love how sandland did not get any emojis haha. the review still stands
thanks David!
All parts of my body are ready for Eiyuden and I do mean ALL PARTS OF MY BODY.
even ur cheeks ?
I have been waiting for a new suikoden for 18 years. I never wanted to buy a game day one more than this.
You and me both 🎉
Eiyuden Chronicle will be my anticipated game of April 😁
Can't wait till it finally release!
I'm so excited for SaGa Emerald Beyond, I'm really happy they brought back the varied character and race types.
Winter isn't gone here.
I'm excited for Stellar Blade, Kim Hyung Tae is one of my favorite artists. Looking forward to playing the demo this weekend
I'm looking to playing SandLand hoping to see a Toryiama Easter egg.
Cool, I didn't know about the Class of Heroes 1&2 Complete Edition.
April is looking like it's going to be Eiyuden Chronicles, Stellar Blade and SaGa Emerald Beyond. SaGa Emerald is giving me SaGa Frontier vibes and that was my introduction to the wonderful if inconsistent world of SaGa games. (I really tried to like Unlimited SaGa back on the PS2)
I’m definitely going to be picking up Eiyuden Chronicles but now that I watched your video I’m very curious about class of heroes. I’ve never heard of it but I love old school first person dungeon crawlers (Shining in the Darkness!). Thank you for the video and putting this on my radar!
I think you might be interested in the indie JRPG LunarLux. It's got a saturday morning cartoon vibe, and a lot of mini-games integrated into the combat.
I backed Eiyuden Chronicles, and I'll likely be getting Stellar Blade, No rest for the wicked, Emerald Saga, and a couple more.
Ive already pre ordered Sandland. After the demo, its my most anticipated game of April.
Im especially excited for stellar blade. People playing the demo say it's souls like difficulty.
Hello there David! As far as April releases go, I'm most interested in EC Hundred Heroes and Stellar Blade. But sadly, they'll have to wait until get through Unicorn Overlord, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, and Star Ocean The Divine Force. Thanks for another great video and have a blessed day!
Oh man, some GOOD games coming in April! And, I know you aren’t into Souls-likes but appreciate you covering them for your fans like me!
Since April's the month of my birthday, I may try that Class of Heroes game as a personal birthday present for myself, still sucks that the physical version of Eiyuuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes got delayed, but I'll deal, and as much as I wanna try Stellar Blade, I don't have a PS5. I may ask for one at some point if my PS4 gives out, but I'll be okay for the most part. Who knows? I may check something else out.
I am BEYOND (heh) hyped for the new Saga game. It really seems to be building on the best aspects of the series in storytelling, player choice, and combat. I absolutely loved Scarlet Grace Ambitions, and this looks almost like a cross between that and SaGa Frontier, another favorite.
Me too. Too bad no one outside us seems to know it exists. You'd think the internet would eat up a game with a playable cat and opera singing robot.
I'm excited for Sage Emerald Beyond, I love the Saga series so I can't wait to play this. A new Saga game AND a new Mana came? This year's amazing!
Class of heroes 1+2 and stellar blade both are preordered I can’t wait. I finished the stellar blade demo this afternoon. I’m excited
If your only complaint about the Eiyuden Chronicle demo is it wasnt long enough that makes me even more hyped for it. Ive been really in the mood for a good classic ps1 era rpg lately.
Have you tried Chained Echoes? Been at it for 30ish hours and not regretting taking the time to get into it. Eiyuden though 🤤🤤
@@MattCayen I was just gonna recommend them Chained Echoes until I saw your comment. It was the best jpg I played last year, really underrated
Chained echoes was OK but it felt kinda shallow for a RPG, no individual leveling, no grinding, gameplay wise it just felt kinda simplistic
@@mathewhosier9739 I've been playing jrpgs for 30 years and this level system is great to me. The individual leveling which made me go nuts and restart the game sometimes cause all my 4 characters didn't have the same amount of exp, getting spells at certain levels like BOF or buying them like older FF, meh. Innovative system with harder/longer battles but less of them is 🤌. I think Chained Echoes and Sea Of Stars both made battles feel old-school yet very involving. Never felt as exhaustive as most older and even recent turn-based jrpgs.
@MattCayen it's just way too simplistic and narrow for my personal tastes, I want progression to be complex and deep, the deeper the progression you more you can manipulate your character builds to do what you want, chained echoes is extremely limited in terms of build variety and progression
RPGs are killing it in 2024, so many amazing games so far, can only imagine what the rest of the year holds as we will be a 3rd of the way through in April. I most likely will not be picking up stuff Day 1 (or even relatively close to release) but Stella Blade and SaGa are two that def have caught my eye for sure. Wonderful recap of the games to come in April, love the content - keep up all the great work. #Roadto75k
I've been waiting for Hundred Heroes for years when I saw the Kickstarter! So hyped!
