- There is always a down side to having a salvage yard and that is fallowing the rules. This car should not be here, it should be out on the road. But the vin has been declared scrap so this yard will be its final resting place.
Fortunately it's a 231 V6, so it's not worth much. But, it should be saved. No, it's a 3.8L engine. It has the base engine available that year. McKnight Pontiac-Buick became Randy-Marion, which is still in business at 220 West Plaza Drive in Mooresville, NC. Yes, the Chevrolet 305 V8 (RPO code "LG4") was an option in 1986. GM went to a white background on the stickers in later years just for that exact problem you mentioned.
We got the VIN, we win: 2G2 for Canadian made Pontiac, GK37 for Grand Prix LE, A for 3.8L (231 CID) V6 with two barrel, Buick produced, RPO code "LD5", aka "I hear you knockin'", 7 is a check digit, G for the 1986 model year, 2 for St. Therese, Quebec Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The St. Therese plant closed in 2002 and last produced the 4th generation (1993-2002) Camaro and Firebird. The "LD5" 231 V6 in these years is a problem child and suffers from poor engine oiling.
No tag, can't brag, no SPID, wish you did, but this is possibly code 71 Medium Red exterior paint.
This one is in great shape, at least the body and interior, my Dad had one of these. Hope it finds a good home and not the crusher.
If there is no rust underneath keep it. If there is remove the fenders front bumper assembly, hood, doors, trunk lid all of the interior and console as well as the instrument cluster snd dash if it's not damaged.
You can do an involuntary transfer of vehicle title in any state.
I thought you could do that in any state👍🏾he should see about that.
totally worth saving. I could easily get a bonded Texas title on it! sell it to me and ill get it picked up and brought to Texas!
Swap the vin plate?
they look sharp when fixed up---It's really worth saving --!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-nice riding car
Might need those wire wheel covers & locks as well as the center high mount stop lamp
3.8 V6 or the 305 V8 are the only 2 options for the powerplant
I wanted to buy one years ago but couldn't find one anywhere for sale. I see them in car shows now as they are collector items now.
That beauty deserves a second life
You can't sell it with a bill of sale as a parts car?
I would love to put it in my backyard and look for another one just like it with a clean title. Swap over all the bolt on parts. Maybe cut the frame up and use it to box in the frame on the other car. Cut out any sheet metal that might be needed later. I wouldn't let anything on this car go to waste.
Cars like this are disappearing quickly. We need to save as many classic cars as possible. Once they're gone, that's it. All that's left are pictures and stories.
Cars like this should NOT BE CRUSHED!!!
Wow. worth saving…That should have never been sent to scrap yard…considering sooo many rusted out vehicles on the road today 🤣🤣🤣
Man, that dashboard brings back memories.
I didnt know it was stull being used in '86,
The car I had was a 1979 LeMans. Same 3.8 V6,
Same mile long fan shroud,
The 3.8 first gens always ran rough.
A Buick 350 would bolt right in
Those seats will fit in most T bodies, even the earlier models, i put a complete GN interior & the complete powertrain in my 79 Regal once ,it was a nice sleeper ,wish i kept that one
No title needed for cars over 20 years old up here in New Hampshire. Just need a bill of sale and we can register it.
My mom had the Monte Carlo version of that car. Exact same color. Except for the front end, it looked exactly like it. I loved that car. Too bad this one has to die.
In Arizona you can apply for a bonded title regardless of title status
Clean , detail and buff paint , that's a $3500 car all day long.
Definitely keep it or sell it complete for parts ,or put a mechanics lean against it in another state
U can get a notorized letter from estate and then take car to d.m.v. for their inspection and get a title.
Awesome cars
Our state allows you to get a bonded title by showing paperwork you have. NC doesn’t have a bonded title option? Bond is not expensive.
I bout my 85 Pontiac Parisienne and had same issue I got the car in Indiana car was form California I got a title by bond Long long process but was able to get a title and I live in Illinois… what would u take for the GP ? I will buy it my dad had a tan GP when I was a kid and if I can get this 1 I’d get title and give him the car
Beautiful car
I don't understand people! Why?
This car is worth saving. Sell it to someone that will make a drag car out of it. Please don't let it be crushed.
Where are you located? Would like the rear tag plate with the reverse lights. Also, the hood ornament.
Me too..my lens fell out
I dont need a title in vermont. Whats the price?
For parts for like a grand
And say any part you want you have to take the rest of the car too
If you get any vehicles that run can you make videos of them running
Get a title thru the state of Vermont. Lot's of car restorers do that to fudge the title for Barrett Jackson
Aww my heart cant take it 😢😂 someone startt a gofund me to get this guy the money to hold on and restore this beauty. 😮
Save that thing!!!
What a shame, I could use a few bits off it for my '83 Grand Prix LJ
Yes Chevy 305 or Oldsmobile 307 n that Buick 3.8
I need the grill and license plate frame on the back
Parts car and a good ls swap candidate 💪🏾i would keep it and drive it around the neighborhood. Free car for sure..thats fuked up u cant get title tho but there are ways around that 4 sure👍🏾poor g-body😢

Since you can't sell the car could you take a donation for it ???
Wow! What a waste. Hopefully it's parts can help something else stay on the road.
LS swap that and you will triple your money or more@@@@@@!!!!!
It has more value original engine than LS swap
