  • Ethiopia has recently launched its Hawassa industrial park aimed at pushing the country's industrial development. Besides providing jobs for thousands of employees, the part is expected to attract a lot more foreign investment. CGTN's Girum Chala has been at the park and now looks at how jobs are being created and skills being transferred.

I remember as a kid growing up in America my first images of Africa were all the stories I was bombarded with of how so many people were die ing of starvation there. Now I keep hearing more and more stories like this. I just wish Sub Sharron Africa was keeping pace. They are making strides but not producing anywhere near as much industry and jobs as this.

It`s sad that we rely on a Chinese State ran Madia Channel to see such great stories from Africa. Stories that BBC, CNN, and co. don't want us to see...

you have to start from the bottom. Right now Ethiopia is competing on low wages and low government bureaucracy but in the future the country will compete on knowledge and educated workers.

its all market oriented in terms of pay. You want health insurance?? And good pay??? and then 2 months holiday per year and wage increase every year? thats when the employer starts looking for a new place to settle in. What do you think happened to all the factories in USA and Europe?

Sometimes US workers after monthly bill and other domestic expenses they wound up saving no dime, while these less privileged countries can live well with $35.00 a month income and definitely raise a family with it.

You always have to consider the cost of living when you consider the benefit. Ethiopia's cost of living is significantly lower than the West. As such, one dollar in Ethiopia is worth much more than in the West.
