Like this little radio and you can unlock them to do HAM, GMRS and everything. There is a weird programming glitch though. I had to unlock my radio, then read with ODMaster via Bluetooth, program in one GMRS channel and write it. Then I could use CHIRP from that point on but if I did not I would get “this radio incompatible with those frequencies” error in chirp!!
Thanks. I loaded it as TID and didn't see the H3. Your video made me realize there was a TIDRADIO option. Guess and check led me to H3-Ham as opposed to just H3 or the GMRS version.
I believe it depends on how your radio is set. If it's set to "Ham" - it connects to Ham. GMRS - GMRS. H3 when in "Normal" mode.

It is , but i can see a good use for the App in certain situations :)
CHIRP works great but has some issues with this radio, like TX power, also you can use the manufacturer programming software which works great too for the daily frecuency changes.
isn't there 3 ways to boot up.....ham, GMRS, \Normal. Maybe it booted up in Normal and that's how it accepted both

I've had TWO of these. Both malfunctioned after firmware updates! Neither works. One won't even come, the other the flashlight dimly blinks and that's it. No display on either. I do love the radio WHEN IT FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY!!!!

So my H3 is unlocked and it seems CHIRP forces me to pick HAM or GMRS only. When I try to paste my channels I get a list of all the GMRS channels that it states "are not compatible". This is not true if it is unlocked mode. Do you know how to get around this? When I try to download using the TD-H3 profile (not GMRS or HAM) it cannot connect.
Sounds like your H3 is still locked to one of the other settings. Try resetting it again. I had no issues when I tried mine.
Can this be done with an android phone or tablet? Or possibly by its blue tooth through odmaster???
Odmaster is the Android App. yes it can be done on an Android Tablet or Android phone :)
Have you done the video that shows how to get around the error on the H3 that says "Invalid edit: Frequency 162.475000 is out of supported range"? You mentioned you were going to do a video on that, but I can't seem to find it.

I can not figure out how to send a tone signal from this radio (It beeps into the selected channel with the desired tone 1000, 1450, 1750 (basic setting), 2100 Hz). Tried as written in the instructions: hold [PTT] + [ LAMP ] key (upper and lowest button) does not beep it. Tried to reassign the lower button from Lamp to Tone also nothing happens. It does not beep into the channel with the tone I need.
What am I doing wrong? Who can check on their own works or not.
P.s. firmware: item 42 is written version 240229 (it was when I bought it).
Set the tone you want to use (menu 32) then set the Short Key PF1 (odmaster) to TONE and update radio, make sure you are on the right frequency/ A or B then just press the bottom button and the tone will be sent on which ever of A or B is selected

I think you have mislabeled this video. You say early one that you have already preprogramed. That is not helpful
