      The other dasy, I was wondering why we all love Nick so much - and I think it is not just because he is a cool dude and knows so much, it is because he has all the cool toys we wanthed to have when we were kids: chainsaw, digger, pickup, trailer, wheel loader, etc etc. Actually, he would be the ideal impersonation of a new character for the Big Jim action figure line...

      It's either a Lakeland, Welsh, wirehaired fox, or small Airdale terrier all of them very intelligent and independent thinkers, and interested in small furry game! No worries, they are really allround dogs and this one is used to tagging along alot, which is a great life for a dog. Wouldn't be fair to keep him cooped up in the trailer everyday. He was particularly intrigued by the scent of rodent 😁

      I had to remove a stump right against a concrete retaining wall last week. When they rebuilt the wall in the 70s they just backfilled behind the concrete walls with all the bricks from the old wall, so the roots had been growing through the hidden pile of bricks. That was in a back garden with no access except over stairs so all I had was a reciprocating saw, an axe, a spade and a small shovel. Thankfully the stump wasn't anywhere near as big as this one but still a royal pain!

    @KatherineAlfaro-zf2gk Před rokem +4

    How important it is to get all those roots out of walls and foundations.The thorough cleaning around the chateau is vital. I would love to see some business donate a month of use of a cherry picker so you could fix all the bricks on the fourth floor. Tear down the loose bricks and rebuild the brick walls on the fourth floor. This could enable you to be able to rebuild the wood supports to create the roof again. You need at least 2 men to bring up bricks and lime mortar to the 3rd floor and lift the supplies to you on the 4th floor. Maybe a local group of construction workers might be interested in donating some time to help you get the brick walls stable so the new roof can be assembled. The chateau has a great history worthy of being remembered for saving so many Jewish children from Hilter. Something to be proud of for every Frenchman living in France. When so much evil was happening during World War II, valiant Frenchma stood up to the challenge of saving Jewish childrens' lives and risking their lives while completing their great task

    Another great video Dan. Progress doesn’t look slow to me -I think you’re all going great guns and the improvements you’ve made are amazing. You should be, and are -rightly so, really really proud of yourselves.

    Nothing more satisfying than to see an area all dug up & smoothed out!

    Considering the history and time gone by, it only registers as a minor inconvenience. It could have been a house wall. Very happy to see the overgrowth cleared away. It doesn’t look so derelict now. You’re making wonderful progress, Dan.

    Love watching Nick such a professional where his machinery is concerned and so knowledgeable about the trees. My son and late husband are foresters my son did a Degree in Forest Science and my husband worked as a young Supervisor Forest Trainee because in those days our Universities did not offer a degree. So have really enjoyed the addition of Nick with all his different skills to your videos. And I just love that little Terrier of Nicks . You are doing such a good job and I hope you get to enjoy the fruit of all your very very hard work.
