He is one artist whose opinions, perspectives and insights I hugely admire, respect and take very seriously given his own legendary status as a classical and popular composer in both North and South film industries. Shankarji's musical knowledge and skill is right up there with ARR's and for him to shower such accolades on ARR in this manner is really remarkable. I hung onto his every word.

Thaniye Thannathaniye from Rythm, is a classic Rahman- Shankar Mahadevan song. Evergreen song. It was remade into Nachley for the film Lakeer. Then Ek Bagiya Mein from Sapnay, Urvashi (Hindi version) and Que Sera Sera ....these are iconic songs from this jodi.

Another important episode in terms of knowledgeable guests and I agree with the Moment of the Day as one of my many analyses about Rahman is reflected there as I always felt that most of his songs are not too genre based but rather has everything for everyone. It’s really the whole packaging of the 🎵 that makes even his genre based songs come close to everyone. I truly vouch for and respect his insight here.
However, though I’m yet to feel his insights to be as riveting like somebody as Rajeev Menon who worked with Rahman from the beginning. It’s not just analysis we need here but also tell us some more unique insights like Rajeev did and not which are a bit generic that almost everyone knows. Waiting to see for more unique nuggets from a brilliant singer and musician himself in the coming episodes!

Honestly speaking, I am really happy as well as shocked when I saw Shankar Mahadevan sang in PS2, always thought that the way is Shankar Mahadevan is now a leading Indian composer, would he sing for Rahman as before ?
First he is a singer but as a trio SEL he is a composer
He is a singer basically, although he composes in Bolly... he has always been singing here. Yes its not as frequent as before, but there are always songs that demand ONLY Shankar M. He hasnt scored for any films in South, so most of the people see him as singer here, in South.

I dont think Bombay was Shankar Mahadevan's 1st collaboration with ARR. Didn't he sing Urvashi Urvashi in hindi?
Dar Sir. Though Kadhalan (Humse hai Muqaabala) was released in September 1994, and Bombay in 1995, but Mr. Mahadevan recorded for Bombay 1st. Shankar Mahadevan somehow doesn’t seem to keep in rhythm his own words in this interview , Shankar at one point says , it’s not necessary to need 15-20 seconds to catch audience attention , but he forgets Shankar and ARR are from advertising jingles filed and learnt the ropes to catch attention in 30 seconds, so significance of 30 seconds in music is forgotten by Shankar , a great musician is Shankar , but this interview shows his side of ignorance and some attitude issues

Yes sir , I have subscribed, do watch all your episodes . But Shankar categorically denies the need of 20-30 seconds in music song is significant, but when he himself has made career out of 20-30 seconds jingles , he at this nearly high point of his career , cannot ridicule the interviewer with his attitude of rejection of 30 seconds in music . Found Shankar not to be humble as compared to ARR was my point actually. Thanks

To be honest, I should say that he is the mediocre composer who is elevated more by hype and sadly less by talent.Remove the hype factor from your mind, you can get the real Rahman in broad day light.
Recent scores of ARR are not as good as his earlier scores...many are just ordinary...
