  • Margaret Gatti-Mays, MD, MPH, a breast cancer oncologist at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC - James), explains that immunotherapy in breast cancer is currently the first line of treatment in the early breast cancer setting for triple negative breast cancer, as well as a first line setting for metastatic triple negative breast cancer. When immunotherapy is used earlier in treatment, a patient will often respond better to it. This may be due in part to a patient's immune system being more reactive against the tumor early on in treatment.
