    Thanks for this video! Love the idea of using quilting patterns. I used to do some quilting and still have my papers for drawing. Eager to follow your instructions asap. You are an inspiration. THANKS Eleanor in DC.

    When using the pattern, how do you compensate for the 1/8 inch grout spacing between each piece as the pieces fit together perfectly as in a puzzle?? This is the challenge for me!

    • @MakeitMosaics
      @MakeitMosaics  Před 4 měsíci

      The spacing for grout does not change the pattern. Do you mean how do you make the spaces consistent or harmonious? I like to tell folks that each tile, each piece of tesserae, needs to be a good neighbor to the next. And remember some materials like smalti and stone, do not want to be grouted. Grout is optional. Not sure I answered your question. For good fitting, it is all about precision cutting, and for that, practice makes perfect. Keep creating, and thank you for being a fan.

      Actually if I trace pieces of my pattern onto the stained glass, then cut them out, the pieces fit exact and then there’s no room for grout. I want to grout. Just think I’m missing something!

      I think you approaching as if making g a stained glass piece vs a mosaic using stained glass “tessarae”. Try cutting a pool of tessarae and then pull from the pool, you may need to make additional, nuanced nips. Alternatively, cut the shape you want to fit a space but cut it shorter to compensate for the additional space you will need as you cut for groutlines. Make sense?
