    One thing I’ve adapted is the fly lady method. She suggests to put hot soapy water in sink (or large container if you don’t want to fill whole basin) before you prepare meals that way you can let them soak in the water when you’re eating. Then afterwards all you have to do is wash or put in dishwasher. THIS has helped me tremendously when I’m meal prepping or preserving food and keeps things flowing so much smoother. I try to keep left side for soaking and right side clear for hand washing and that sort. I like the rinse the dish right away thing a lot though but I haven’t implemented that habit yet with my kids. I think that the rule of rinse and load in dishwasher when you’re done with that dish is something that I prefer because it’s a clean as you go thing. Something that isn’t talked about enough is the transition of being homemaker than incorporating homeschooling with your homemaking rhythm. It was a big transition for me when my son went from public school to homeschool because it made me realize how much of my homemaking I did when he was at school. Work in progress always but I’d rather drop the mess to meet with Jesus over focusing on the mess and miss that teachable moment with Him. Thank you for sharing!!

      I will sometimes let things air dry drifting on the day. But at the end of the night I like making sure things are dry and put away.

    Your videos have been so edifying for me. Thank you! I realize how much conviction I felt when you talked about changing to praising the Lord in the cleaning rather than grumbling. So needed this kick in the rear 😉

    Really enjoyed this! After I wash dishes, I let them dry in the dishwasher. The kids unload them and then the cycle starts over! You’re absolutely right about attitude. When I change my attitude about any task, the task seems much lighter.

    "It was time to put everyone to bed" 😅🙌 I hear that! We have those evenings where I'm like, yeah this isn't worth it. Y'all need to go to bed. 😆❤️❤️

    I absolutely let the dishes drip dry overnight in a dish rack that goes into the sink, and I put them away in the morning.

    You have a nice kitchen. Sometimes I fill the sink with water, sometimes it’s just one dish at a time and usually I let my dishes dry in a rack.

    Loved seeing how you plan out your next day and watching your everything routine. Really helps mama's like me who struggle with productivity in the evening. 💕💕

    I’d like your drying tip because the dishes can be there for a while drying. Another tip I found very helpful is putting a cloth on the table so I can scrub the dishes because holding the dishes can wear on my wrist

    Is it weird that I find watching the cleaning of your kitchen oddly satisfying. haha. I like how you get the school stuff ready for the next day! My sink has 2 compartments (one a little larger than the other) and I fill it up and soak dishes then wash. I find that I rinse each dish (more often than not) as I wash it then stack on the counter. I have to dry them and put them away immediately. :)

  • @jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable

    I’m going to have to try the dishwashing gloves! I fill the sink if I have quite a bit to do. If its not much, I just do one by one.

    I just came across your channel. I loved the reminder to be thankful even for the messes. ❤️ Dishes are definitely not my favorite job either, but it’s a good reminder for my family of God’s provision for our daily bread.

    You have a phenomenal sink. 😍 My sink is split and difficult to fill to soak dishes. When we hit the lottery and can redo our kitchen, I would love a big single sink.

    • @jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable
      @jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable Před 2 lety +1

      We couldn’t afford to redo our kitchen, but we replaced our divided sink with a large open sink for like $300. It was a major game changer. With how much time you spend doing dishes…it’s worth it! If we ever redo the kitchen I’ll probably get a nicer one that’s prettier, but for now it’s amazing!❤️

    Yes I’m right there with you on the mindset shifting. It’s something that God is definitely working out in me cause it’s so easy to complain and so hard to see the blessing and be grateful but I’m still a work in progress lol. We like to say in our home practice makes progress (because perfection is unattainable). Wendy! Dishes and laundry are 2 tasks I dislike the most lol I’m going to try the wearing gloves thing cause I don’t and being that we don’t have a dishwasher and have to wash all dishes by hand we (my girls and I) was one dish at a time I never thought to fill our sink and do the dishes that way, going to have to try that too lol. We dry our dishes by hand as we wash so dishes are not left out to dry unless my hubs is doing the dishes then all the clean dishes end up in a mountain to dry lol. Routines in general is something I am working on as a whole cause we a hot mess express over here lol.
