I like the idea but I don't know that it would be a hit. End games, by their simplified nature, tend to be kind of dry (which is not to say they can't be incredibly tricky.)

Scotch gambit caro kann and jobava london. Really been enjoying your videos. Didnt reallyy know any opening theory was around 400 elo after knowing just how the peices move. After watching your videos im now over 500 elo and my games are playing out at 1000 winning all my games and have learned so much about how the pieces work together. Definitely learned more from your videos than anywhere else on youtube. Keep up the great work

14:12 Without the c3, after Bxf7, Ng5+ the black king can go to g8, which equalizes according to Stockfish. But after 7. c3 dxc3 8. Bxf7+ Kxf7 9. Ng5+ Kg8 it's mate in 2 for white. I've checked the Lichess database and Kg8 is the most common move, even among 2000 elo players. So that's a nice trap to keep in mind.
21:07 Q: In this position, instead of taking Black's bishop on c5 , why not insert the move Qh5+? The point is tempo: if the Black king moves, it must go to f8 or e7, in which case Qxc5+, Black moves the king again, and now it's White's move, not Black's, so for instance White can play Nxc3. The only alternative line Black has is blocking Qh5+ with g6. In that case, White can either just play Qxc5 or, more aggressively, Qxg6+. If the latter, then Black must move the king to f8 or e7 after all. So: Kf8 Qf5+ Ke8 Qxc5. True, now it's Black's move, but White has an extra pawn to show for the excursion. Or: Ke7 Qg7+ Ke6 (or Ke8) Qxh8, winning now not the bishop but the rook. The only drawback to all this that White needs to keep in mind is that Black's g-pawn is now gone and later Black may try forming a battery on the g-file against White's king. But that's not anywhere on the horizon, so White should have sufficient time to maneuver the dark-square bishop to g3 and shut down that plan. In short, after Qd5+ Ke8, immediately capturing the bishop is *obvious* -- you want to get back your sacrificed material -- but, if you take a moment to look for it, you can find an even better option which inflicts maximum damage on your opponent.

I've been trying this as well and having decent luck as an advanced beginner, but I'd be curious to see the kind of lines you get and the traps you know about. Cheers!

Gotta love the banter along with the cool chess ideas. Somehow I can remember the scotch gambit more than the london even though I have only just watched your video. I also saw the Lichess link without being told how to find it. (I did watch the video to the end too)
As a 1500 I prefer the vienna over the scotch. If a person is going to try and play the scotch gambit they also need to be well prepared to face the petrov as well. So in order to play the scotch one needs to be well versed in at least 2 other openings

Funny story. I watched most of this video when it came out and I ended the video at 30:00 Wished I’d of stuck around 2 more minutes to 32:30 because this exact thing happened to me and I got FORKED. TBH I’m shocked my opponent (1400) found this line
i been playing this opening for 6 months. I love the lines because the position is very open. I've tried picking up the london recently but i struggle in this closed position. Anyway, scotch gambit is awesome.

Been playing this for like a month now am at arround 1000 and funilly enough in the Nf6 variations after e5 most people really take twice on e5 with the Knights and get pinned losing a piece. They never learn

Alright then, Banzea...I wanted to comment on a couple of things here. I try to comment on all of your videos to show my support, but *especially* on this one, because all of these openings for white that start with the moves e4, Bc4 and Nf3 in some order were my entire repertoire with white when I was growing up. I played mostly the Italian Game and the Fried Liver, but there are a *lot* of really good lines that start with some arrangement of those three moves.
I actually wanted to ask you, and I really hope you read this comment and choose to reply...are you at all familiar with the Nakhmanson Gambit, or the Urusov Gambit? They're two very similar openings for white that come from those first three moves, where you basically just chuck half your pieces to get the fastest development known to man and start your attack while your opponent is still trying to decide which opening he wants to play. 😂
The craziest things about those two gambits, though, is that at first glance, they *look* like absolute garbage, but the reality of the situation is that if your opponent accepts either one of them, it would actually be really hard for you to lose. You would almost have to try to lose, it wouldn't be easy. Watching the games is crazy fun too, because they're action-packed and suspenseful -- White always seems like he's about two moves away from resigning, and then he announces mate somehow. 🤣
That's all, I just wondered if you were familiar with those two opening gambits. If you're not, I can't recommend them strongly enough. Seriously. The only problem I ever had with them, honestly, is that at lower levels people tend not to accept the gambits. It's not because they know the openings and the theory, so they're trying to avoid them... the reason is because, no matter why, lower rated players are a lot more hesitant to take free pieces in the center for the first 5-10 moves. I guess they're just scared because they think it's a trap. They'll usually take a free pawn, but just one; anything more than one pawn is obviously very suspicious, so trying to get them to take a free *knight* is just totally out of the question.
But, yeah... definitely look into the Urusov Gambit and the Nakhmanson Gambit, if you're not already familiar with them. The Vampire Chicken CZcams channel has a lot of really good information about them; he's kind of the leading authority on those two openings specifically.

I've won with the Scotch game 100% so far. Twice in a row. I'm rated just 585 and at my level, it seems black likes to come out with bishop to b4 check right away which of course is a mistake that puts white ahead. I like the scotch because it invites that mistake. I have yet to transform it into the Scotch gambit.

No. If the king moves out of the pin after the check the bishop is defending the knight again.

@27:45 Earlier in the video you said if the king is stuck in the middle you should keep the queens on the board, then you trade the queens here. Why not Qh5+ now that the bishop is pinned so you can win the Knight on g4 and keep the queens on the board?

Amazing opening for blitz and bullet, but I still prefer trusty Vienna Gambit - so many funny games when black takes on f4 and by move 7-8 they have almost nothing developed, white has pieces on good squares big pawn center and open f file
