    I've been driving these trucks for nearly 40 years now, and my first truck I purchased for $500 when I was 16 and learned to drive and work the 3 speed on the tree all at the same time. a few hours and I felt confident and drove around all day! What memories. I have since owned many of these 60's chevy pickups, each always seems like an old friend, when I sit in the cab, yet with their own individual personality. I currently own 2 shortbeds, a fleets idea and a stepup, both run still but the are in need of restoration now. Ido need a good rear end with panhard bar bracket for my 1964 fleetside, so if anyone can help...I would appreciate it! Again would love to know more info about these trucks? Thanks again for sharing, much appreciated!

    Beautiful pickup and great video! I love the resto mod concept. Keeping the vintage look with modern upgrades like engine/trans, disc brakes, suspension etc. So many snarky, rude comments from keyboard commando's who will never build anything close to this truck. I'm building a 65 small back window and will be making changes to suit my personal preferences like this guy did. I don't care what other people think. I'll be replacing the factory seat with one that is comfortable because of back issues I have. Thanks for sharing this with us! DDDave

    Why use a junkyard engine? I agree with others "Interior is crap" they didn't have backup lights in 65. however you have a nice "starter kit" with a few modifications you would have a nice truck!

      63 to 87 front cross members all interchange. 1/2 ton pickup or suburban two wheel drive. 70's and 80's get you 5 hole wheels and disc brakes. If you are replacing ball joints and tie rods and such you need to get them for the year you have because they are different from year to year

    it is a very nice truck, and you did a great job on it. having said that, i`ve got to say that it kills me when people take an old vehicle and try to make it like a new one. if you want a new truck, just go buy one ! you took all the heart and soul out of that truck and made it a plastic, plain jane truck just like all the rest of them on the road. how long would it take to get bored driving that ? when that truck was built, it was built by PEOPLE who were proud of what they did. you just took all of that away and put a bunch of plastic, computerized junk in it .

It's not hacked up with a chopped top, giant wagon wheels, shaved door handles or other stupid mods that completely change the lines.It is beautiful and very well done! I don't like the steering wheel/column but this guy does and it's His truck.

    OK #1. A 5.3 L = 325 cu. in. not 327 Check it out.
    #2. It`s an engine not a motor. A motor gets it`s power from an outside source like a power house or a battery. An engine gets it`s power from within. If you can call an engine a motor then you can call a motor an engine. That engine is about 315 hp stock.
    A 315 hp motor would be bigger & heavier than your truck.
    I love your truck but trying to clarify a couple of things. No hard feelings.

    • @flyinbryan1619
      @flyinbryan1619 Před 9 lety

      1. they are not exactly 5.3 liters. different cylinder head arrangements and valving yields 5.361L - 5.365 (depending on the exact year of 5.3 used), so we have between 327.1 - 327.3 cubic inches. check it out and get back to me if my math is wrong
      2. "motor" is an industry term, very commonly used by those that know more than you and I about the automotive industry,,,, don't expect "motor trend magazine" to change their name to "engine trend magazine" anytime soon.
      3. a 315hp, not to mention even a 350hp motor is in no way bigger than his truck. I am an electrical engineer in texas (so you might be wasting your time checking my math as I suggested above) and installed and programmed the controller logic for a 350hp motor less than a month ago. (I own the company I work for),,,, the motor used was a base frame 449tm by u.s. motors/emerson power systems, and was 33 inches overall length and 23 inches in diameter, with a base weight of 2029lbs with the belt and the 11 inch pulley, so that's not really bigger than a truck huh?
      so, I like how you pay attention to detail, but check your info first. cheers

    • @Bob79394
      @Bob79394 Před 9 lety +2

      Don`t know how this got to gmail when I sent yahoo.
      You might be right with your math but the owners manual says 325 cu. in,, That`s what I go by. Also when I typed in 5.3 = ? cu. in. I got 325.
      Calling an engine a motor started out wrong years ago. So people accepted it. I like calling things what they are. That`s why I call a horse a horse & not a mule. Cheers.

    • @Stinger427NGX
      @Stinger427NGX Před 9 lety

      Robert Broyles a true 327 sbc would be a 5.4 in the books and the ls 5.3 is a 325. and I also agree with you on motor vs engine. I have a force of habit to say engine instead of motor to people who say motor
