- The Flyers season ended on Tuesday night when the Montreal Canadiens iced the puck with 7 seconds left, allowing Shayne Gostisbehere’s Detroit Red Wings to tie up their game, sending it to overtime and ending Philly’s chances of making the postseason. Losing to Washington was just adding insult to injury for a team that spent nearly 4 months in a playoff spot.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill take a look back at the last few nights of the Flyers season, the 8-game losing streak, as well as some of the brighter spots (Sam Ersson’s bounce back, Tyson Foerster’s development) before turning the page on 2023-24.

With Jonesy in the front office and sign Berube as the Flyers next head coach. Think Berube could coach the younger players better than Torts.
Agree. I think Torts did his job getting the culture, work ethic stuff going.
Time for Berube to come in and build the team with young guys and give the team a little different look.

Not the best coach for rebuilding , because will don’t know what the young guys can do.
Torts poor coaching decisions were far more abundant then the ones made by the players.

Hilarious that all of a sudden after a 2-1 finish that everone forgot about the 8 game losing streak that cost this team the playoffs. They blew it. Should be talking playoff hockey right now. What a wasted opportunity.
can we stop talking about the losses? Like dude no one is talking about how many top 5 teams we beat TO GET to a meaningful game 82! I hate when bill just goes off the rails and talks all this shit. Like drink a coors and relax. This team got the points they needed when it did count. Every team had a multiple game loose streak and every team plays bad throughout the year. I get the timing but fuck dude we beat Florida, Dallas, Boston, etc!
... and all that got us was a middle of the pack finish, not good enough for the playoffs and not good enough for a top draft pick. No one is going to look back on the 2023-24 Flyers and say, "Well at least they beat Dallas!" This was a wasted opportunity, courtesy of a complete late season choke job that this city is all too familiar with.
@@MOTU_CTR I agree, but we also were supposed to be bottom 5 this year. All that experience for young guys could benefit later down the road. Then we can talk about looking back at the 23/24 season and finding value in it.
@_SsoR I think the value from 23/24 would have been playoff games. I hear all the time that back in October no one expected anything. But after 70 games this team was in a playoff spot. And then the wheels fell off. So given the 70 games of play, it does not matter one bit to me what the so-called experts said way back in October. This team could have been a playoff team, and had they gotten that experience, even if they went down in round 1, those playoff games would have been valuable for the players and the team. And who knows, maybe we would have won a round. Now we'll never know. And the opportunity is gone.
@@MOTU_CTR I agree with you boss. And hear you! My non expert analysis is that we should give them credit for a decent bounce underdog season. They sucked in the end no dodging that. They lost stupid games throughout the season, they got a ton of work to do and you’re right, playoff games would be way more valuable. That all being said gotta give credit. They had a ton of rookies, pretty sure they lead or were close to top of rookie points this year, they had a ton of shit happen throughout the year and still did well.
Wouldn’t mind finding a couple tolerable wingers for Charlie……
PS That was 1st time in my life I ever cheered for Montreal. NOT A FAN! can't ignore the 8 game loss in a row before last night. Ultimately...it was up to the boys on the ice. For all the last 10 games.
