up to his front door and shot at the door frame by the key slot, shredding the one defense between me and Eric Rogers to pieces. I heard his disgruntled father shout out "Those damn neighbors with their fireworks again. WE GET IT! It's the first of the month! Stop with your damn Playboy Carti nonsense."
But these were no fireworks. I turn to the first room on the right, and I see his father and his mother in bed. BANG, BANG. That was what I heard in a hauntingly loud sequence. Neither of them had time to audibly react to the gunshot other than a knee jerk reaction to the loud sound. Eric Rogers got upset at how loud the fireworks were and he shouted out his window "I'm going to break your noses you annoying pricks!" He raced out of his bedroom with a baseball bat. He saw me standing there, revolver in hand. At the top of his lungs he screamed "Johnny?!?" then I shot him. He fell to the ground and became limp in a fragment of an instant. I still remember it vividly; the thud as 170 lbs of mass hit his beige-carpeted floor.
The sound of his blood leaking from between his eyes as if it was a faucet not fully turned. These killings filled me with adrenaline and a sense of calm like I have never felt before, everything was peaceful and I felt truly in bliss. After it faded, I yearned for that calm, so I chased it. I sprinted out the door to break into more homes and kill more people. His sister Amelia Rogers didn't blurt anything out and stayed as quiet as a mouse: she knew everything that was happening.
She called the police once I exited my home and within 13 minutes the entire mile radius was being surveilled by cops galore, including a dozen units in the neighborhood I was in. I made it to the 4th home when I heard sirens and attempted to flee out the back door. I figured I could break a cars window and duck into it until the coast is clear, but they were one step ahead of me. "DROP THE WEAPON!", I hear from an uncountable amount of officers. They had a type of authority bleeding through their voice that overrode any instinctual desire to disobey their orders, then of course the logical aspect of your life being ended right there if you make the wrong move. So I dropped the weapon. They threw me to the ground like I just stabbed one of their officers, cuffed me, and brought me over to the local jail. Now I'm here. I served 63 years in prison and am now an 81 year old man in Connecticut living my days out in a senior home. Do I regret it? To an extent. But everyone has regrets. I knew that was what god wanted for him, I just needed to be the messenger.