Naturally, I'm looking forward to SaGa Emerald Beyond and Legend of Legacy. Eiyuden Chronicles is pretty exciting too - Suikoden 2 is an old favorite of mine.
I'm still waiting for my Sea of Stars copy to ship. Hopefully Chained Echoes will also get a physical release eventually so I can play that. Oh and Unicorn Overlord too, that has been unavailable physically since release.
Can't wait for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. I wasn't to sure about Class of Heros but what I've seen so far it looks interesting. Plus it was only $40 on Playasia.
I'll have to keep my eye on Megaton Musashi; Stellar Blade looks like it might be cool, too, but it doesn't look like it's coming out for PC just yet.
No Rest for the Wicked is fantastic.
A souls-like in an isometric diablo-like style.
Also, Ori and the Blind Forest is 9/10 and Ori and the Will o the Wisps is 10/10 games.
This will be a massive hit for sure. Akira Toriyamas SandLand will also probably be a 10/10, no doubt.
I'm really excited for Stellar Babe, the characters are gorgeous and I'm just loving the game's aesthetics overall. We're eating so good this year!
Thank you, atleast ONE dam channel gave the EC a shout out on their monthly list.
Oh man, some GOOD games coming in April! And, I know you aren’t into Souls-likes but appreciate you covering them for your fans like me! “Withering Rooms”, “Eiyuden Chronicle”, and “Megaton Musashi W” look awesome!
omg David i'm literally counting down the days until Hundred Years War, every time i see it, it just looks more and more stunning. this is a dat one, GOTY right out of the box, without any competition in site (Visuals of Mana is in their rearview at least!)
I can't wait to play Eiyuden Chronicle and SaGa Emerald Beyond!
I was going to get Sand Land anyway because it has a Toriyama meets Metal Max vibe - but now I feel obligated to buy it since his passing.
I love how you always clarify when a video is general news or when something is about your tastes and preferences. I generally align with your tastes in gaming, which is why I am subscribed, but I also don’t miss out on anything that might be outside of your exact preferences. There is a clear line on your personality and non bias info, something many hosts stumble at and end up getting a bunch of angry fanboys hating on them in the comments.
Thank you for that! It’s definitely a balancing act but I think it’s worth it!
These past few years have been amazing for jrpgs.
Eiyuden Chronicle now has a physical release date of June 11 on Amazon 😢
It says April 23 for PS5 and may 21 for the switch on the US Amazon page.
I didn't know about Megaton Musashi, that game looks dope.
Ooh, I didn't know Class of Heroes was getting a remaster. I remember playing 2 of PS Now a little bit and liking it.
RPG fans eating well this year.
Stellar Blade demo just released and is getting massively good reviews, even by companies that ragged on it before about Eve are now saying it's excellent. It's a cross between like a Devil May Cry/Bayonetta and Souls games. Combat is fast and flashy but you have to be strategic in your attacks and learn your enemies abilities and make counters. If you just go in attacking, you'll die. Visuals are excellent (past Eve), good story, lots of customization with skills trees, still have exploration, and game runs smooth.
Eiyuden is of course my most hype game for April. I'm also interested in SaGa Emerald Beyond, but come on Square, can we not get physical releases for SaGa games over here?!
Also, cool thing with Stellar Blade: the lead director said that any additional content will be free and that they feel single player games with a definitive ending are important for the industry! Love to hear that!
Is that megaton musashi game getting a physical release? It looks so cool and right up my alley!
Megaton Musashi: Wired is a digital-only release, sadly.
I remember in 1 of your videos, you said you were 10 in 1992, so you were born in 1982. I'm about 12 years older, 53, turning 54 in September. I grew up with Atari, Texas Instruments, Commodore 64, then NES, SNES, being spoiled and owning almost every system growing up. I currently have my PS5 and a gaming Razer Laptop, gaming PC rig etc.
There are 2 famous IP trilogies that just mirrored each other since their initial release, a few months before COVID hit the US, and the 2nd IP, the same month as COVID hit, that did, or should I say DID NOT do, continuation wise, that made absolutely NO SENSE lore wise, and extremely bothered my OCD.
Atelier Ryza: For the first time in Gust's Atelier series, they were making a direct sequel starring the same character. Hey, great! I love both magic and alchemy type games. Boy, did they pull a fast one. I bought part 2 for PS4 the week it came out, at full price, and I certainly got a surprise: Even though it was set 1 year after the end of Part 1, and everyone went their separate ways, Ryza was back down to Level 1 Battle Level AND ALCHEMY LEVEL. WHAT? That makes absolutely no sense lore wise. It's the same character, we are missing a year in her life, if anything, she could be level 51-53 by now in both battle XP and Alchemy. This bothered me greatly, and they took the lazy, easy road, instead of making enemies Level 51 etc out in the field. I would have never bought Part 2, and I refused to buy #3. I don't care how great everything else in the game is, I'm "old school" and boycott things I disagree with. I just refuse to give my money to a company that could easily have Ryza end with Level 150 in both Battle EXP and Alchemy level.
