a breakdown formula in Congolese that led to many different contemporary grooves including Coupe Decale and Afro Beats. Detente or rest, allows the music to space out whereby the bass rests playing less and the rhythm kneels more towards one melody and the drumset goes into its basic traditional tendency with as less on the foot to allow more breath while the traditional element on the congas or music generally emerges to provide the singer with lots more space to improvise.
