I worked for McDonald's for 15 years and this is true. They make more money from real estate than they do from product sales.
Oh they rent the building to the franchise owner...

I tell people that all the time Mcd is not a restaurant it’s a real estate company. They own over 70% of they land. So they location have to pay them rent and profit sales, basically as a restaurant operator you would pay them twice.
