- In October of 2020 I decided to quit my job, uproot my life in California, and convert a used cargo van into the tiny home of my dreams. With zero experience in electrical, plumbing, or woodwork and a steep learning curve to make it happen, I spent five months in Austin, Texas at my brother’s house building my little home. I finished the build and moved into my completed home on April 2021 and have been traveling full-time as a Solo Female Vanlifer ft. Puppy Copilot ever since. This is the van tour of my completed home on wheels :)

One of the first van build video's I've watched where propane safety is taken seriously!
I was thinking that too. I'm uncomfortable with the use of propane. I'd rather use electricity; there's something to consider with either.

Not only is this a living space but genuine work of art. I’d say the finest I’ve seen. This was my first video. I subscribed I definitely will love to follow your story. And the puppy always makes the channel. I think that’s why I tune in to some channels I do, to see the puppy or cat. Take care.

@@deborahroberts7331 A washing machine is a bit of a stretch for a van this size. That's precious space you can use for something else. There are plenty of laundromats where you can park and do your laundry.

no but seriously, I wish your vanbuild and this video existed when I was building out my van because I would’ve done so many things differently 😭 haha. I literally want to sell my van and do a new vanbuild (but then I really think about it and uh yeah, nevermind lol. I’ll live with what I got 😜)

Hey Maddie, love your van! Noticed that you put your duvett in the front set. I can't remember where I first saw this idea but I use one of my decorative pillow covers as a stuff sack for my duvett in my van! It works so well! No need to find a place for my decorative pillows in the night and looks great during the day. Don't try to fold it just stuff it in like a sleeping bag. Give it a try!

Wrap your kitchen spigot and hose in a thermal towel or blanket in the cold. We did it in our RV and it worked great.

Your build is impressive, VERY impressive! The solenoid switch to control the flow of propane makes good sense. You produced one of the most utterly thorough build tours I've yet seen. That said, visually your home exudes warmth, from the colors you chose to the green of your plants - mine is named Ivy! - and it looks like a real HOME. Thank you for sharing your home and yourself.
WOW, really nice & well thought out! LOVE IT! The only thing I could see that might help is that I'm 99% sure someone makes a collapsible/foldable strainer that would give you more room in your bulk kitchen drawer. BTW I love your wood handles. The look on Eliza's face at 23:52 was priceless. Great video Maddie!

This is litterally THE PRETTIEST van interior I've ever seen!!! I'd have mine done the exact same way! Gorgeous neutral tones, that pretty bookshelf .. wow (& I have lots of books)...just soooo pretty ! The only thing I might do different is an interior shower/bathroom in place of the full-length mirror/closet area. Sink & cooking range area... again...just beautifully designed, and that lagoon table design...gorgeous!

In my part of the country when it's expected to get frigid we open our cabinets and leave our water pipes exposed to the home heat. This helps prevent pipes bursting. The same should work in your van.
As far as the velcro is concerned I read an article about home remedies. It was spoke about removing tree sap from cars. They suggested chapstick. So taking some labels off of medicine bottle to be used later I used chapstick to remove the rest of the label and a glue and it works beautifully.
Goo gone works pretty good too.

I just wanted to say really quick that your video was awesome and inspiring. You did a fantastic job, and I love the woodwork/art! I'm a disabled vet with super limited income, and although it seems impossible for me to do something like this (financially), it's nice to see others be able to accomplish/enjoy it!