And then we have the second IP that did the SAME EXACT THING: Final Fantasy Remake & Rebirth! Before Remake came out, I had asked on the official forums: What will be carrying over to Game 2's save files? I always thought ahead, but teens and guys in their 20s just didn't care, some were like "That's 4 years away", etc. What I was expecting, was to be able to carry over money, finished maxed out Materia, and your current level, assuming everyone would normally max it out anyhow. Now, fast forward to just before Rebirth's release. We find out that NOTHING CARRIES OVER. Up until release week, I was fully boycotting Rebirth for this very reason. I'm not going to be hypocritical though, once I found out you get the Ramuh and Leviathan's summons from the INTERgrade, Remake save file, then the item drop rate up charm and some potions from the demo save, I decided to buy it at the last minute......... And, guess what??
YOU ARE LEVEL ONE ALL OVER AGAIN?!!! You literally just left Midgar and the story is continuing from there, but hey, Square Enix, why don't you follow in Gust's footsteps and RESET THEIR LEVELS TO 1 again? "Sounds like a good idea. HAHAHA!" Ridiculous!
What are your thoughts? You should do a video on this topic to alert others who may agree with me.
No rest for the wicked looks dope. That studio does amazing work.
Legend of legacy and grandia. Now followed with eiyuden chronicle and now saga I'm going to be in trouble
Stellar Blade looks interesting. Do you think Eve gets an apple out of that vending machine in the demo footage?
Darn have been waiting forever for Eiyuden Chronicle hopefully it delivers.
Wasn't aware of the existence of guild saga, looks interesting.
Thank you.
Thank you for yet another great Video, David. I hadn't heard about most of the games on the list, but it seems like there are some real gems amongst them, so I wishlisted 3-4 of them on Steam. Keep on rocking, you hot, hot man!
I'm looking forward to a bunch of games but I gotta beat what I got first. I think I'll get Sand Land as I don't have a PS5 yet. I'll also check out that horror RPG as it looks good.
Eiyuden all the way! As well as the Suikoden remasters when they come out!
Awesome video. I believe that there is a game missing though. Whisker waters comes out on April 26. It's a fishing RPG similar to the legend of the river king series.
Can’t wait for eiyuden looks awesome!
Is eiyuden chronicles Demo gonna be released to everyone? Great list!
Eiyuden, No Rest for the Wicked and Stellar Blade (for men of culture)
My backlog is too big, more often than not these days I buy a game to support devs and never get around to it 😂
I can't wait for Eiyuden Chronicle to come out since I'm having fun with playing Unicorn Overlord. The hype is consuming me rn lol
Looking for eiyuuden simply because i probably will finish platinum of ff7reb by that time or like a week or two after eiyuuden release
Eiyuden Chronicle is going to hurt in the feels... for obvious reasons. SaGa Emerald Beyond is going to get my attention.
I've got a lot of work to do to clear my schedule by the time Eiyuuden comes out...😅
Cutesy, wootsy, with Tootsies. David, you're the best. . excited for Eiyuden Chronicles. I will wait for your review of Saga game before purchasing. I don't want a weird Saga. Thanks for these monthly videos David.
I'm looking forward to Eyuuden Chronicles and Sandland.
I really hope the full game of Sandland is better than the demo, too.
Lastly, that "Class of Heroes 1&2" looks like something right up my alley, sans the school setting 😅, so I'm going to keep an eye on that too 😊
The rest of the list isn't for me. If there was a derge of games to play, I would probably pick up "No rest for the Wicked", but the list of games up my alley is too long as is already, I need time to make a dent in the backlog 🤣
Eiyuden is a must buy for me. Saga, SandLand and the others, I'll wait for the reviews first.. Thank you for the list, David 👍
Well that moon glow bay game def reminds me of 80s east coast Canada. In fact it looks like my neighboring Nova Scotia town here in 2024 haha
I’m wondering if there won’t be a physical for Emerald Saga. Usually they would have dropped a preorder by now.
not a jrpg exactly, but I am so excited for Death Mark 2 and Corpse Party 2
No rest for the wicked is one of those games I hope comes to the Switch or rumored Switch successor at some point. That one looks super interesting.
"Tits and ass aside" 😂. That killed me off.
Moonglow bay reminds me of the tourist.
I know a couple of RPG's on this list that i'm keeping my eye out for (SaGa Emerald Beyond, Eiyuden Chronicles and Class of Heroes remaster).
Also imagine if Konami decided to shadow drop the Suikoden 1 & 2 remaster around the same time as Eiyuden Chronicles, That would be one hell of a coincidence, But i'm just imagining things.
