      Thank you for your comments. However, just because you are choosing a different definition for the word, does not mean that that’s reality. I can’t arbitrarily choose what the word hamburger means. And words do mean specific things. If you want to communicate with other people, accuracy is the key to get understanding conveyed. and unless you were under 18 years of age, there’s no possible way that you can believe that women in minorities deserve the way they’ve been treated and the opportunities that they’ve been limited to.

    To me it’s all very simple. Be kind to everyone you encounter and stop being ignorant and scared of folks who don’t act or look like you. I’m a straight white Anglo male, but I’m educated and have been exposed to every culture and folks with a variety of sexual preferences. Darker folks inhabited these lands before your ancestors arrived and LGBTQ folks have been around since the Roman Empire, and probably before. It’s easy to discriminate and hate from afar (e.g. online or within your circle of friends), but sit down and have a drink with those you THINK you don’t like and I guarantee your view changes. It may be one of the “other” people who save’s your kid’s life one day. You still going to hate “them” after that?
    Lastly, not buying a Harley is not going to hurt anyone but you. Harley will survive no doubt, but you’ll miss out on many years of riding enjoyment because of your ignorance. Are you seriously going to allow Harley’s effort to be more inclusive determine the type of motorcycle you love and ride? Do you think someone will see you on a Harley and think you’re gay simply because of Harley’s effort to be more inclusive?

  • @superman0035
    @superman0035 Před 29 dny +2

    You’re wrong. DEI means that you have to hire based on race and sexual orientation just in the opposite. Choosing an employee based on their skin or other characteristics other than merit is discrimination no matter who it is. DEI is literally written in the many company charters we didn’t boil it down to that, they did.

    • @simplybeingshipley
      @simplybeingshipley  Před 29 dny +1

      Thank you for the comments. You are wrong. You are wrong in the sense of what DEI is. It is the enforcement of what has been the law for a long time. It prevent you from hiring somebody that is less qualified just because they’re white. Why isn’t that the racist, homophobes, or bigots always assume that the best person for the job is the white man? Because that’s what continues to happen.

    • @simplybeingshipley
      @simplybeingshipley  Před 29 dny +1

      By the way, I took a look at your page. Seems like your big Star Wars fan. You do realize that Star Wars universe from day one has been.”WOKE”? Do you see any female leaders of any importance in the empire? You noticed that the empire is 99% white male correct? It’s the rebels that are diversified. That’s one of the points that George Lucas is trying to make. I guess you missed it.

    • @superman0035
      @superman0035 Před 28 dny +2

      Having female leaders isn’t woke. It’s being a society based on merit. It is already codified in law that you can’t discriminate on basis of race, religion, gender, or any immutable characteristic. We don’t need DEI. I have personally been passed over for jobs and promotions in favor of those less qualified (i.e. not having as many years of experience, training, certifications, etc) just because the other applicant was a woman. I see it all the time in engineering especially. There aren’t as many women in the field so they often move up the ladder faster to satisfy DEI. People should be hired as though there were no characteristics other than merit. Nothing else should be weighed or cared about. I don’t disagree with women having the same rights as men, I disagree with preferencial treatment for any group.

    • @simplybeingshipley
      @simplybeingshipley  Před 28 dny +1

      We’re talking in circles now. White men have always been preferred. Regardless of what the law has said minorities and women have always been passed over. Are you under the impression that it’s always white men that are the most qualified? Because then your true bias comes out.you’re using the argument that is created equal to support unequality. at this point, you need to get more education on the subject that you’re talking about.

    • @superman0035
      @superman0035 Před 28 dny

      I’m a rocket scientist, you Neanderthal. Look, I can insult people too. I said that I (and many people I know) have been passed over in favor of people that were quantifiably less qualified in every way because of the premise that they need to be “fair” to minorities. I don’t think white men are more qualified. I know many black, Hispanic, and Asian men and women that are better engineers than I am by far but I also know many women and minority engineers that can’t even use the software needed to do the job that keep getting promoted simply because of their immutable characteristics to satisfy the woke DEI powers. If you can show me an instance of true discrimination where someone was passed over because they weren’t white, I will march right along side you demanding they be boycotted into oblivion. Discrimination is evil no matter who it is against. I want the world that Martin Luther king jr.. wanted. I want my children (and myself for that matter) to be judged based on their character rather than the color of their skin. I want DEI to DIE and for us to become a society that sees a man as a man and NOT as white or black. I want to be able to be proud that I am descended from Vikings, knights, and revolutionaries without being judged for it. My family fought to separate from England, then they fought to end slavery. The key to ending discrimination isn’t by telling everyone we are going to go out of our way to hire minorities. It’s by not caring who we hire so long as they are the best at the job. I don’t care what color they are or what political, religious, or other persuasion they belong to. If you are the best you should get the job. It’s that simple. DEI creates a metric that has to be met. It says that you have to hire so many of this minority and that minority. That’s not how it should be. Fewer women become engineers. It’s not because of discrimination. It’s simply because men and women are different and, on average, women don’t like it as much. That’s not to say that women can’t be as good, as stated above I know female engineers that are incredibly talented. It just means that if you make a quota to have as many women as men in engineering, you have a very small pool to pull from. Because of that, you will get less qualified individuals more often. I think you should take a statistics class. Though I think you’re missing several prerequisites.

    1. Trim your videos down to around 5 minutes because I rarely check out 20 minute videos - that's a commitment for most folks in this ADHD society.
    2. Get to the point and answer your title because people tune in based on your title. Then go into details supporting your point. Rambling on without getting to the point causes people to stop watching.
    3. There's no "nuance" to "get woke go broke." We have become divided, but woke companies won't get a dime out of me.
    4. Women & minorities shouldn't get special treatment because then you're not treating people based on merit and you're just creating unfairness at the other end. It's sexist and racist to think they need help - it implies that they're weaker. If they're as capable as white men (which you believe, right?), then they can overcome any obstacles on their own.
    5. Most people pick the side of decency and tradition but still don't have a problem supporting LGBT folks right to do what they want - it's when they start exposing kids to inappropriate sexual details and choices is what most decent folks have a problem with. What two consenting adults do in the privacy of their home is different than wearing a shirt with a flag that is essentially celebrating what many people consider a mental disorder or behavior stemming from childhood psychological trauma.
    6. We need to all get along and help each other. Playing favorites because of perceived past wrongs or perceived current imbalances is only going to make things worse. We need to come together, not drive ourselves apart.
