20 years of the hardest running ever....just pride on getting it done.
6680 in 8 days was my personal best. My brother Mike beat me by 200 miles that week.

I hauled for Mr. C.B. Hodge from Texas years ago, I remember those Thygpen trucks. Seeing them here brought back some good memories! Cowmobiling was some of the best trucking I’ve ever done! Thanks for posting and hello to all my fellow bull haulers!!

Bouncing them off the windshield! We called 'em Texas Turn-a-Rounds. Damn! We got after it I gotta say.
I found that the cattle people were always the best people. I had a load of Mexican cross cattle back in like '79 or so. Went into Nogales, Mexican side to load them. The Mexicans didn't care for the health on the hoof, hell they'd drive the cattle 20 to 24 hours a day to get them up to the sale yard. Then, after they were sold the cows were "dipped" for bugs in a drop in concrete tank. Usually a few of them would get sick from swallowing the dip. Any way, that night I had a couple really sick feeders, I pulled off near Quartzite where I remembered seeing a cattle ranch just north of the interstate. I found it and just backed up to their chute, checked the corrals and started to just unload so I could tend to the sick ones and get them back up on their legs. About this time the ranch owner came out, he didn't bitch or anything, he just asked how he could help. He did, he had some type of injectable he administered to the two sick ones. He said by morning they should be fine, or dead. I cleaned up and crashed in the sleeper. 6:00 AM I hear someone banging on my tractor. It's the rancher all smiles. He said: "They are fine. I fed and watered all of them they should should be good to go." We loaded them up, I could tell EVERY head was feeling much better. I asked him politely what I owed him and he answered as I knew he would: "Nah, nothing, I just hope the next rancher will do this for my cattle if the need arises." What I found is, I never came across a rancher that wouldn't do the same thing. Classy bunch. Ya never see that freight hauling or tanker hauling. Bull hauling was the best. Period.
