Theres something that NEVER gets old about the sound of a train flying through a station. Especually the occasional chirp from the wind against the windows (at least I assume that's where that noise comes from). Such a thrilling sound.
Itz the weels
The 125s and 225s are much more cool than modern replacements are I grew up riding them 30 years ago miss them
Much more comfy
I always hated the Azumas, but when I tried a 91, I thought that apart from the seats, Azumas were still better. I’m very new to society though, so who knows.
Same, but first time I rode 91 was when it was called East Coast in that really dull grey livery
They look class in the LNER livery.
Hard to believe they are now over 30yrs old the Class 91s. I see that 91008 is sadly been broken for spares. The Class 91 were a class loco.
The most thrilling electrics ever to run in Britain. By far.
Much rather these than azumas, my dad drove these and 125’s on ecml, part of my childhood. Even remember my dads pal letting me ride for a while in the cab, absolutely brilliant. Having to duck down every time we passed a signal box in case we were spotted haha
I remember these locomotives getting launched on the East Coast Mainline. They were absolutely amazing to see. Loved travelling on them. Loved them as GNER tbh and they were nice colours under that company.
Yea. I agree. GNER had one of the smartest looking liveries in my opinion. The grey and pink East Coast livery was nice too. Simple but beautiful.
I think the GNER did more for the ECML than any other company private or public in modern times. A great colour scheme, Mallard refurbishments, named locomotives and of course "Route of the Flying Scotsman" emblazoned on every coach. Up to that point GNER was a nod to the nostalgia of the ECML and the current LNER is a nice follow on as a further reference to the famousness of the ECML. Terry, Auckland NZ
I love it when they give a little tout of the horn
The 225s were British built just like the HSTs and look how long they lasted. I don't think the IET s will last as long. Shame the 225s and 125s are being replaced . They should keep at least a few sets running, as they look like they can go on forever. Great video
I could watch this all day! I like the fact a couple of 90s sneaked their way in! Great video!
Do you know when they stopped using the 90's? Were they a regular thing on this line or just occasional?
I moved to Sleaford from Birmingham in 2021 and have only ever seen the standard sets at Grantham Retford Peterborough etc
Great compilation, always good to see the 225s at speed!
4:31, 5:14, 6:43, 7:03, 8:09, 10:46 epic horn
A great video 👍 I just love these trains!! 😊
Great compilation of excellent footage
Absolutely fantastic 👍👍🇦🇺
A real looking train , superb
Brilliant video
Great video
Great video, I'll admit I had fun in picking out the class 90s too 9 in total
The 225s look so bloody fast don't they! I think it's a rule that coaches get less comfortable over time. We've gone from corridor coaches and cost couchettes in the past, to quiet carriages featured on these 225s, to cramped and crappy (Hitachi).
Very beautiful video bravo
I so love it this very much it is, so favouritable is! 💘😇💘
Excellent 👍
Awesome video
Superb! 💝💘😎💘💝
Wow, that train is flying!
This is amazing I wish they were keeping the 91s though
They are until 2022
They are keeping a few
M oh ok
Rob Games 10+ will stay with lner until 2023. With other 91s with different companies.

What’s scary where there’s pedestrian crossings is the train, at a distance seems fairly slow until it passes you.
I feel the need, the need for speed!
Awsome😊😊
The pride of the ECML
1:00 You also Filmed Class 90 DB
Nice
Still life left for them on the ecml just yet. Lner keeping 10 sets till 2023. Great vid btw
alex_trains 27 till 2023????? YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
💘😇💘
Saw 2 today
Still going strong in November 23 😊
@@danielbate13 extended till 2025 at least
Nice train
Nice video!
Who thought replacing these with Azumas was a good idea
They need to add this train to TSW 2
Yes they definitely need to
@Richard Chalklin What is your favorite station to film trains at on the ECML?
I have a feeling that the first time we were in intercity 225 we sat dow
what do you use to film?
Are those clips with a DB loco actually leased 90 class? How do they compare as far as the schedule is concerned? Are they still 110mph top speed?
Andrew Duffin max speed is 110mph, but the class 91 are 125mph so they can’t keep the full timing on all sections of the route
Awesome Luca! When will these things finally be retired?
Sometime in 2023
They are still going strong
@Floyd548 they're practically saying "bitch, you ain't getting rid of me that easy"
With the second clip you should’ve stayed filming as the 2nd 225 was distant and they were just crossing over
You should probably replace class 82 with DVT, as the class 82 locomotives don't appear in this video (which makes sense considering they were mostly scrapped by 1987)
8:59 where is this
Why are they being retired?
I guess they are old but they are brilliant trains.
Because components need more maintenance as they get older, and there is only so much fatigue a frame can take before the risk of it collapsing is too much. Even if they look great, like the 43s they've had a good run but it's their time.
Hopefully some will be preserved though
0:10 what station??
Retford, between Newark Northgate and Doncaster stations.
Thats the train from mind the gap in roblox! 😮
what’s the max speed on the 91
125mph restricted too
you managed to find a virgin class 92 at 6:53
Are they still keeping the Class 90s until 2023 too?
Yes some class 90s are still in service but sadly DB Cargo UK Withdrew its entire Class 90 fleet and stored them at Crewe Electric TMD 😢
Exhilarating stuff and British! Not like the plastic rubbish brought in to replace this flagship train
19:34 is that Weston-super-Mare station?
Weston station is gwr territory
Newark Northgate
1:02 db locomotive?
Yup
:o
DVTs
Is 14:38 running panto down?
No, the pantograph was however lower than usual in order to ‘duck’ for the many low bridges that are present at Peterborough station. If the pantograph was fully up it would strike straight at the bridge!
Sounds like etr500
Oi i saw a class 90
Nice video, shame the 225 is being replaced by uncomfortable and inadquate Hitachi rubbish.
They actually aren't bad from what I've seen and heard, but I'm an American so I'm not entirely sure.
amj20 most people in the rail enthusiast community hate them lol. I was one at the start but am starting to like them. 91s are staying now until 2023
The IETs are good apart form the interior which seems like you sit on rocks and is generally poor quality
@@alisonrawlings6679 Interiors of Azumzums not bad for a 25 to 50 mile journey. For 392 - totally unsuitable.
@@trainspottersouth speaking of which every one in America hates the Avela Liberty horn
Some are virgin sets so aren’t 2020 clips
Lovely units these are. Shame most of them are being phased out by those cheap and nasty 800 units.

I hate these trains they are too noisy, uncomfortable seats, and deafening horns
