This lady is so talented with such a diverse playlist it astounds me that she has not achieved stardom by now. Her version of Pale Blue Eyes brings tears to my eyes.
I drove a couple A&R guys from Nashville to the airport once and told them the stuff and performers I here on the radio sucked. They were offended but Elizabeth Cook just proves my point. Why is was she not promoted properly? Because the people in charge have no taste.
I love her cover of If I Had My Way but I can’t understand the third line of the first verse. And haven’t been able to find it anywhere. “[???] while he was walking along.” Does anybody know the rest of it?
What is wrong with this is that Tim Carroll isn't introduced and Letterman didn't even shake his hand and E. Cook didn't make that right! Carroll is from Indiana, by the way, and Letterman might have made some connection about that - if the thing went the way it should have gone. From what I've been reading, Tim Carroll is considered a top musician in Nashville, but he seems to have been overshadowed by Elizabeth Cook.

So you agree America should be torn apart?
It is an old Blind Willie Johnson song. The Dead and The Blasters covered it.

Love Elizabeth Cook! Patty Griffin covered this too on her "Downtown Church" album.

If anyone from Maga is listening to this song and likes it that is true irony
and the way the Blasters did it,too...

It’s a traditional song. Y’all are internet geniuses.
Durable Song. Rev. Gary Davis and Peter, Paul and Mary, too among others, too
Rev Gary Davis likely is smiling- somewhere. Nice.
Crazy that this song is now sung by those who built the house..And the original message lost.

I was hoping that she was covering the T-Bone Burnett song "Tear This Building Down," but no such luck. More's the pity.
rev. Gary Davis wrote this song.
It was Blind Willie Johnson
Love ya EC..but this tune is actually Samson and Delilah..the Dead did it for years..good version though.
