  • The Sooners win their 5th Red River Rivalry game in a row with a shutout against Vince Young and the Longhorns in a low scoring defensive battle. Adrian Peterson is nearly unstoppable in his debut against Texas while QB Vince Young doesn't have an answer for OU's defense.

    Peterson was a man among boys out there. He should have been the first freshman to win the Heisman.

      He actually should've been the second Freshman to win it. Herschel Walker should've won it in 1980.

      Yes Im a Sooner fan but this was really the start of a Longhorn run that lasted through the following Colt McCoy years where Texas was at its best in my lifetime. They were as good if not better than any team in the country from 04 through 09.

    The Red River SHUTOUT! I love this game. It's the game that Peterson got huge recognition for running all over that Texas defense and the game Vince Young got taught a lesson about a dominant OU defense.

    Made a wooden toolbox for my Dad prior to this game, painted a football field inside and put each team logo on the outside ends to be unbiased... Dad wasn't too pleased to see the cow's head, but he didn't mind too much after the final score was painted on the outside... 12-0! RED RIVER SHUTOUT!!! Adrian Peterson was and still is unbelievable!

    If USC would’ve had the 2004 defense vs Texas it would’ve been a wrap. 2005 usc defense was good but not great. Even if usc was up by 12 points in the 4th usc should’ve won vs Texas but they got complacent celebrating on the sidelines. It is what it is. Texas wasn’t good at all in 2006 or 2007.

    I really know Texas didn't know how much better they were then OU but two years of having 60 hang on your head can affect the psyche. This same OU team got cooked by USC and AP should have won the Heisman this year but that's when voter's were B.S.

  • @OUfootballAuthority
    @OUfootballAuthority Před 13 lety +1

    @LookingAtYouFool You are right, the next year Texas beat OU pretty good. But you are forgetting, the next year the OU defense was literally a new team after losing nearly all its starters. Not an excuse, because it's always a team effort, but it does explain the inexperience to stop Texas the next year.
