The mushrooms on Smurf Island ALWAYS smelled of piss. I loved Hanna-Barberra Land. My first (1978) and still my favorite coaster is Goldrusher. My sisters favorite was the Whirling Well, for some reason. Just next to that, they always had a really great video arcade in that King's Cinema building next to all the Skee ball machines in Sportaball. Hundreds of games. I rode Whitewater Falls on opening weekend. The Monorail was great on hot days. The shade and a nice breeze were always welcome and it was great to go around the park. My first visit was in 1978. I haven't been since 1990. Spinning flat rides suk hard!
I will never forget...Lighting Strikes............NOW!!
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!
Thank you! There are many more details, but I tried to highlight my favorites 😁 -Andrew
Loved the Video, now I have to go back and look for the Easter eggs
Thanks, Dale! I'm sure you know of a few more Easter eggs too. I keep noticing more every time I go 😆
Most of the wood buildings in the line of copper head strike is from the thunder road rollercoaster
That’s really cool!
Really? I didn't know this! Thanks for sharing!!
I miss Carowinds! such a fun park and great coasters. They still have the Chick Fila A ?
Hope you can check it out this year! Chick-Fil-A is being converted to the Terminal A Restaurant and Bar ✈️
I miss the Paramount theming from when I was a kid. It's also so weird to me they are eliminating the water rides. Some of the longest lines in any theme park are usually the log flume or tube rides.
The Paramount theming looks so good - I never got to see it in person 😢.
I agree about the water rides! My wishlist has a classic Carowinds character themed raft or log ride in the place of Whitewater Falls and maybe the Palladium. -Andrew
I know! Right? When I was a kid, in the 70's & early 80's, some of my earliest memories of this park were waiting in the Long lines for the powder keg flume!! For a long time, it was actually my favorite ride! This was before so many roller coasters were added. Though it's been awhile since it's destruction, I Still can't believe they tore down Thunder Road! Many were against this action--so much so I even imagined the demolition may have been stopped!! Am SO Glad that I made it back to ride this coaster twice just a few days before it happened in 2015!!!
Are there any water rides in the park anymore?
Nope. Hope that changes soon!
Fun Fact: Carowinds is 38 minutes away from Charlotte Motor Speedway and 23 minutes away from the NASCAR Hall of Fame
Would be cool to have a racing-themed area 🤔😁
@@ParkRovers I agree
It's a shame that all that anyone cares about nowadays is flat spinning rides and roller coasters.
Agreed. I’d love to see Carowinds add a dark ride, or a water ride. I’d also much rather have the Sternwheeler than Nighthawk 🤫
@@ParkRovers I wish they'd bring back the water logs!
@@cathythornton6332 I'd love that! A classic log flume feels like a must-have for any theme park. Carowinds could bring one back and maybe feature their classic characters like the Carolion and Ringo Raccoon.
@@ParkRovers I could see That, too! Thanks for your prompt reply.
