It's interesting how the group started with a cutesy style for their pre-debut, which gained traction but then switched to a more fierce style for their debut "Born to Win." This change made their branding a bit confusing, especially since they did something similar going from "I Feel Good" to "Strings." According to an interview, they actually preferred the cutesy style and didn't enjoy performing other styles as much. Despite this, they have become very successful. Now that they know what works, I wonder if they will go back to a fierce style although I think it's fine if they're going to do something like a ballad such as "Huwag Muna Tayo Umuwi."
I would say as a filipino and a long time kpop fan it just feels different how BINI has taught me to trust the process 😭 for years the ph had attempts to make *idol pop songs but i guess it was their time and moment, i would say both SB19 and BINI are trailblazers when it comes to making it into the international market much like how kpop suceeded in doing. Idol music hopefully will get more diverse, not just outside east asian pop but for the rest of the world.
Interesting point. For me, especially with these two groups, at least from how I experienced them 2 things stand out: 1. I think their songs are relatable to filipinos even if they don't listen to idol music as such 2. Rather than copy what other industries are doing full stop, they both found a way to share a bit of our culture to others in a format they're familiar with.
for me at first im like "why this song?" but it grew to me, now i love it because its fun and sounds like older JPop g-group which i love. 😅 this is on top of my playlist 😅

The man who put together BINI, chose The Final 8 out of thousands of auditionees and several steps including a boot camp, is "Direk" Laurenti Dyogi, the man who first discovered Sandara Park for Philippine TV. Yes, 2NE1 Sandara, who grew up in the Philippines and was popular there before her KPop career. Direk Lauren as they call him also showed strong instincts by insisting on Gwen and picking Aiah from those rejected for another audition. He also fought for BINI to be continued as a project in a company that didn't have the reputation of investing in talent. In fact it tended to have a sink or swim approach with its top vocalists, and little team building more of a Hunger Games approach. Your remark about how the vocalists don't try to outshine each other is on point and is a contrast to the old school way in the Philippines where even duets become little "battles" with too much vocal firepower.
The duet battle culture sometimes bothers me; ASAP does that all the time and it can be cringy like they bring in the original artist of a popular song and make them duet with another artist and they try to overpower the original like "I can do this song better than you" . Anyway, I'm glad that Direk really fought for the girls and didn't shut it down; it's all worth it .

I’m old and retired and i love Bini very much and Lagi Lagi and NA na na are my all time favourites. I’m slowly introducing their songs to my KPop crazy daughter and her bf. It’s embarrassing to admit that i been listening to their songs repeatedly for the last 2 months during our travel. The so called rabbit hole is real.

For the MV they really didn't spend much there and just put together whatever resources they had back then. 9:33 they actually performed it during BINIverse, while wearing the same white outfits as in the MV. I'm a guy who is into anime, Gundam plastic model kits and other nerdy stuff and then Karera happened then I plunged into the Biniverse. I witness their predebut back then but I regret that i didn't pay attention to them cos that time they are still young so i didn't take them seriously and I thought Bini was gone during pandemic cos I didn't see them much on my socmed the only time that I see Bini again was during their appearance in Show It All where Bini were invited to perform at the reality idol show in China and EXO Lay was one of the mentor and I was literally shock when I see BINI they look mature now and bam I became fan of them..
Did you know: Da Coconut Nut M/V was made with zero budget. It was shoot during the pandemic era. Their outfits were all borrowed, even the set. It was from the staffs and directors own personal things and dresses. Their white outfits were tailored by Stacy’s mom. You know what’s amazing, despite all that the girls were still very happy.

The man who put together BINI, chose The Final 8 out of thousands of auditionees and several steps including a boot camp, is "Direk" Laurenti Dyogi, the man who first discovered Sandara Park for Philippine TV. Yes, 2NE1 Sandara, who grew up in the Philippines and was popular there before her KPop career. Direk Lauren as they call him also showed strong instincts by insisting on Gwen and picking Aiah from those rejected for another audition.
He also fought for BINI to be continued as a project in a company that didn't have the reputation of investing in talent. In fact it tended to have a sink or swim approach with its top vocalists, and little team building more of a Hunger Games approach.
Your remark about how the vocalists don't try to outshine each other is on point and is a contrast to the old school way in the Philippines where even duets become little "battles" with too much vocal firepower.
The duet battle culture sometimes bothers me; ASAP does that all the time and it can be cringy like they bring in the original artist of a popular song and make them duet with another artist and they try to overpower the original like "I can do this song better than you" .
Anyway, I'm glad that Direk really fought for the girls and didn't shut it down; it's all worth it .

It was so weird for me to getting into Bini. I'm a guy who is into anime, Gundam plastic model kits and other nerdy stuff and then Karera happened then I plunged into the Biniverse. Got attracted with their vocals and message of Karera, then hitting me with their visuals and finding a bias and then getting biased wrecked by whoever I see. Then seeing their crackhead and non-existent idol image videos. Then knowing more about their struggles and the Bini Chronicles and Karen Davila's interview just cemented why I stan them.
They are such a positive influence and genuinely care for their family and how they are with each other. Just like Stacey said "Stan Bini PH!"
It's crazy that the rap line can sing like that and the other members especially Colet can just throw down and rap as well. Their dancing skills and synchronization is just so satisfying to watch.
