    I forgot to add the most important information about this bag - I paid about $325 for her in 2002. It costs over $1k now.

      You can’t even get a Contemporary designer bag for $325. The classic speedy 30 with my first Louis Vuitton bag. No regrets!

    • @dawnlovescouture2644

      @@Shanycole I know, isn’t it crazy??? My Coach was $198 in 1998, and this Speedy 25 was $350 in 2002. That’s why when I hear people imply that they think certain brands are devalued because they go on sale and essentially judge luxury solely on price, or at least heavily in price, I pause, because 20 years ago there wasn’t a huge difference in price. Now, there’s a price increase every time you blink!

      @@ewa0101i Hello! I have the classic and that’s what I prefer because I like the classic look without the leather stripe down the sides of the bag. However, if you like to wear your bags on your shoulder or crossbody then I would suggest the strap.

    Louis Vuitton pre social media was good quality. I lost my bags while moving outside the US about three years ago and wanted to replace my LVs with new ones. I changed my mind after seeing how the quality had gone down and decided to replace my bags with preloved ones instead

    • @dawnlovescouture2644
      @dawnlovescouture2644  Před 2 lety +1

      A lot of people feel that way. I have had pretty good luck, but I can’t dismiss all of the quality issues I have seen in newer bags and slg’s. The canvas on my Speedy was heavier, as is the canvas on my older items.

    Bag is in great shape! My first expensive bag was a brown textile monogrammed style coach bag. Carried it to shreds. I always wanted an LV bag from the time
    I was a little girl. The first thing I bought was a pre owned keepall 50 B around 2015. It’s like 32 years old now. Now I have several pieces including a 2015 speedy B 25 and I am admittedly obsessed with the look and light weight of the canvas pieces. I prefer vintage!

    Just subscribed! Thanks for sharing this story and your beautiful speedy. I started shopping at LV in 2006 and I loved going in the boutique back then! Canvas classics everywhere, everything usually in stock, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Now you walk in and it's nothing but leather and seasonal bags. Nah! ☺️

    Hi Dawn! This vid makes my heart happy!! 💕
    I was doing some cleaning and pulled my vintage speedy 25. Made in the USA in February 2001.
    The vachetta has a nice patina but what I don’t like is the zippers and hardwares are a little rusty.
    It was my first luxury purchase as well.
    I was contemplate to bring it to LV for vachetta and hardware replacement but I think I will keep it the way it is for now.
    It shows how it was well used. (Used it once in college to shield myself from the rain 😂. So silly lol)

    • @dawnlovescouture2644
      @dawnlovescouture2644  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That’s awesome! 🥰. You can clean the hardware with Brasso, it should come out shiny! I would keep it is is, too. The patina is holding memories, and unless it’s dirty and beyond usable, it should be fine! 🥰

      @MsLulu-jr4on Před 10 měsíci

      Thank you so much for the tips. I will get Brasso to polish the hardware. 🤗 The bag is in great shape and no damage to the canvas whatsoever. They don’t make bags like this anymore.

    She looks stunning for beeing 20 years old! My first designer bag was a Speedy aswell (but in the 35 size) in 2011. It‘s crazy how the prices skyrocketed and I wish I got into Louis Vuitton way earlier and bought all the classics years ago 😅. Of course I still have mine aswell 🥰 I don’t use it that much anymore, because I prefer bags with shoulderstraps now - but as you I would never ever sell it.

    Does yours say Malletier under the Louis Vuitton stamp? I just bought one that is from 01/1991 and it says malletier. The date says it was made in the U.S. just curious if yours says that as well.
