Is Kung FU Panda 4 Any Good?

- I watched the Kung Fu Panda 4 movie and this is my review of the movie. Essentially discussing the entire Kung Fu Panda series as well as comparing it to the previous films to show how it just wasn’t as amazing as those. I like DreamWorks and a lot of their movies are good but some are just mid. In my personal opinion this movie was enjoyable but also mid.

if they had just made the codirector the director the movie probably would have been better instead they hired the director of the Alvin and the chipmunks movies.
I Lowkey loved Alvin and the chipmunks when I was a kid lmao
Phew. At least a great trilogy like kung fu panda never got any bad sequels.
An impossibility I say
it was meh, solid 5/10. so mediocre -- not bad, but not as good as the first 2 (3 was kinda weak compared to the first 2 as well but 3 & 4 kinda needed a little more oomph to really land). Great for a casual viewing though.

I feel like I had a good time in the theater, I'm actually a fan of Awkwafina's voice and didn't mind her as Zhen. However, the villain felt so weak despite her great potential as a threat. Plus, how is she too small to do kung fu? Mantis is RIGHT THERE GUYS. What could have been better was if she was a little more like Lord Shen without copying his entire arc. She was too weak or too stubborn to learn kung fu herself, so she took to stealing it from the masters themselves.
I really wanted them to give us something. Instead of tavern antics or drawn out jokes, why not show us The Chameleon's backstory? That's really the thing they're missing. KFP villains have always been the draw of the movies, so why skip out on actually making a good one?
I think it you summed it well the villain was also what I agree to be the main issue with the film. Just out of curiosity what thematic route do you think would’ve been the best for her abilities?
@@sokol_k I would say the best I can think of would be in wanting to make only outside changes, she refused to change what was inside. This was touched on in one line of the movie but I would have made this the central theme of the move and have her tie in way more of the message.

I would have shown her being shunned from master after master for having no real drive to improve herself. They call her too weak minded to partake in kung fu, but all she heard was that she was too weak. And so, she decided to take a dark path of sorcery, using her magic to shift into any kung fu master. One problem, she still possesses no strength. With the blood moon rising, she seizes the opportunity with the peak of her magic to steal all the skill from kung fu masters without so much as taking a minute to learn it herself. And it's this that would have been her downfall: not having earned ANY of the skill she took. While Zhen, her adoptive daughter, would have learned kung fu from Po himself. And in their journey, Po would have trained her before the blood moon to come back and defeat her own mother.
This would take some adjustments to the timeline and I would personally have it set when Po and the Furious Five have aged like fine wine and Po decided on his own that he needed to choose the next Dragon Warrior. That way we can really see his change after having Shifu pass, and the betray happens much sooner so that Zhen can come back and make amends with Po to learn kung fu from the greatest master of all time.

stop being so mean rude and or disrespectful to sequels they can be good or bad if we are not nice to Hollywood then we start making things up and lying stop lying and always be honest and tell the truth if it’s going to hurt the person’s feelings if it’s not true then don’t spread rumors and if it’s not right then don’t say it think before you say something mean because if we want to change the world then we have to start being nice own from your mistakes that you made in the past in the beginning we have to learn to move so that our world can have a good better future that’s why we need to stop acting like dumb stupid idiotic people who are behaving like kids who should act more like adults stop making a big deal about bad things going on in our world if we want to change the world then we need to stop being so mean and rude to our world
I’m not sure if you watched the video or not but I said the movie was enjoyable for a casual viewer. And we can criticize something without being rude. If we just lied about it’s flaws or didn’t discuss them publicly than they could never learn from their mistakes to potentially make even better movies for the future.
Movie was pretty good a solid 6-7/10 problem is the first three are 8-9s. I definitely feel like people are over hating it
Yeah tbh as a casual viewing I had fun but if someone asked to watch kung fu panda with me we ain’t watchin the 4th one lmao
The big dragon can only be used in the spirit realm, the only way ki can be used in the mortal realm is just giving life energy to other life forms like people or plants. The staff is connected to the spirit realm so I guess the dance po does with it is him creating a small dragon head in the spirit realm then releasing it as an attack.
I guess I can understand but it still a little weird like how can they use chi in the real world and we see quantitative luminous and physical effects but not have it be manifested? The dragon is just a luminous visualization of his chi which we know is also bright in the real world and chi (depending on it utilization) can interact physically in the real world when Master Oogway knocked out Tai Lung for example. Worst case scenario the strength of his chi should be the same and applicable in many more ways other than the staff dragon alone.
