Durga , the Hindustani raga in Raag Durga is Bilawal thatt shares some features with Shuddha Saveri of Carnatic music (such as the note positions), but is significantly different from it in terms of the sancharas of the ragam Durga raga evokes the sringara rasa mainly. All swaras used are suddha,,while Gandhar and Nishad are not used. here the composition of Shri Sadhu Om Swamigal - 'Om namo Bagavathe sri Aarunachala Ramanaaya' is sung in excellent melody by Ramana Balachandhran...wonderful tone n diction....class layam.....Best wishes

Forgive me for some further thoughts. Just thinking aloud. Lyrics are not the peg on which to hang the music, nor is music the peg for the words. Words arise from the profundity and wisdom of a truthfully lived life: music too, though it might sometimes appear otherwise. Musical ability is not music, in that sense. All abilities move towards that which transcends ability. If we ourselves were not this destination, it would be impossible to embark upon this otherwise quixotic journey. One must go where words cannot go, one must be in a place that music cannot imagine, one must be a true stranger to oneself in order to be an artist. There is plenty of everything else all around us, so it is easy to settle for substitutes. May the south-facing Lord keep you in countenance always!

I would like to know the title of this Sadhu OM swamis composition or song. I could not locate it in his book Ramana Geetham. I am an ardent follower of Swami, only next to our Maharshi.

Can't thank you enough for this rendition. Now I know what 'heavenly' feels like! Not that it's obtrusive, but it would be nice if you could minimize the background sound of the sruthi. For some reason I enjoyed the raw live video from the ashram better than this mastered version. Om nama shivayah 🙏
