medium kick into heavy rekka was a combo before the patch
Capcom is well aware of the Yun dive kick ptsd so they make sure Jamie's won't be the next. Other area buff for Jamie are pretty much welcomed. Hope to see Jamie in tournament
His is still the worst in the game, but at least now he has a way to reliable get around fireballs. Especially Guile's with bakai.
Bakai always went through all fireballs. Been playing him since launch. Guile recovers too quickly to punish on reaction. It would have to be a hard read.
@juice6521 In no universe is Jamie the worst in the game right now
@@iggydadawg9712 I said "his" as in his divekick.
@@iggydadawg9712 he just can't be tournament viable because he doesn't have a reliable anti projectile move
Also, bakkai can fully punish rashid lvl 2 being invulnerable through the complete animation. There are other situations, but that's great by itself. Also 2mp is his main meaty mixup button in CG setups, comboing into itself to target combo. And lvl 1 combos after regular CG.
2MP is -1 now instead of 0. In masters they punish you if you throw an attack after 2MP
@robbytherob for sure, it ends your turn, more like a counter poke or setups button. Or going into rekka to add space.
The startup is still kinda slow though, so you will get through projectiles easier but punishing is a different story
@@baldbishop1667 sad thing is that 2MP has less range than 5LP. Totally useless move that is only used for stuffing a 2MK from a block string.
18:00 Jamie already had 7147 corner combo and 7048 midscreen to crner combo at 4 drinks before. Truth is you almost never 4 drink in match, you almost never full gauge at corner too, i palyed 2k hours i haven't done this combo even once. Capcom actully nerfed his miscreen combo, because of TC scaling. Unless there's new one, but i don't care. I gave up on this character this season. My heart can't take any more FB drive rushes
Feels good to be a Jamie main.
Finally, Jamie feels like the main character he seems to have been meant to be.
He's not a main character. He's a make up wearing momo.
@@malcolmjelani3588 It's okay to intimidated by men who are better looking than you. But at this point you should be used to it.
Is he supposed to though? I know he's besides Luke but he doesn't feel like he has a ken/ryu dynamic.
I might just not know the lore though.
@@XEndlessSteelX yes im used to it. Hes still a momo.
@@XEndlessSteelXoof got em’ lol nice one
The divekick pushback on block being reduced is likely a buff, if he's minus then he's in their face anyway. But before when he was plus he was pushed really far back so now it gives him better options
How? He just loses his turn and his opponent can strike throw him. Before he could reset neutral and remain safe from any immediate mixup.
@@YMan-zo5kg You might be right but iirc if he was minus then he'd already lost his turn before, either getting punished or he was minus in throw range so I don't know what you mean by just resetting neutral
@@Sriks49 if you are barely minus or barely plus and outside of most lights and mediums range then you’ve pretty much reset neutral. If you can back dash without getting hit after being minus then you pretty much reset neutral.
@@YMan-zo5kg ok sure but you're still the same amount of minus and same distance from the opponent in the new patch right? The distance is only really relevant once you get into plus frames on divekick, though I don't have a way to test the old patch
@@Sriks49 I haven’t checked it out enough, but I thought he lost most all pushback?
Wish i was as optimistic as the comments LOL. Pretty sure this character will still be relatively weak
Still won't stop me from playing Jamie. He's a lot of fun and nothing will change my mind.
@@alainchristienemendoza9982 not disagreeing about that lol. Play what you find enjoyment in! I just meant in terms of power level I don't think he changed all that much this patch, still a cool character
Thank you lol people go crazy for literally anything, character is still super pointless
@@JC_1000 and who is this character that is super pointless?
@@alainchristienemendoza9982Jamie. Who else
You could medium kick into heavy rekka in season 1, but it left you really close on block for an easy punish. It was safer to use medium rekkas instead.
Great video, nice detail.
showing lv4 damage is so unrealistic it hurts. compare his level 2 damage as that is the most drinks he will get against a decent player.
This combo still does 6.6K with a lvl 2 Drink Jamie
That first combo you did was so awesome!
Great video, here are a few things hidden behind confusing wording.
fHK>headbutt is a natural combo on regular hit.
EX rekka hitbox makes combos more consistent, but also makes the first hit disjointed (lol).
Light TC was changed so that Light TC> dr crLP is gapless. Before you could mash reversal for free because he had no safe gapless options beside lvl 2. Now you should still input a reversal, but stop after the crLP to avoid getting clipped low when buffering.
Lvl 3 buff improves combo consistency, but more important makes some moves, namely superman punch, not go over it anymore.