I think they’re stuck in development hell. We still don’t have a release date :(
I'm way too hyped for Megaton Musashi. I feel like I've been waiting forever
Eiyuden Chronicles and Stellar Blades apear to be the only 2 I'll be getting. Reviews of Sand Land may change my mind if there is real substance to the game beyond what was in the combat demo.
Idk what it is but I find your voice soothing. Maybe its your inflections.
let's gooo new david video
I thought i saw eiyuuden coming out in may for switch
Just finished Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, playing thru FF7 Rebirth now, hope I finish it before Eiyuden comes out.
April JRPG time
Eiyuden should be released for ps5 aswell. Cant wait
Btw David! Seems you were right about the suikoden remaster release date months ago
I think your skepticism with Sandland is kind of misplaced. As someone who’s big into manga Akira Toriyama’s death was a huge deal and his merch/books are selling out all over the place. His name being on this so close to such a tragedy only made it more notable. Likewise Stellarblade is PS5 only as opposed to Sandland’s multiplatform approach. Not trying to be gross and say his death was great for marketing or anything like that. Just that when amazing people pass who have put out great art this usually happens.
Stellar Blade is not just my most anticipated game April, it's my most anticipated JRPG of the year, period.
Ps5 exclusive tho blergh
Is it a JRPG if it’s developed by a Korean studio?
@@williamtwotimes Yeah, that's how I best describe this game.
@@williamtwotimesno. But that's ok. I've also heard from the demo that it's somewhat of a souls like in terms of difficulty. I'm downloading the demo now.
It's not a JRPG, it's barely even a RPG, plus it was developed in South Korea, its more of a character action game like Bayonetta, devil may cry or sekiro
Bro I'm heading into my 40s and I need to get the secret to your gym gains.
I'm more focused on my career and all that, but you and I both know that time will pass...and on the back end of that, I need to have gains like Goku and mother fucking DAVE.
Oh yeah and its JRPGs in the dungeon to avoid the screeches of the wife. But she can deal, with those career gains thrown her way.
Withering Rooms looks pretty but seems slow for the 2d action RPGs I like, give me SOTN clone. Souls like to me means, devs do not know how to balance the game.
Only one I am really looking for is Eiyuden Chronicle and the back burner is Sand Land (not enough info & demo was what it was). Others are basically nope.
Kickstarted Eiyuden back in July 2020, finished the Rising spin-off game (enjoyed it greatly), and really enjoyed the Hundred Heroes beta. Definitely looking forward to Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes most of all this month. The Sand Land demo was terrible for sure, not sure why they thought that would sell the game. They simply throw 3 characters at you with no info about who they are, so you can listen to them banter back and forth for a while in a mostly uninteresting wasteland environment.
definitely trying europa right the fuck now, downloading demo as we speak
i mean, lets be real, ori and the will of the wisps was in and of itself, a souls-like metroidvania, so its not unlike moon studios to venture into the realm of souls like
okay, so after playing europa demo, im 100% buying it, its so damn charming and the traversal is incredible
nice list to bad Guild Saga delays launch to august
Got a few on the wish list but wont get to them this year.
I wish i was more hyped for Eiyuden...absolutely adore Suikoden 1 and 2. Going to play it as soon as i finished Dragon Quest 11. The Saga game looks like a mobile title :/
EI-YU-DEN!
EI-YU-DEN!
EI-YU-DEN!
Seriously, I wish I hade the amount of time to play Videogames
No rest for the wicked is not a JRPG, its a western ARPG more similar to diablo or torchlight
For me Sandland is the one that calls to my JRPG heart but the demo was meh so I hope the final product is better so I will wait and see the reviews on it before even considering getting the game!
maybe Akira Toriyama saw how bad Sandland was and it killed him (i'm going to hell for that one)
Stellar blade ain't no rpg but thanks for the reminder
I've been thinking of cute names for you that's the only pg one I can say on here lol
Sand Land definitely picked the wrong month.
Was never much of a saga fan, could never get into their interpretation on progression and leveling, it always felt too simplistic for my standards
Hey bunny
Winter is gone? David stop lying it is still freezing here. (I'm in Chicago.).
I’m in beautiful balmy Vegas, high of 73 today :)
Bro - I can't keep up! :( :( :(
Eiyuden Chronicles here i come! I'm finishing up Dragons Dogma (7/10 imo) and before that FF7 Rebirth (10/10 imo)
I was excited for Sandland until i played the demo which i didnt like that much.
Ahh the Saga games. Frustrating without a guide and more time consuming in that sense than other jrpg’s. 80% of time, I have no idea if im doing anything right in the Saga games. 😂
Stellar booba
Looks like a few of these have been delayed.
I really dodged a bullet after hearing your review on the Sandland demo. Was interested about the release because of DQ and Akira Toriyamo, but now I'm glad I didn't reserve it.
