    I don't know why he is ragging on this van so much. It is made for transporting a lot of people and a lot of things. It's not made to be a luxury van of any sorts. Naturally, it isn't going to be a super luxurious interior.

    I'm biased. I love my 2013 15 passenger. Constantly saying Old, Dinosaur, and Sluggish is annoying. I personally feel Ford did a good thing by holding on to the Crown Victoria's and E Series vans as long as they did. They were good, proven vehicles. Sad to see them go.

      +Chris Roth Sometimes older is better than newer. In terms of how long they've been around. You know. I prefer the Econoline or the Transit. If I were to have a van of this size it has to have a Diesel engine.

      The only Econoline you can buy new is the chassis cab and cutaway. Only available with E-350 and E-450 chassis. The engine choices are the 6.2 V8 and 6.8 V10 paired with a 6 speed automatic. However, the 6.8 V10 is going to be replaced by the new 7.3 gas V8 starting in model year 2021 and there will be a new interior update as well. You could technically weld on a wrecked Econoline van and weld the rear end on the cutaway Econoline if you wanted to.

    Dude! It's a VAN! Not a dinosaur... I love my 2009 Ford E150 XLT Premium Wagon. Bought it new in November 2009. 63K on it now and no problems. Runs like a top. Radio could be better and the hard plastic panels rattle in the back. I don't need backup camera but use the backup sensor daily. Very useful. This truck will right itself when in a snowy skid. Put snow tires on it and there you go for our NE winters. Thinking of buying a new one with Nav and Sirius. Thanks

    I had 2 models of these Ford and all i can say is theyre reliable and really comfortable ride especially the older model 2002. Their chairs are soft and really comfy. These Ford vans are really great and reliable. I dont care about you " Old School " description its the reliability and comfort were after. If you want one really High Tech ride a FLYING SAUCER. .

  • @alexands1261
    @alexands1261 Před 9 lety +29

    I'm not sure why you keep calling it "old school" every 5 seconds. I find it annoying. If you don't like it, why review it? First of all, a live axle suspension is perfectly normal for a truck and a full chassis is normal for a commercial class vehicle. Having an independent rear suspension is not necessary for van. The smaller wheels means higher aspect ratio tires, i.e: 70 series of 75 series. That's exactly what you need for comfort versus handling. You certainly don't need 20 inch tires with 45 series tires in a top heavy van. You also keep mentioning high step in height, but that's no different than SUV's. The transmission having 4 gears is not the issue, the issue is the final drive ratio. You also have to talk about power to weight ratio. Clearly you don't understand the audience for this van.This vehicle fits a need that an overpriced SUV doesn't. It gives you transportation, or utility functionality from one vehicle. It's larger than a minivan. The 5.4 Liter is not big on horsepower, but more torque, which is what you need for a heavy vehicle of this size. You keep referring to it as a dinosaur. Why bother reviewing it if you despise it so much?

    • @alexands1261
      @alexands1261 Před 9 lety +7

      +Khalid Al I agree with you 100%. This guy is a MORON. Why bash a vehicle? He can't stand to drive a 5,000 lb NON-Luxury vehicle designed to do a JOB, and not designed to be a personal car? Clearly he doesn't know what commercial is. He is biased, and shouldn't even bother reviewing it!

  • @johnharper2016
    @johnharper2016 Před 5 lety +2

    Reviewers favorite 2 words are "old School". If your going to review a vehicle do a little homework. Front suspension is independent. It is the "twin I-Beam" system that is very heavy duty. It has been around since 1966 on ford trucks. It works well. That is why it is still being used on trucks. You mention engine is 5,4 Triton. WRONG! It is a 2 valve engine. Yes, this is an old thread but I just could not resist responding. I have a 2013 version of this van (with back up camera) and tow a 23" Airstream trailer. Piece of cake. 8600 LB GVW, 3700 LB front axle capacity, 5120 LB rear axle capacity, 2530 LB Cargo Capacity, 13,000 LB Combined Gross Vehicle Rating. The guy should not even be reviewing "Radio Flyer" kids toy wagon.

  • @DarrenPersad
    @DarrenPersad Před 8 lety +17

    Yeah it's older Ford, but I much prefer this to the Transits. Don't get me wrong, I think the Transit Connect is an awesome small van, but I think it's a royal shame that these went adios. I genuinely like how utilitarian, basic, large and "powerful" they were. Still, they're so commonplace that you'll find them used or CPO everywhere, so no biggie.

    • @CJColvin

      I see em all the time at my work at the VA.

  • @cowanr775
    @cowanr775 Před 10 lety +9

    The appeal of this van is it's ability to haul a lot of people and stuff, it's ability to actually tow a decent amount, and the fact that it's a body on frame truck chassis which makes it very durable. This is a very utilitarian vehicle and as long as the consumer understands and needs that then they will like it. I think the review is fair because this is truly an old school vehicle compared to all of the new unibody vehicles that people drive today. This is different beast altogether. My fear is that if Ford does away with the Econoline and the new Transit has a pathetic tow rating (which it probably will) then Ford will be out of the true full size van market. That will leave Chevy and the new Nissan NV3500 HD. If you want to see a true beast of a full size van then take a look at the Nissan. That thing is no joke.

    Ford should use sliding doors on all vans, not split doors. Ford should never call their van a wagon. Everyone knows a van has sliding doors and it's different than a station wagon. We want to see a full size van with dual power sliding doors and stow and go seating. We want the inside to be like a conversion van with a 3rd row seat that turns into a bed. We want see the full size family van back into the market place.

    Needed a used reliable vehicle to tow 4 to 5000 pound trailer and carry 6-7 people and their stuff on trips. Pretty much only a full-sized SUV like Suburban/Expedition or a traditional body-on-frame was going to cut it. I didn't need 4wd. The fact that vans are generally uncool and SUV's are everybody's choice worked for me , I didn't care. So it was between 7-8 year old Ford or Chevy/GMC van. This is actually shorter than a full-sized SUV or pickup and that's nice. The ride isn't so good unloaded but I like it much more than I thought I would.

He paid around 23K-28K for it and it's a wonderful vehicle with a hell of a lot more room and comfort then some over-priced mini-van yuppie mobile!! The front suspension is independent, do some research before you open tour yapper. The 4.6L is not gutless, I have the 215hp version with almost 200k con it and it still takes the van upto 60 in 10 seconds, which for 7,000 lbs is not bad. Don't complain about the van using a solid rear axle, it is designed for strength. It is an insult to say it is a dinosaur. You are not a van person, clearly. Funny though, the ones from the 90s are indeed better. 1997-1999 and the early 2000s. I'll agree with you on the interior.

    Sprinters are becoming increasingly popular in the US ever since gas prices went up. The diesel engine provides much better fuel economy than a traditional V8 gas engine so it's now becoming the obvious choice for businesses and omnibuses. Remember that an E-Series is a very long, wide van while a Sprinter is narrower and taller. Even smaller vans such as the Ford Transit Connect are becoming more popular due to size and fuel economy. Fiat will sell a Ducato based van in a few years.
