    Nice looking build. It will be better with the wiring cleaned up. The big down side to the Crown Victoria suspension is how wide it is and the choice of wheels. I would go old school Fat Man front suspension and keep the stock 9" rear. If you want to lower the rear, flip the shackles and do a spring under. You can get big brakes and not need 17" plus wheels you can also get a nice looking backspace on the wheels without rubbing the fenders or loosing turning radius. Putting what ever engine and transmission in is the easy part.

    Excellent summary and it looks you are on your way to owning your own speed shop one day. I have a 64 F100 full crown vic swap that had a 223 with 3 on the tree. This truck had the straight axel and after about 10 years of leisure drives I decided to swap. One issue I have not dealt with is the title in the state of NC. It officially should be retitled through DMV but I still have both titles in hand. That is a pain and cost money. I know GA is a lot more lenient.

    • @gibsonsgarage2003
      @gibsonsgarage2003  Před 2 lety

      Sweet! I never even had a title for this truck, I sold it sometime last year. You can register it under a bill of sale in ga, so it was registered as a 66 f100. I gave the title to the guy I gave the body of the crown Vic to.

    You can run 16" wheels. The CV had 16". Something you might look into is doing a MN-12 IRS swap it. Truckirs out of FL makes a mount kit.

    Nice swap . Your truck reminds me of my old man's 1966 f 600 dumper. I fixed all the electrical gremlins the truck had back then in 1986,( I was 16 ). Super clean swap. Where did you say you got the crown Vic? Was it a interceptor or just regular chassis? I couldn't see your speedo. It tells if it is either one. Take care .

    How did you use the Crown Victoria brake booster without cutting the firewall reinforcement? Thanks

    Hey man love your build. I’m looking to do pretty much the same thing to my 71. However i’m not the good when it comes to electrical but i see you have the computer and fuse box, but as far as installation goes is it turn key once you get everything placed or is there additional wiring that is needed?

    • @gibsonsgarage2003
      @gibsonsgarage2003  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! Best of luck on yours. I ended up selling this one late 2021. I used the full crown Vic harness and got a wiring book. I took the original f100 harness and found where the same leads are on the Vic harness and put them together. Wasn’t too hard, just a pain in the but. If you look up on Facebook or CZcams crown Vic f100 wiring a bunch will show up, I definitely recommend a wiring book, fordification has a diagram for the f100 harness

      I ordered everything to rebuild a crown Vic front end off of “A1 Auto” for a pretty good price, and everything seems to be of good quality so far. They sell a kit that comes with upper control arms with ball joint already pressed in, lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links. I also bought new hubs and drilled and slotted rotors. Check it out, they have great prices.

    So the motor you put in had 230K miles on it and no issues? I found a crown vic with 193K miles for $1,100 and I'm debating if that's too many miles on it. Thanks in advance.

    • @gibsonsgarage2003
      @gibsonsgarage2003  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, paid $900 for the car from my local police department. No issues besides blowing spark plugs out. Common issue, easy fix.

    • @gibsonsgarage2003

      Originally I didn’t trust my welds enough to build body mounts, now I am fully confident I could. But it seamed like less modification doing this way

      @@gibsonsgarage2003 Fair enough. I have nothing against it, per se, but I like them the way they were. I had my ‘67 for over 30 years. She’s a good old girl, though I need to rebuild again. Lots of miles, lots of hard work.

      When I first got it driving I had like 6-7k in it. But then I manual swapped it, have had 3 sets of whees on it, tires, aesthetic stuff, all new interior, etc. parts are hella expensive right now, so it doesn’t help either