H palm gives a safejump on hit, and is now plus in burnout (kinda dumb if you ask me).
Idk Jamie still suffers from the big problem of starting off a lot weaker than everyone else. These buffs are nice for when Jamie gets going, but what happens if Ken takes you to the corner off round start or you gotta start making a comeback with 0 drinks? Level 0 Jamie is still a bottom tier character, level 1 is still probably low tier, 2 mid tier, and then he’s really good now if he’s 3 or 4 drinks in, but how many rounds will Jamie realistically be 3-4 drinks in?
Not a lot for sure 😂
I might play him now
I’m maining him now
Might pick him up this season
I think I'm going to start using Jamie.
Join us brother
Do it. Just remember it’s not alcohol, it’s a herbal mixture…
Ahem
Jamie one buff away from being another Broken Yun
Give him Cammie's divekick and a key's DP and he becomes S tier overnight.
What is a rekka?
It's like a combo you can do by just pressing a button in a set timing In a set sequence.
Like Jamie's 3 little punch combo (free flow strikes) or Ken's medium medium heavy kick.
@@Crouton-Yup. It is essentially a special move that has a follow-up or several follow-ups that require the player to input afterwards. Named after Fei Long's qcf+p Rekka Ken special which you do the motion three times to get all three moves out.
Why not have just made Jamie’s palm strikes projectile invul instead of the breakdance?
Too quick and too safe, would be like old cammy knuckle.
@@maaziqbal357 I was thinking Karin lol. She had it for almost the entire duration of SF5.
honestly jamie only has 1 attack
the one where he spins and then its a multihit that somehow leaves him + in your face
That's absolutely not plus bro
But still he needs to get that 4 drinks and someone in the corner
Shouldn't be a problem. Jamie is designed to be that way. Plus, there's a lot of ways to get drinks whilst getting away with it.
@@alainchristienemendoza9982lol tell me that after you get put in the corner off a whiff punish round start by a Ken and have to eat his pressure on level 0. Jamie is still one of the easiest characters to snowball because he starts out handicapped and he’s nothing special at level 1 or 2.
@@YMan-zo5kglol, why so salty? You sound like you really hate Jamie with a passion. Just let people play the character they like and quit being a sourpuss because no matter what you say, there's nothing you can do to stop me from playing Jamie. 😜
@@alainchristienemendoza9982 I’m actually one of the players who would like to see Jamie buffed more. Also I like to let a fool know they are being naive when I see it.
@@YMan-zo5kgYou were so negative about Jamie being nothing special when he's at drink lvl 0-2. Now you're telling me that you're one of those players who like him to get buffed more after all the negative things you've said about Jamie? What's your point? What exactly are you trying to prove here? You want me to believe that you're the only one who knows everything about the character? If you don't have anything good to say, just keep it to yourself because you make me sick and that makes you a fool not me.
I can't believe they nerfed the damage of Luke and DeeJay and then buffed his damage like this and Ryu and Zangeif so much. They should've just buffed people and then assessed the balance before the ultra nerfs to other characters. The damage on some of these characters now seems like an accident of a reactionary patch rather than careful consideration.
I strongly agree with this. The damage of some characters is absurd. Especially ryu marisa and zangief
@@azizkash286I kinda disagree, especially on Gief and Jamie.
Gief needs to put in work, play extremely careful, and can’t rely on the same explosive DR and quick options as Luke or Deejay.
Jamie can do 7k sure, but you need to be drink level 4, you need your level 3 Critical, your full drive gauge to be spent and either a crumple punish counter or punish counter while you opponent is in the air to be able to do this.
In other words, the times where Jamie can actually pull this off are close to non-existent.
And it goes without saying that despite all these buffs Jamie is still by far the one who needs to put in the most work to reach a point where he can really dish out big damage. Most of my fights never reach 4 drink levels.
Ryu on the other hand, yeah I agree. He was already really strong before, if anything it wasn’t on the damage side that he was lacking.
But nerf Luke and Deejay? Totally warranted. They’re still extremely strong. As a matter of fact Luke even got buffed in some areas and while he might be contested now I wouldn’t be surprised if he was still in the top spot or close to it.
Jamie should be rewarded for getting to 4 drinks. He has to work so hard for it especially in certain matchups.
If you let Jamie get to Drink level 4, you should have already lost the round. That means he's won 4 interactions and chosen to drink instead of getting oki. If Ken wins neutral 3 times you'd be dead.
The only character who can't stop Jamie raw drinking is Gief. Everyone else can driverush punish him from basically anywhere on the screen.he
He could do exactly that much damage last patch bro, what are you talking about
