  • Jason Mitchell Outdoors - Season 14 - Episode 11 - Jason Mitchell and northern Minnesota fishing guide Jason Boser put together a solid jig bite pattern on Lake Winnie. After trying a few locations and experimenting with several presentations, the anglers eventually fine tune the pattern that is working that particular day... snap jigging shiners over deep gravel humps.

    Down through the years I've found that it is often better to cut the line on a fish hooked deep. The hook desolves away in a couple weeks and the fish will still eat even with the hook (I've caught some fish off my dock that I hooked a few times). If you need to really dig around to get at the hook, save the time out of the water and the tisue damage and just cut the line.

      That's bullshit. The hook takes forever to rust. You should just eat the fish...

    I'll be there a week from today. I've used this technique there before and it works! Can't wait.

    Great fishing! Jason, do you ever use lures to catch walleyes? If so, what are your favorite 3 lures you use to catch walleyes and in what condition, time of year or water depth do you use these lures? Thanks for any suggestions, tight lines!

      I like to troll crank baits a lot for walleye and also cast swim baits. One of my all-time favorite crank baits for walleye on natural lakes is a number 5 Salmo Hornet. One of my favorite swim baits is a Northland Tackle Mimic Minnow.

      PaulH if it's too deep it's best to leave it in. hooks deteriorate over time and the fish spits it out

    4:26: why did he immediately give up on getting the hook out, cut the line, and release the fish with the hook still in the fish?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety

      The hook was deep in the throat and on really deep hooks, you are better off cutting the line close to the hook versus tearing the esophagus as the hooks will rust out fairly quickly.

      You could also pinch the barb on your hook. Play the fish correctly and it won’t get okk

    4:30 what?! did you leave the hook in?!

    • @Wrathwithin18
      @Wrathwithin18 Před 9 lety

      GPC™ I looked too, but the Jason guy had pliers in his hands before the other dude said lets put him back in the water, they just cut the scene where Jason took the hook out probably as it can sure get messy

    Keep letting them go! Don't you ever eat them?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      Sure at times but usually just eat fish fresh when we are home. Don’t like the hassle of keeping fish on the road.

    put him in the box and then he realism it. smh. one reason I never let anyone handle my fish.
